Gaterade G3 protein water

Just picked up some Gatorade G3 at the supermarket. It has 16g protein per bottle for 120 calories. At $2 per bottle (on special at Jewel) it is certainly cheaper than the GNC fruit flavored protein drinks. It seems like a good choice for me when I am out and don't have my Special K protein water mix with me (or a bottle to mix it in).

How does it taste?

The flavors are lemon-lime/orange or strawberry/kiwi. I have only tried the lemon-lime/orange so far. It is sweetened with glucose so it tastes a little sweet to me. It is less "salty" and more sweet than regular gaterade.

I thought we were supposed to stay away from or highly limit sugar in our diets? At least that's what I remember them saying in the WLS class I had to take in order to be approved for surgery. Am I wrong in this?

Yes I was told the same thing too. I am not even supposed to have regular Slim Fast because it has too much sugar. I am just saying the Gatorade G3 is probably OK in a pinch if you cannot find anything else.

You have to check the sugar content out. I know this is a very easy way to get protein but it could have negative effects on your weight loss.. I usually try to get just limited number of sugars..say under 5 grams. You have to also check the sodium content in them also. They will make you retain fluids.

You're right, at 14g carbs per container these should be avoided. I guess a carton of non-fat milk would be better if you can stand it.
