You clicked on this. Just remember that. I'm at that magical age where my colon is suddenly another body part to take care of. I got my colonoscopy at age 50 and got a clean bill of health. However, I was told that high Fiber was good and one way to know you were getting enough fiber was if your poop floats. You clicked on this. Mine floated nicely for years. I also took fiber capsules every day. Now, post banding, I was told no fiber capsules (they expand inside you) so I stopped. And now I eat Protein, protein and more protein. Some veggies and occasionally carbs. Not floating anymore. I really don't want to have to mix up a cocktail of fiber…

Hey everyone! I'm new to this site but I really need some help! I've been post band since 4/2012 and I've lost 75 lbs I was up to 85 lbs but had a setback.. but I have a problem that happens all the time, my band seems to tighten itself.... it will be fine and then all of a sudden it is hard for me to eat anything... and it doesn't get better even if I baby it - so I'd go get adjusted if I had to. But this time it's different. .. I have the worst acid reflux ever and it's been 2 weeks and it hasn't gotten better despite all my OTC effort (prilosec, Zantac, pepcid, tums...) nothing has helped... I can eat, but it hurts! I have a pressure that radiates from my stomach to my…

I went on a blind date Wednesday night and saw that the gentleman was overweight. It didn't matter to me at all because he was very nice and we got along well, but it turns out that we did discuss the fact that he's lost more than 80 lbs. and wants to lose another 40. He needed to lose weight because of a knee replacement and I went ahead and told him about my hip replacement surgery and that I too had to lose weight so I would have an optimal outcome. He looked at me like I had two heads. I assured him that I struggled with my weight and even laughingly said that if we got along well enough, I'd think about showing him some less flattering pictures of me in the futu…

So I haven't really exercised in a million years, tomorrow is it. I have an appointment with a Personal Trainer at the local YMCA. He's probably totally buff and I'll feel like a whale! Oh well, I gotta get this thing started. Thursday is my first consultation. I've already been approved by my health insurance for the surgery so I'm hoping not to have to wait too long for a date.

Lapband coffee Group – Toronto Saturday, September 27th – 2:00 p.m. Timothy's Coffee 425 Bloor St. E. The Lapband Coffee Groups are open to EVERYONE who has had Lapband Surgery or if you’re looking into the lapband process, recently banded, or a long time "Bandster". This is a great way to find out about the lapband from individuals who have had the surgery and to ask questions or just listen to individuals share their lapband journey experience. No need to sign up… just show up and if you can’t find the group ask for Tom at the cash register. …

Hi all, I was banded on 12/06/11 and so far I've lost a total of 40 pounds. I am very proud of myself but as of late I've been a bit discourgaged and as a result made some really bad food choices. Is there anybody in or close to the Lawton area that would like to get together to work out and just experience this transformation together?

Y'all, I'm STRUGGLING these past couple of days. I don't know what triggered it but I'm just RAVENOUS-- all I can think about it food, food, food. I haven't binged or even over eaten and I'm really fighting the urge to do so. I thought maybe a little treat would help so last night I did eat a package of Peanut Butter cups (2)-- always my candy of choice-- but the chocolate have me HORRIBLE reflex which I'm still feeling today. NOT worth it and it didn't help with my cravings. And today, even while I'm enjoying my food and being careful and could clearly feel I was full, I was just wanting to shovel all of my lunch into mouth. I didn't, but even as I was putting the lef…

Yes, eating like the band was full.... now I am a nervous wreck worrying about every bit of food that goes in my mouth. I will be unfilled for a month. Sigh...

Good evening all, I was banded 8/12/14 and prior to my surgery I attended a nutrition class hosted by my surgeons office. I was told I would get 5 prescriptions delivered to my house prior to the surgery. I received a nausea cream, painful scar therapy cream, 2 bottles of scar therapy gel, adjustment cream and metabolic supplements. The mail order pharmacy called and told me to write down instructions for each prescription which I did. Although they only said the supplements would jump start my metabolism for the weight loss. I have been taking these for a week and the side effects kinda stink to be polite. My pill bottle has no name, ingredients, manufacturer, or ca…

Hi Everybody, I'm 9 days post op. Still have tremendous shoulder pain. Is it really gas that will go away? I feel like I suffer every day, every meal and almost every sip. I don't see my doctor until next tuesday. I already called and they said it was gas. I can't really walk too much as I have a bad back and extreme sciatica. I move as much as I can, but if this pain keeps up, I don't know what I'll do. I will say that after 3 1/2 weeks of liquid, I lost 21 lbs. !!!!!

Accompany your firstborn to her/his university, and then say goodbye. My heart goes out to all the parents going through these separations at this back to school time of year. Whether you are watching them walk into kindergarten or dropping them off at their dorm...it is just one more step of theirs towards independence. Which is, of course, a great thing. Anyway, suddenly my band is newborn, with a level of restriction such as I've never known. And this reminds me how our bands are so reactive! Heat, stress, cold, colds, some mention flying (that's not one of mine), our bands inhale and exhale along with us. It's something you can't know until you are banded (a…

I used to post regularly on LapBandTalk. I've been reading, but not posting here for a few weeks and feel ready now to dive back in with both feet. Some Background... My highest weight was 297. I was 265 or so at the time of my surgery (six years ago - or was it five?). I lost down to 180 and felt so good. So good. Changes in my life started happening (mostly good things!) and I turned to my old best friend - food. I stopped paying attention to myself and what was going on with my body and I (of course) regained. I made it up to 240 pounds, and then lost a bit. Gained a bit. Lost a bit. You know how it is. Part of the issue was that I couldn't get a good fill. …

It's been a nightmare around here for the past two and half weeks. Had a friend try to commit suicide. Her whole family has disowned her except for one cousin and me. I'e been helping her pretty much everyday and it's wearing on me physically and emotionally. My son was discharged from the Navy 3 weeks ago. Do to poor choices he ended up in Kansas and homeless for a night. Now he is in Oklahoma trying to convince me he is there trying to recover and recoup. When in fact he is lazy and doesn't want to work. Doesn't mean I worry less about about him. Went 6 days with no sleep. Thought I was going to have to go to the stress center for a couple of days, but finally I sle…

I am scheduled for my lap-band for Friday, I am so excited and a little nervous to be at this turning point in my life. Looking forward to new adventures and can't wait to be on the other side of the surgery part. Glad I found this board - lots of great support and info. My doctors office said the recovery is quick from the surgery and some people are back to work in a day or two, it all depends on how the individuals body heals. What are some of the experiences that others have had after getting banded... Getting back to work, gym, ect?

Hi there, my surgeon has no problem with ibuprofen, etc. but I am not taking NSAIDS -- too worried about long-term damage to the digestive track in general but since being banded I feel extremely cautious. But the joint pain, OMG! Recently I did a trial on Cymbalta which is being used in low doses to treat joint pain. I don't tolerate medicine very well, and so even though I do think it was working (but harder to tell in the summer) I went off of it. Behold the roaring return of inflammation and pain! Yesterday I picked up a script for Voltaren Gel, a topical NSAID for hands, feet, knees, elbows -- may not worker for deeper joints, like hips. $40 a tube (big tube) b…

There's a new group meeting in Arlington. Here's the info: We will be meeting on Thursday, January 31 (last Thursday of the month) at 6:30pm. At Mochalux Coffee & Tea Co. 1101 E. Bardin Rd, suite 101, Arlington, TX 76018. It is off Interstate 20 and S. Collins in a strip behind Chicken Express. They charge a fee of $25/hour to let us meet and to reserve seats, but that fee is waived if we purchase $30 worth of drinks/products. Hopefully you won't mind chipping in towards that amount in case we don't purchase enough. I'm thinking this first meeting will be more of a meet and greet and we can discuss what kinds of things we are hoping to accomplish in our meet…

After dealing with so many issues my band was removed in Mexico by Guillermo Alvarez ( best in the world). I'm less then 24 hours out and my body feels so relieved Guillermo Alvarez said I should wait at least 6 months before getting the sleeve because all the damage the band did to my stomach it needs to heal. I'm a self pay so I'll start cutting corners and save up and hopefully by May of 2015 I'll be sleeved. by Guillermo Alvarez. I can't say enough about the care here with Guillermo Alvarez and his team. They truly care about you as a person. I travelled with two other people getting the sleeve and the say the same thing about the fantastic care here. I'm so ha…

Bit of background, I was banded in February of 2009, surgery / post op have gone well. I have 4.5 ccs in a 9cc band. About 2 weeks ago, I got sick and vomited for most of the day(sorry for sharing). For 2 days afterwards, I struggled keeping Fluid down. As fluid got easier, I graduated to soft foods and am now back on solids for almost a week. I have always been on the side to "baby" my band... Now my problem... Since my "sick" day, I've had horrific heartburn (only time I've had that issue was with my gallbladder). I have removed all spicy/acidic foods and am still eating Tums like tic tacs. Heartburn is waking me up at night, I can also hear it hitting my vocal …

Well I took a 5 day cruise to the beautiful islands. the boat was great, the sea's were a little rough. the food choices were rougher!!! First I must say I went on Vacation last month and lost 12 pounds. this time not so good. The problem this time was the I took a motion pill for the sea's and when I went to the gym I got really light headed and sick, which limited my exercise. Then came the drinks and social gatherings, which I know how to maintain but, lost that fight. I was hoping to avoid all deserts, well after getting sick at lunch, ate too fast after 4 bites of salad. They had a pastry party, which I went to with my wife. I will not say it was her fault but, I fa…

Banded in jan 2014. Last fill 1 week ago and I'm feeling real restriction for first time. I can eat about 1/4 - 1/2 cup at a a time. I'm trying out different foods with different consistencies to figure out what works best for me. But I'd like to hear from other bandsters on what you eat, what amounts, how long u take to eat, when do u know to stop? I've heard that some people have signals that tells them to stop but I don't. So, sometimes I eat too fast and get that painful sensation mid-sternum - till it slips thru the band. But I'd like to have some pointers that I can use to not have that feeling. I know that everybody is different but everyone with a band has some…
