Starting With a Personal Trainer

Recommended Posts

So I haven't really exercised in a million years, tomorrow is it. I have an appointment with a Personal Trainer at the local YMCA. He's probably totally buff and I'll feel like a whale! Oh well, I gotta get this thing started. Thursday is my first consultation. I've already been approved by my health insurance for the surgery so I'm hoping not to have to wait too long for a date.

Good for you. Sounds like you're off to a terrific start. I've had my band since August 2009 and often wonder why I didn't do this sooner. I'll be 52 soon and feel like I'm 29, tons of energy. Pace yourself and don't give your trainer the stink eye :) when he/she is pushing you.

WIshing you much success.

Working out at the YMCA is going well. Up until last night I had been doing just treadmill walking. My knees and hips are in horrible shape so to be able to do anything is a blessing. Last night my trainer took me around to the weight machines for an assessment. I have my marching orders for the next 4 weeks. Weights and Cardio! WooHoo!!!! I had my first pre-op weight appointment today; I've lost 6.5 pounds since seeing my surgeon.

Same as Sandy -- walking immediately after surgery outdoors, etc. Then on the treadmill. Resumed recumbent bike at about a week. My surgeon asked for six weeks before resuming core exercises, weights, etc. I am able to do them now and happy to have those back. I want strong arms and a lean body!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
