  1. Ok, so today was my visit with the psych doc. That didn't go so well. First thing they wanted was $500.00! Seriously, can we say miscommunication? If I was there for one set of questions it would have been a different amount but for "clearance" for WLS, $500.00 in advance. I told them never mind, I just realy don't have the support system at home anyway, I'm thinking I really need to pull this off the burner. After the staff discussed things with the doc, they took me anyway for consultation since I had a referral. (Tri-Care, my co-pay today was $25.00). I'm definately pulling the plug on this. As I said, I just don't have the support at home and I know I can't do it alone. I face crazy amounts of sabotage at home and I just need to make peace with that and keep eating right and not visit old habits. I wish you all well
  2. Wow! What an awesome non scale victory. That's one I will have on my bucket list. Congratulations I know it was hard work.
  3. Just learned from this site this week about quest bars. I'm pre-op. Found some on base at Vitamin World. I bought White Chocolate and Raspberry and the Chocolate Brownie. I tried the brownie yesterday and immediately decided I can easily do without sugar in my diet! These things are awesome.
  4. Hi! And a warm welcome. Keep posting your progresses, concerns, questions, whatever. We are all here to help each other. The only place I've found with no ridicule.
  5. Ive been super selective in telling anyone as well. My husband, my sons, my boss, my mom, one sister, BF at work. That's it. Im going shopping today for my pre & post op needs, gearing up. I want to be ready when they give me the go word.
  6. Lots of good advice to store away, hopefully for the not-so-distant future. Like @@bajagal101, I'm "in waiting". I'm approved to see a surgeon, have gotten all but the psyc visit and last dietician appointment done, both of those are this coming week. I'm hoping it won't be long after that. In the meantime, I'm trying not to gain any weight, but can't seem to "not eat", ugh!
  7. Turn that frown upside down @@sbake11! Look how close you are. Think of where you will be a year from now. That's what I'm trying to use for my motivation today. A year from now, how will I feel? A whole lot better! Here's to us, keep in touch.
  8. @@susanmm50 My condolences, and prayers of strength and peace in your time of grief for losing your mom. I'm certain based on your story, as unexplainable as our lives can be, there always seems to be a good reason for why certain things happen in the way they do. Before your mom became ill, you were ready. Now you are simply picking up where you left off. You sound like a really strong person and I'm looking forward to seeing successful and positive posts from you. God Bless you.
  9. @@sbake11 wondering if you have had a surgery date set yet? We are at about the same point in taking care of all of our appointments. My psyc eval is next week. One more appointment with the obesity counselor and my referral reads like it's approved for the visits and the surgery. Best Wishes!
  10. @@kpurdy68 you are sounding much better. Keep your chin up girl! Yoou've got this.
  11. Some insightfull information and suggestions. Appreciate them all. I feel like a busy bank trying to store all this stuff in my tiny brain. lol
  12. Congratulations on your progresses so far! I can't wait to join you!
  13. A lot has happened in a year. The Valdosta Bariatric clinic is now at Choice Family Medicine. Just happens to be at the office of my primary care manager Dr. Richard Rickman's office. Jody Young is there (Awesome!) and Dan Ayers, I didn't know him from last year, but he's been great to work with so far as well. They work with more than one surgeon, so if you go, there are options. I was initially going to see Dr. Michael Baptista in JAX but had a paperwork hangup between their office and Tri-Care and since I had already had an approval last year for surgery with Dr. Cywes, Jody has been working this closely. Now I'm approved to go with Dr. Christopher Smith in Albany (Tifton). There is a support goup meeting held at the office each month, although I haven't made it to one yet, I definately will be.
  14. Lots of good support here, I'll be needing it soon. Best Wishes kpurdy68 I will be checking up on you and keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. You can do this!
  15. Ok. I've used that before. I'm using fitbit but it doesn't seem to give me as much information. Thanks
  16. @@jaedwards keep looking at the big picture. Not the little picture mind you. We have to take this in baby steps or one step at a time but look just a little farther down the road if you can. A month from now. 4 months from now and so on. The big picture. You are going to be feeling great!
  17. Positive thoughts and abundant Blessings and a healthy future...may it all be yours.
  18. @@Georgia Pritchett I hadn't heard of a TENS unit for migraine or headaches. I have been a victim since I was 13. I see my Neurologist on Jun 2d. Definitely going to bring it up.
  19. Wow does that sound like some fun?! I'd like to look into a Cruise to Lose after I retire. Should be around Feb 2016.
  20. I'm definitely hoping to sever the relationship with my CPAP machine.
  21. Sure hoping you are feeling better.
  22. So proud of you! I was going to do this a year ago but my surgeon (then) moved his surgery location to a distance I wasn't comfortable with. I'm currently signed up with Dr. Baptista but haven't met him yet. As for "What do you do now", from what I read on the site...follow doc's orders. Stay relaxed I guess too. That's what I will concentrate on. Once its done, its done...don't look back. No regrets and think positive. Best wishes and God Bless you.
