What is going ON with me?!

Y'all, I'm STRUGGLING these past couple of days. I don't know what triggered it but I'm just RAVENOUS-- all I can think about it food, food, food. I haven't binged or even over eaten and I'm really fighting the urge to do so. I thought maybe a little treat would help so last night I did eat a package of Peanut Butter cups (2)-- always my candy of choice-- but the chocolate have me HORRIBLE reflex which I'm still feeling today. NOT worth it and it didn't help with my cravings.

And today, even while I'm enjoying my food and being careful and could clearly feel I was full, I was just wanting to shovel all of my lunch into mouth. I didn't, but even as I was putting the leftovers away I was half thinking about just bingeing on it. I didn't *need* it but I felt like I did! Ugh. Just struggling. Not ruining myself, but just not feeling that awesome contentment I had all week.

Any ideas?

The eating demons never go away Bama. Sugar can only exacerbate your hunger as it can spike your insulin levels and when they come back down, you want more sugar or carbs.

Also, if you've lost some weight lately, your body could be trying to maintain a set point causing you to be hungry. As we lose weight we develop new weight set points that our bodies defend vigorously.

Fill up on healthy foods so you aren't hungry is all I can offer :(

I have hunger days. nothing satisfies me. that is why my freezer is stuffed with all kinds of sugar free treats. fudgesicles are only 40 cal. or frozen Yoplait greek yogurt is 90 calories and it has good amount of protein in it. a protein bar helps me on days when I need that sweet stuff.

great advice from the previous members , as tomuchfun says the food demons never go away , I struggle too and need to do better but it is not easy when you have battled with your weight for a long time even prior to wls , keep going x

Eating demons is so appropriate! I feel like they torment me. I guess the best way to cope is just to NEVER give in-- giving bad habits any kind of foothold just makes me crumble.

The plus is, I DO feel renewed today and it IS a new day that I haven't even made a bad choice in yet. We had a GLORIOUS looking key lime cake in Sunday School this morning to snack on, but I declined just because I know I would have eaten those unnecessary calories and set a bad precedent for the day (I'm weird like that-- 1 not great choice just AVALANCHES for me). I just drank my Crystal Light and enjoyed the fellowship :)

I find shrimp cocktail to be a god send for me. I get some decent sized one in the actual market not the pre packed ones and enjoy that. Get the spicy cocktail sauce and that makes it taste good and limit the amount I eat. It's a great but I keep it on hand to get me thru those pangs.

I hear ya. This has been my experience recently. It's a struggle but we will prevail. Good luck to both of us!

Those cravings are becoming less frequent as I deny them. I guess it's kinda like ignoring a kid throwing a tantrum-- eventually the kid just realizes it won't work and stops. So.. I guess my food demons are realiZing it doesn't work? Fingers crossed anyways!

Good luck to everyone!!

I've found that even if I give In to the cravings it doesn't taste as good as it use too. I usually walk away disappointed on several different levels.

Since it's been 3 weeks since banding I can have soft foods. 1/2 banana with 1 Tbl. peanut butter was heaven sent. I felt like I was eating a treat rather than a meal. The idea came on my diet sheet the dr. gave me. Try it!! Good luck.

My dad used to cook shrimps for me when I was little till I was a teenager and came to the U.S. then I just had it once in a while and they didn't even taste the same but, I still love to eat shrimps.... until one day I went to Applebee's with my husband I asked for some shrimps after that we went to the movies and bam...almost didn't finish the movie I went to the hospital with a horrible reaction to shrimps :( now all of the sudden I'm allergic to shrimps which I hate because I love shrimps...anyway enjoy pdb45214 :)
