    Happy banders

Julie, you’re not alone. I wonder how long my band will last as well, but fortunately I’ve had zero problems six years in. I never “test” it, and I maintain a healthy respect for the rules, including no NSAIDs for my arthritis. If I ever had problems and needed it removed, I would certainly have another WLS again. I love my band. SW 302 LW 171 CW 189 Banded 2014

Just a note to the person who asked about which foods I have trouble with banded. I get stuck on pork (?), raw carrots (always) and soft b read if don’t go slowly and take small bites. Toast, no problem.

13 years later and - I Love my band

Hi Julie! I haven’t logged in in over a year. So glad to see you posting here. I am coming up on six years with a successful band next month. Still 187 pounds and grateful that it has been stable. I’d love to take more weight off, so I’ve recently adjusted my d iet to eliminate the huge salads I was eating and eat more solid p rotein. Last time I was here there was a Banders 7 thread. Is there a newer thread with any old timers?

Hello friends. Welcome back, Lisa. You’re brave and I know you’ll do well with the surgery prep. I’ve been struggling and decided to check in here today. I am glad i did. Yadiordz, we can do this together. October is an emotional month for me so i decided to take a vacation and make some happy memories for October. I want my f ood in order before i go.

    Banders #7

Hi Banders! Struggling with about 15-20 pounds up over the last 12 months. I had another fill a few months ago, and I can tell the difference, but that does not seem to be the problem. Anyway, I just wanted to post to let everybody know that I’m still here and I am still trudging along. I don’t check this website very often, but I am glad to see you long timers here.

Damn it’s hard going back to 800 calories a day.

    Disappearing lapbanders

Well, I decided to make a doctor appointment since I had not seen my band doctor since 2015. I ended up getting a small fill and got some advice for dropping these last 30 pounds. This won’t be easy, but I am back on my 800 cal a day plan for now. It’s been a long time since I ate so little.

Alex, you remain an inspiration. And I have no doubt that if my band ever gave me trouble, I would definitely revise to another surgery. Probably full gastric bypass. Meanwhile, I will continue to enjoy a successful life with the band for now. I thank you, always, for your honesty and your journey. You have taught so many of us how important it is to take care of our health.

Julie, I didn’t know Alex had it removed. Did he revise to sleeve?
  21. Happy fourth birthday to my LapBand! It’s changed my life. Am I at my goal weight? No. But I am 107 pounds less than I was before surgery, and absolutely everything has changed. My blood pressure is under control. My knees don’t hurt as much. I’m off of all NSAIDs and painkillers. No more s leep apnea. Cholesterol normal. Blood sugar normal. I can walk for miles. I can take the stairs. I can wear normal shoes. My closet has a much narrower range of sizes, and I wear nearly everything in it. I own a pretty bathing suit and I swim in public. When I stopped overeating I began to feel my previously numbed feelings. I divorced my emotionally abusive husband. I put down all alcohol and p ills. I had 2-1/2 years of therapy. I joined self help groups, and still go. I bought a new house and started over. Last summer I got brave and started online dating. (Meeting a new fella tonight.) Would I do it all again? In a heartbeat. Does the LapBand fix my brain? Heck no. This is still hard work and it always will be. But it does help me physically. I’m not hungry all the time. With that hunger gone, I can more effectively work on the mental and emotional issues that drive me to f ood. To all newbies, I just want to say I’m a happy bander. Good luck to all of you.
