fill procedure

I heard having a fill is painful. Sometimes doctors cannot find the port. Is that true?

I'm having my first fill next week, now I'm scared.

I've had two fills now. The first hurt just a little going in, kinda of like giving blood, then I just felt pressure. The second one I didn't feel a thing. They should check your stomach before hand, mine felt around with her fingers first to make sure she was on the port. It will be ok.. :)

Thanks gbb. One of my buddy had a fill yesterday and she told me how traumatized she was because the dr couldn't find the port.

I'm glad you had a better experience. Did you feel less hungrier after the fill?

I didn't feel a whole lot after the first fill, but after my second it really seemed to quiet the hunger. Plus I have to eat very slowly or I get stuck. It's a learning process for me. Slower eating and smaller bites.

Seems like the patients with the most to lose seem to have problems with the port roaming around getting lost within the layers of fat. If you're only 184 it should be like a baby pinch and it's over.

My doc numbs you a bit before the fill. My port lays funny so I kinda have to do a half crunch while he is doing it. The NP gave me a small fill today. Took her a minute to find the port, but it didn't hurt. You'll do fine.
