  1. It's possible, but instead of so much restriction, you should be feeling less of an appetite. At least that's the way it was explained to me. It's a fine balance of some restriction and less appetite. I'm still searching for mine. I've had 5 fills and I'm getting close to that green zone.

    Austin texas

Hi! I'm in Round Rock, north of Austin. I was banded in August 2014 and I am definitely a slow loser. What part of Austin are you in? Kay

    Finally...

It's tough dealing with the hunger. I had lap band in August also and have only lost about 25 pounds. I'm definitely a slow loser. It's tough sometimes to stay motivated. But I tell myself that 25 pounds is gone forever, never to come back.
  4. This Thanksgiving will be my first after lap band. I intend to try a tiny bit of whatever catches my fancy and not feel guilty about it.

    Newbie

Hi Victoria, we have the same doctor! I was banded in August 2014 and have had 5 fills so far. I think I finally reached my green zone, but I'm a slow loser. I've lost about 25 pounds so far. But it's pounds that are never coming back! I'm glad I did it and would do it all over again. good luck to you, keep me posted on your progress! Kay

    Hunger and no fill yet

I was banded in August and just recently had my 5th fill. I can say with certainty that the 5th fill put the damper on my hunger finally. Until then it was literally white knuckle not to eat like the old me. I can make it thru from meal to meal and thoughtfully eat without just gorging because I would be so hungry.
  8. Had my 5th fill last week and I can finally definitely feel it. I eat like a bird now and I hope the weight will start coming off. I am a very slow loser and have only lost about 17 pounds in the time since my surgery in August. But this is weight that will NOT be coming back on. So I say goodbye and good riddance!

    3 weeks post op

I second JustWatchMe. Eat very, very slowly, slower than you ever have. And take eeny teeny bites. This is the key! I set a timer on my phone and it would vibrate when a minute was up and I knew I could take another bite. Download the app Eat Slower. It really helped me.

    Quest Bars?

I didn't care for them either. too medicinal tasting.
  11. How frustrating! I hope they can figure it out soon and give you some relief!
  12. sounds like to band was too tight, I agree with NewGirl. It may have been as simple as removing the Fluid from your band.

    MAJOR HAIR LOSS!

No hair loss yet, but then I cut off all my hair in anticipation of losing it during weight loss!

    Waiting and waiting

I know what you're going through. I went through the same thing once I got my surgery date. How would I ever wait that long!! Once I made the decision to change my life, why did I have to wait so long!!! It was agony. But I had a little secret. I had some meds prescribed by my doc to control anxiety. That was the only thing that kept me sane while I waited.
  16. Congratulations on your massive weight loss! That in itself is quite an achievement. Take pride in your accomplishment. And please don't be so hard on yourself right now. Maybe your body is craving fats for a reason. Do you take supplements/vitamins? Are you getting enough Protein? Drinking enough Water? Maybe you just need to be extra gentle with yourself for a while. I know the tendency is to beat ourselves up and that has to stop. We're only human. Take care.

    I crossed my legs today

Yay!! That's fantastic. I can almost do it, takes some effort. Enjoy your victory!!
  18. I haven't had an issue with Peanut Butter by itself, like on a spoon. But I eat it slowly and not very often. Funny how I don't really miss sandwiches that much. Planning lunch for work is a challenge. I usually bring leftovers from dinner the night before. A Protein (beef, chicken) and some veggies. Sometimes I get a salad, but I tend to get stuck with all that lettuce. Tuna salad, chicken salad are good for lunch too. Soup could be an option.
  19. I tend to avoid the things that get me stuck as well. It's just not worth it. I can live without the sandwich bread, pizza crust etc. I had enough of that pre-band. And I don't really miss it that much either. As I continue to get more fills and get closer to the green zone, the cravings are subsiding. This band is a wonderful thing.
  20. for me being stuck means a big pain in the middle of my chest and sometimes hard to breath. It's a little scary the first time and it can take several minutes to pass. It has really helped me to learn to eat slowly and take smaller bites.
  21. Never have steak again!!! Oh no!! Try tiny bites and chew, chew, chew. I thought my days of fajitas were over, but I was able to eat small bites, chew thoroughly and no tortilla! And I didn't eat near as much as pre-band days. It's all a learning process for me!
  22. It is the worse feeling ever. I got stuck on pizza and it was horrible. Yep it had to come back up. I learned my lesson! No pizza for breakfast!!

    Banded for two days now!

Welcome to the other side fellow bandsters! It only gets better!
  24. Having my surgery in August. Not sure how long to ask off for. I do mainly office work and sit all day. What would you recommend? Thanks!
  25. What I discovered for me was that physically I was able to return to work in about a week. Emotionally it was more like two weeks. I took the time to finish the liquid diet, start on mushies, get used to having a band all in the privacy of my home. I was glad I had to the time to take off, but was bored by the end of it and ready to go back to work.
