HI, Been having some challenges over the last 4 weeks. I am 2 years out from surgery. Found out my band has slipped. So now I am unfilled for the next two weeks. Then will meet with doctors to discuss the next steps. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Did the band adjust its self? Did you have to have another surgical procedure? Would love to hear some feedback

Hello all! I'm in the beginning stages of getting lap band. We haven't set a date yet but I'm hoping I could get my surgery by the end of the year. I'm suppose to be moving about 2 hours away from my family to go to university for Spring 2015 semester (January 7). I was wondering what the recovery time is for it and how soon I could get back to school without complications. My campus is pretty huge, I would be walking about 3 to 4 miles everyday to school. Do you think it's wise to wait for the surgery? Or will I be able to manage a new environment and lap band? Thanks!

I was banded 9-2-08. Everything seemed to be going fine and then 2 weeks after surgery I started itching all over and wherever I scratched I broke out into hives. I am wondering is this an allergic reaction to something else or to the band? I went to my family doctor and he said it could've been something I ate (which I doubt since I am on a liquid diet and I haven't changed the foods I've been eating) or possibly something else which I may never know. I hope it's not the band but is it possible to have an allergic reaction 2 weeks after surgery? My family Dr. gave me a steroid shot and put me on prednisone and an antihistamine, it is controlling the itching but what if i…

How would "green juice" do with the lap-band? Wondering if that might be a good way to get nutrients in without being able to eat a large volume of fruits and veggies? My typical green juice amounts to about a 12 oz glass and consists of (1) green apple, (2) celery stalks, (1) handful of baby spinach (1) kale leaf, (1) cucumber, (1) lemon and (1) tablespoon Bragg's apple cider vinegar. During a health kick, I usually make one daily and it actually provides a nice jolt of energy. Adds up to 60 calories... less than eating everything individually, since you're pulling out the Fiber. Good idea or bad idea with the lap-band? Trying to get a plan together for my 4 - 6 mo…

SO I'M TRUSTING HIM TO SEE ME REACH MY GOAL, WHICH I ALSO PRAYED ABOUT A FEW YEARS AGO WHEN I WAS TRYING TO LOSE THIS EXTRA PERSON PRIOR TO EVEN KNOWING ABOUT THIS PROCEDURE, WHICH HE ALSO GAVE ME, WHICH WOULD MAKE ME HAVE A NORMAL BMI, IT'S 140 lbs. Hi folks! I'm doing a program called Couch to 5K which trains you to be able to run a 5k at the end of 8 weeks. I'm week 4, and can't believe that I can run a whole 5 min stretch! Never been able to before ever! However, I am noticing that my port area is tender after these runs. Am I doing damage, or am I stretching the muscles, or what? Any ideas? I am 4 months post op. I will ask my doc about it at my next appt in a week.

  10. Hello all! I tried really hard to find a little more information on the subject on my own but to no avail I didn't really find an answer. So I know that different altitudes caused by traveling (such as in planes), that time of the month, seasons, and the time of the day can all affect the tightness we feel in our bands. What I want to know has anyone experienced feeling restriction with fewer cc's at a later time?

  11. So I am going Wednesday to make sure my band has not slipped or eroded. I got everything removed from my band about 2 months ago and I have to get 3 fills since. I still have no restriction so my doctor said she wanted to check and make sure everything is fine.Has anyone ever had a your band slip or an erosion and there not be any symptoms other then no restriction?

There are some points during the day when I have so much restriction I can't swollow anything no matter what consistancy it is. There are other points in the day when I have no restriction whatsoever and it's as if I never even had the surgery. This is so frustrating and I have given up on my weight loss journey because this surgery that was supposed to help me has only made things more difficult! I want to do a band to sleeve revision however I have only had the band for 9 1/2 months. I don't know what to do. I am also unable to see my surgeon at the moment.

Hi all. I had a Dr appt and because I had been vomiting/PBing a lot, the Dr removed all the fluid just to see what I definitely had in there. I had to switch Drs due to insurance so this was my first visit with the new Dr. I had 7.3cc in there (I thought I had 6.5cc, not that the amount matters). He put 7.1 back in because 7.3 was too much. Well, I'm no longer vomiting or PBing but I definitely don't feel any sort of restriction at all. So, I obviously need to have some more added. I'm wondering though if going from 7.3 to 7.1 is really that much different. And, if I go back and tell him I'd like him to up it to 7.2, would that make that much of a difference? Could it be …

Hi, I was adjusted 8 days ago by another 2 mls to make a total of 6 mls in my band that can take up to 9mls. I first thought it was just the swelling and it would ease. I'm only managing tiny amounts and then I feel disgusting and full and uncomfortable. (Not even 5mouthfuls at times for this to happen) and I find I can't eat in the morning and I can't eat later than 4pm without being sick as it's stuck. This is only my 2nd adjustment I've had as I was only banded at the beginning of July this year. Any thoughts? Could it still be the swelling?

Hi everyone. I recently found the forum again after some time away. I've had my band for 12 years and did a good job of maintaining a BMI of about 27 (still overweight but not obese) until this past 6 months. My total loss was 134 pounds but I have gained back about 30 pounds since January. I've been very stressed out with work, a pending divorce, new relationship and a son who is having issues in school and I basically found myself eating too much and the wrong foods. I finally got the nerve to get my first fill in about 7 years. I was really nervous. I only ended up getting 0.2 added to my band but my hunger and general interest in food has gone way down! I am…

Morning everyone. I've been pretty frusterated over the past 2 weeks or so after returning to work. I am having a hard time planning meals and with hunger in general. My body is just really throwing a tantrum about being back on nights. I gained 4 pounds over the last 2 week. I am actually ok with that though. I recently began tolerating firmer mushies and solids a lot better so that makes me smile. I've been pretty fatigued over the past few weeks. I take my vitamins and get in my protein. I'm only walking about 45 mins a day about 4-5 times a week at the moment. I just wonder how some of you other graveyarders make it through the day and night.

One of the main reasons I decided to get lap band surgery was for my health. I'm 38 and have high blood pressure. I've been on meds since my early 30s. Most of my family has hypertension and some have even had heart attacks. I didn't want that. I'm 1 month post op and I've lost 22.5 lbs. My hormones are definitely out of whack after surgery and weight loss (feminine issues!) but the great news is that I have been taken off of two of three BP pills last week by my dr. I was taking four pills a day and now take half a pill a day since my BP is more normal. This makes me so happy!! I feel like I made one of the best decisions for myself and hope it continues to go well.

I am going on October 7, 2014 to have my lapband revised, cause I have developed a hernia that has slipped my band. I was originally 292 lbs but lost 137 lbs and then got sick with brain cancer and lost about 40 more lbs so I was at 115 lbs. But had looked very sickly, I have since put back on almost 70 lbs. So when I have this revision done I am going to need some help. I am looking to lose maybe 20 to 30 lbs after this revision. I am a 38 yr old female who is married with a wonderful husband and two beautiful children. I am a stay at home mother, and I live in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Thank you April

  25. I have my first appointment with a local surgeon and his office next week. Any suggestions on what I should ask??? Maybe things you wish you would have asked, but didn't? Making a list, because I know it will all be a blur when I get there. They said to prepare for 1 1/2 - 2 hrs, including labs and conversations with surgery coordinator, insurance coordinator, nurse and surgeon. I've already attended their mandatory information session and submitted all advance paperwork and insurance forms. Thank you!

I can only sip.. I know the right thing to do is get a slight unfill. But after gaining 50lbs from medication and my pregnancy.. I want to lose thr weight again. Hopefully by day 3 I'm able to drink more.

I'm still not always thinking like a thin person. I took out my jeans this morning and just before I put them on, a quick thought went through my head that they wouldn't fit. I knew they would but I still recall easily that fear or unease every time I'd put on my pants when I was obese. I always feared they wouldn't fit and that fear is still there obviously. It's especially hard now beacause the jeans are really small and I don't realize that I'm small alot of the times. Still working on body image issues though it is getting better. The other random thought today is that we really really need to not obsess over the scale. I admit I weigh myself daily. I do it because…

How do I get back in touch with my band? I got a fill a couple of weeks ago and I can still overeat. I thought the fill would help. I was checked out and everything was fine with the band. The nurse mentioned maybe going back on all liquids for a week and maybe that would help or doing all protein for a while. Has anyone else been told this to get back in touch with their band? I don't know if I can do a meat only diet. I did Atkins diet one time and got so sick of meat that I couldn't stomach it for a while. I don't think a meat only diet is sustainable in the long run. I need to learn to eat healthy for the rest of my life. Any advice would be appreciated.

OK folks, what's your plan for food today? Breakfast - Cinnamon Bun Protein shake (Bariatric fusion brand, I give it a B+. Good taste, no texture) lunch will probably be 1/2 cup chili with a sprinkle of cheese. dinner will be homemade hamburgers (actually turkey, and no bun) with veggies on the side. Snacks will be cherry tomatoes and peas from our garden with some deli chicken. What do you plan to eat today?

Now that I'm starting to feel better, I can eat a little, but anything even close to a cup doesn't stay down. I got my first fill on Thursday. They used the fluoroscopy . My band was primed at 2cc and then he added 2 cc. I have been eating soup and protein shakes since then and have been unable to eat any solid food. After my second bite I get an instant pain in my chest and either throw it up or wait till it passes. Am I too tight or is it too early to tell?

So, I find out tonight on the local news that my lapband surgeon (very popular in our area and the best) just packed up and moved out of his office in the middle of the night, with NO notification to his patients or employees. Besides Spanx or something similar, is there any way to encourage loss in that area? I've done crunches and all sorts of exercise, but the soft muffin flab is really looking horrible. Any ideas?

Hello right now I have no idea if my insurance is going to accept my appeal cuz they excluded all obesity related surgeries out of my plan. The doctor I called and asked how much it would cost said it was $30,000 I have no idea if that is what they charge insurance or if that's self pay. So I'm kinda shopping around to see where different prices are and where you had them done. If you could help me I would appreciate it. Thanks!!! :-)

  49. I received my first fill last Friday (today I am four weeks post-op) & I haven't lost any weight this week. I have been losing consistently (an average of about 3 pounds a week) -- so this is hard to digest! I'm exercising, eating what I'm supposed to & I lost nothing this week. Nothing! I've been practicing keeping my food clean over the last few weeks. I define clean as minimal to no fried choices, no snacking between meals, and starting with Protein first at every meal. I'm really finding that my restriction is more predictable and noticeable when I do this consistently. I was wondering last month if the fill I got was actually putting me in the green zone. I didn't think so because I could still overdo it on fried food or junk like popcorn. But a month of eating cleanly has shown me that the restriction is definitely there, and my band is indeed telling me when to stop. Such a learning process. It's easy to see now how I could mess…
