  1. Okay I'm not talking about like, 4 or 5 pounds... I'm talking like maybe 15 plus at least. I'm talking a significant weight gain. Yes it is possible for this to happen! I’m testimony to it. I gained from my lowest since banding of 227, to a current 255. Now before you get on my case, look – I know I blew it. I KNOW! Thank goodness this is a support website where we can all air our grievances without getting an earful from others who have not experienced this. I’m not looking for that. I’m looking for encouragement. Just a kind request: If you are here to tell me “Get a fill” or have an almighty attitude, please don’t. I really don’t want to hear any of that, and I tru…

Today is day 8 Post OP, yesterday was the 1st day I was able to eat on my list of acceptable things is cottage cheese, my book says I would only be able to handle 1 or 2 bites, I ate nearly half a tub, and did not get sick, not that I wanted to get sick, but the fact that I was able to eat that much worries me a bit and I feel bad for not stopping myself I knew I had, had more than I should have, but I have been on liquids Since Oct 18 and it was so stinkin good. Now I am worried that even when my band gets filled I'm not going to feel the fullness. I am also a feeling a bit depressed, I don't know if it's the weather, I haven't been able to return to my previous exercis…

So for the past couple of months i've been trying to get another fill. My insurance wont cover it so i was suppose to get some papers sent to apply for hardship. Those papers never came. I've been calling and calling the person in charge of my case and she doesn't answer. I've emailed her, left her voice mails and nothing. I tried calling the clinic where i get my adjustments and the number isn't working, Should i just look for a different place closer to me to take over?

  4. I'm pretty sure I'm in the red-zone and too tight. On Monday, I'll be calling to get at least half a fill removed. But in the meantime... When you are feeling uncomfortable during eating, what do you do? The first situation is when I've taken too big of a bite or ate too fast (too many little bites) and I'm in pain. Of course, there are different levels of pain - sometimes it's just a little and you realize that last bite was a little too big, but it passes, you eat slower and chew better for the rest of the meal. But what I'm talking about here is that sharp pain and possible gut feeling and salivary reaction that tells you you're done sending food in and what you ju…

I feel so frustrated with myself, and disappointed. I have let sugar creep back into my life and it feels worse than ever. If it's not chocolate I crave its mints or any other sweets. It is jeopardising my success and my weight has slowly crept up over the past few months. It started when I became very stressed and just couldn't eat, the only thing I enjoyed was chocolate and sucking sweets. It's been the slippery slope! I think I will need to cut them out of my life. Anyone else experienced this ? I feel I need support ????

and pies, cakes, etc. So, while most of the rest of the world was eating Thanksgiving Lunch/Dinner, Me and hubby were building shelves at my office. My Thanksgiving dinner is today. My kids are all going to be here as well as a few inlaws and maybe a few outlaws. We are doing turkey and dressing and all the trimmings. I'm even trying a few new recipes, none of them excessively healthy. I've made a vow to avoid the "blts" as weight watchers put it BITES, LICKS, TASTES, SAMPLES. Hubby is going to play that role, since he loses weight much easier than I do. Wish me luck. Last Thanksgiving, I got stuck on my first piece of turkey and ruined my dinner. This year, I'm…

  9. Started by Miss Meg,

Hi kids, well I am 2 days post-op and I am feeling pretty sore and sorry for myself. Everything went really well and my surgeon was really pleased with how it all went. The anaesthetic made me a bit nauseous for a while but we got rid of that and now the healing begins. I can't drive or do much exercise for a few days yet, but that will all come in good time. I know the real journey is just beginning and I'm really looking forward to it. My very good friend that stayed at the hospital right throughout my surgery has taken some pictures for me and I'll post them soon. So yesterday was all about spoonfuls for me. I wanted stuffing....I wanted sweet potato, I wanted the greenbean casserole, I wanted gravy. I took my roughly 3 oz. turkey with a spoonful of gravy, and took a spoonful of everything else. Was it more than I usually eat? Yes. Did I stuff myself like the turkey? No. I made several conscious decisions during the meal. I had alcohol...more than usual but I wanted it. Won't repeat that tonight so it was simply a one off. Had dessert and not of the 100 calorie or sugar-free type. Again...a one off. Didn't even bother to get on the scale this morning. If I gained a bit, so what? Back to eating as usual today. Did n…

Oh no. I think a bug has hit me tonight. I had a normal lunch at 1pm (hummus, celery and a Quest bar) and nothing after that because I'm doing a modified fast. Felt just fine until 8:30pm. On an empty stomach I suddenly had waves of nausea that made me convulse. No food in me, so it wasn't band related. Nothing came out but saliva. I can hear my stomach churning and I thought maybe it was extreme hunger from no food for almost eight hours. So I ate two small Melba toasts. Another wave came a few minutes later, but the toasts stayed down. It feels like it may pass, but I decided to lie down for the night and not push it. I'm just nervous about vomiting.…

Today I went to fill a prescription they gave me it's a patch you put behind your ear the day of surgery so you don't get sick during surgery, it's for 1 patch, I go to CVS was told it would be an hour to fill it, I come back only to be told that I can't have just one because they won't break up a box that my surgeon needs to prescribe more, this irritates me as I don't need a whole box, and they wasted an hour of my time, I live 20 miles from a pharmacy so when I go to town, I'm stuck in town, so I go to a different pharmacy but they don't have it and s…

Hello! Ive had my band for 8 years. Orginally lost 116 lbs. Never had any real problems with it. 2 1/2 years ago the doctor opted to unfill me d/t constant nausea and vomiting with my pregnacy. I gained 30lbs during my pregnancy and have manadged to lose about 20lbs back. I really need to lose about 40 more lbs to be at my goal weight. Although i never had any issues before with my band im worried now about getting a fill again because ive been just eating whatever i felt like for the last couple years. Anyone else go through something simliar? How has it worked out getting filled and back on the "band" wagon!?

My sister asked me what I could eat and I said EVERYTHING. I'm about 3 weeks out from surgery and have no fills yet. The one thing I have to watch is stuffing. Dangerous for me!!

Just looking for some feedback from anyone that might have had a similar situation. I am currently 17 weeks pregnant and have been vomiting several times a day after eating for several weeks. I also vomit after exercise or even just from walking up the stairs. At the same time, I have pretty bad pain under my left rib cage after I eat (regardless of whether or not I vomit) that lasts for a few hours. This is usually the case only if I eat solids and not if I eat Soup or liquids. When I first found out I was pregnant I had .5 cc removed. Today I had the rest taken out when I went to go see my surgeon and explained what has been going on. He is concerned that I might…

I'm 11 days post op lap band and I am struggling to get many calories per day. How many calories is enough? Everything I eat/drink is low cal, sugar free, and am only getting 600-700 cal/day. I'm not hungry, and make myself get that. I'm still in the puréed diet phase so I'm sure I will add calories as I add food.

Hi all! I am brand new on this site. A little background. Had the lap band placed in 2010 & it was the biggest mistake of my life. I had problems from the beginning. I had it filled once to 3.5cc and left it there as that was more than enough and I couldn't eat much with that amount anyway. I ended up eating things that would dissolve in my mouth as I was starving for food that I couldn't eat (chicken, veggies, etc). I would throw up almost everything I tried to eat. I absolutely HATE my Dr. who did the surgery so never wanted to go back to him & still don't. Well earlier this year I started having massive chest pains that landed me in the ER thinking I was having…

  31. I had my lap band surgery on October 9th, 2012! The surgery and recovery went very well, but the year with the lap band wasn’t fun for me. I threw up once or twice every day with lots of mucus. I kept my lap band on for the year, hoping and praying that it would get better and it didn’t. The typical response that I received was that I wasn't chewing long enough but I was. The doctor decided that it would be a good idea to take all the saline out of my band and see how I was feeling after. After having the saline removed and still having the same problems. The doctor decided to do another scope. During the scope, he discovered that I had ulcers in my esophagus. Thin…

  32. Hi I had a fill yesterday after 3 years. 1/2ml. Today I cannot keep even liquids down and the band feels very uncomfortable. Have tried to contact a doctor but it is late Friday and no one available to speak to or take out some of the fill. Could not sleep last night as liquid kept refluxing, thought it would ease off today but not so far. Manage to perhaps keep 1/2 pint of liquid down during the day, Water and tea in small sips. Should I worry or is it just swelling from the fill that will go down in time?

I had the band placed in 2008. About 3-6 months after, I started having horrible stomach pains...doubling over, feel like someone's ripping my entire stomach apart. The pain hurts the most when I stand up straight... Almost like its being stretched too far and it's just unbearable. It usually hurts right below the diaphragm or the center/left belly and radiates all over. The pain is intermittent and I cannot trigger one thing that makes it come along. I saw my band doctor when it first started and he said it wasn't related to the band. After I went to the ER a few times for it I had multiple tests to try to figure it out. I've had X-ray, fluoroscopy, MRI, colonoscopy, EGD…

I had my band on October 29th. Everything went well for my surgery. I have been struggling lately with being hungry. I'm on the mashed diet right now and was able to eat 1/2 to 3/4 C at each meal. My doctor told me yesterday to cut back to 1/3 c for 3 meals ~ that's only 1cup of food a day. I was a little discouraged to have to cut back on my portions and I'm realizing what a strong relationship I had with food. Not sorry I did it but I'm feeling a little sad. Hopefully I can get through this, I guess in the past this is where I would give up on my diet, so that's what is good about this is I can't. Upper abdomen is mildly distended with tenderness at incision sites. No nausea at all! I have been taking narcotic pain medication every 4 hours, just because. I feel like the lack of significant pain may be due to the regional block that anesthesiologist placed prior to procedure, supposed to last 72 hours. Is anyone else here from Kearney? I'm curious if there are any support groups in town? I'm trying to restart after having a baby and am struggling to find ANYONE here who's in remotely the same boat! None of the doctors or anyone seem know anything about being banded, let alone pregnancy/nursing with a band. I checked into the Le Leche League, but of course their far more interested in breastfeeding then weight loss! I love Dr Holloway and Dot... but as far as local support I'm not finding much.
