I found that the last week I started to "test" my band. I could go into a whole psychological analysis of why I did this (another post) but that's another time. I did things like snack at night, drank too much wine, ate fast etc. just to see what happens. And you know what? I did all the things that come with that like feel nauseous, run to the bathroom at work afraid of throwing up, and actually had some food come back up. I'm like a teenager testing my parents. Hopefully I'm past my rebellious stage! Anyone else find themselves doing this?

Hi everyone! So I was banded on 1/19/12 and everything was going great. Then, I stopped loosing weight and after a few more months, I started to gain again. I am currently in the process to get the band out due to complications that seem more common than not in many patients. - Constantly vomiting, things getting stuck, can't lay on my stomach, random pains in band site (some severe, but only occasionally). Today I got all the saline out (my previous surgeon put over 9cc in and I thought it was 5!) Now I am planning on getting the band out on 11/6/14 and then the sleeve a few weeks later, although I am still contemplating that. Has anyone gone through this and can …

Insurance approved me last week so my surgery is scheduled for December 9. I'm still trying to wrap my head around that it's finally happening! I'm excited and scared and nervous and a whole range of emotions depending on when you ask me! Anybody else got the pre-op jitters?

I got my 5th fill recently, bringing me up to 8.5 cc's in a 10 cc band. I am getting worried, because I feel hardly restriction. I do chew very well, but I've never felt stuck at all, and have never had any sliming or anything like that. I am also not the best at eating slowly, but still no stuck feeling. I do feel full sooner than I used to, but I can still eat more than I should. Ugh. I'm stressing.

When did everyone start feeling comfortable with their band? I know I'm just starting out at 2 days post-op, but I can't find a comfortable position to sleep in and the liquid diet is making me crave crunchy food. Going back to work on Monday and hoping I'll feel better by then.

I'm two days post surgery with my band and looking for a band buddy. I could really use some encouragement with this lifestyle. I'm looking forward to feeling "normal" again when the pain from surgery stops and living a normal life begins. How long does it take for your insides to feel good again?

Today is New Year’s Eve, and it’s the end of another calendar year and the start of a new one. I have been thinking a lot about all the events that transpired over the last year, thinking to myself and wondering if there is something magical in the changing of the year. At midnight tonight the numbers of the year will change from 2014 to 2015. Thinking about this had me thinking about all the changing numbers in our lives….and wondering if we can find magic there as well…. We can find so many reasons to celebrate and often those “celebrations” can be the very things that sabotage us. All the food the drink the sweets oh my!!! I find that it’s easy to lose the magic am…

So I've lost 137 lbs. I currently weigh 125. Never In my life would I have dreamed that was possible. I haven't had a fill in 2 years. My band is so moody sometimes I can't keep tea or juice down. Other days I can eat a whole sandwich then I can't eat a bite. And on top of all that I still feel huge. My body is nasty with extra skin everywhere. I know I have a body image issue but I've had it my whole life. I bought size 4 pants yesterday and I can't wrap my head around how I fit in them when I feel bigger

Hello! I have had my lap band for over 4 years now.. Did not end up being successful the first several years and stop going to appointments! I recently switched doctors and got back on track and is down 40 pounds but took me over a year! I currently have an 11 cc realize band with 10 cc's in it. Previously I did not feel much restriction.. My portions were smaller but I could still eat a decent size salad or plate. My last fill was the first week do December. I had no issues all month! Small portions, avoiding foods that I know cause "stuck episode" etc. On Sunday all of a sudden my band feels extremely tight! I understand morning tightness is normal but the last three…

Starting last Saturday, I noticed my band was really tight in the morning. Don't know if it's because TOM, or just a new gliche in the band. I got a small alergy pill stuck on Saturday and again onMonday - both had one or two violent struggles to get unstuck. Have any of you had this happen, and did you feel the pain of attack for days afterward? I don't think my band slipped, but it hurts to drink Water (sore esophagus/pouch?) and once my band losens up (afternoon) I can eat - I've been eating Soup or shakes.

I have some mental health issues. This time of year is very hard on me. Tried to get into my therapist today, but he's on vacation this week. So I have some really good friends that I trust helping to get through. Yesterday I was at my daughters visiting and realized I had lost one of my diamond earrings. My heart is broken. My husband gave them to me 13 years ago on Christmas eve. First and last time he has ever surprised me. Fast forward 4 or 5 years I had a complete mental break. So bad that I am on disability. That being said my husband has a problem drinking and driving. Been caught four times. The last 2 were felonies. He's been on in house arrest twice. He hasn…

I had my band removed a week ago on 12/22 I had been wanting it out for years. I was banded 5/2007. I had nothing but problems the whole time. I did not have enough money to get it out and started to feel trapped with this foreign thing in my body. I felt like the longer it was in me, the more damage it was doing to my insides. Anyway, my insurance ended up paying for it because of complications. IT's OUT!! The surgery went well.. I was in the OR for about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Lots of pain afterward. Still recovering.. will check in

hi my fellow bandsters. one of the er doctors i work with is willing to go to mexico with me to my doctor, to learn how to do fills and unfills. are there many people in the phoenix area that would be interested in using this doctor instead of going to mexico. id like feedback. i had a bad episode of gerd last week and went to the er. i was lucky that this great doc was working, he offered to take some fill out if i told him what to do. i knew what to do and walked him through it. thank god, i was completely swelled shut . anyone interested in learning more can pm me. id like to let him know . i think it is great also to know there is a er doc that "gets it", and you ca…

On Thursday I will be 6 months post op. I have lost around 34 lbs and I have had two fill. My band is at 6cc out of 11cc. I do not believe I have got the green zone yet because I can feel myself starting to slip back into old bad habits and I have even gained a few pounds. Everyone in my family knows about my surgery which adds extreme pressure and anxiety. They are constantly pointing out that I haven't lost enough and that by this point I should be at least 60+ pounds lighter. I need advice on how to deal with the pressures of others judging your weight loss and how to get back on track so I can start losing again. I was thinking about just doing my pre op diet for 2 we…

After a year and a half post op I finally got my first fill last Monday. I lost over 120 pounds on my own with nothing in my band! I am now miserable and haven't felt right since. I have barely eaten, sure can't get in protein, I have heartburn so bad into my back despite taking my prilosec as ordered, my normal every day pills are now getting stuck and it hurts so bad. My band feels like it's spasming.. I'm just not right at all. When they filled me they had me sit and drink water till it went down easy to know how much fluid to put in, I thought that was an easy way to judge. I did have her take a little fluid out right then because it felt the water was hesitating goin…

Yesterday I had a piece of lemon pie for breakfast. Bad I know. Didn't eat lunch because I was at a concert After the concert we went to Outback for dinner. I ordered a 7 oz sirloin steak, sweet potato and mixed vegetables. Proceeded to throw the "good" food up. Does anyone know why this is happening? I have gained 10 lbs back and this is part of the reason why. I ate very little. Not even 1/2 the steak and a biteful of veggies. I can't keep good food down and junk stays down. The Dr. says I don't have enough fluid in me to be in the green zone although I had this surgery 3 years ago. I am getting very discouraged because I don't know why this is happening. A…

Hello LapBand Community, I haven't been on here in quite some time. I had my surgery at the end of 2010 and I can say that since the surgery I've lost approximately 30lbs. Anyway, I don't even care about that part right now. I know I need to do better and I really haven't. My issue is I have severe pain around my port area to the point that it hurts to touch my skin on my tummy in that area. It is always sore very tender to the touch and that has me worried. I would like to go to the doctor office that performed the surgery but they are approximately 100 miles from my home and I currently do not have a car. I called a surgeon in my area that I can get to with ease and t…

Recently it got really hard for me to keep solid and fluids down to the extent that I had to see my doctor...after consultation, I managed to deal with excessive acidity and nausea with prescribed meds...and since a barium swallow test then said the band is okay but tight-ish, I have been less anxious in that regard. .. However weeks in..I still cant eat solids without choking up and feeling pain and sometimes retching... I can have fluids and Water though really slow. Overall though I feel like my band just feels too tight...I have not had a fill at all yet since surgery to put the band was in mid September 2014...the weighing scales still shows me loosing weight…

I've screwed up and since Halloween I've reintroduced sugar into my eating. And now I'm eating everything. I've gained about 10 lbs. Thanksgiving and seeing family made reverting to old habits too easy and I ate many, many things I shouldn't have. But I'm not going to beat myself up about it. I will just get back on track. I did do something recently that I'm proud about--I ran a 5K Turkey Trot and got 6 of my family members to do it too! But then I gave myself permission to eat like a crazy lady and that's gonna stop right now. It's gonna be a rough week detoxing from sugar again. I've done it before, i'm gonna do it again!!!!!!!!! Send me some positive v…

Good Evening All! Based on lots of recommendations, I just ordered a sample pack of powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein flavors, unflavored Protein powder and first round of chewable Multivitamins and chewable Calcium citrate / D3. I got it from their "official" website and didn't really see anyone else online carrying it. Is this where everyone is buying it? Also, do they ever have any sales or promo codes available? Thanks! For the last few days I've been having pains in the chest intermittently and even woke in the night with it (never suffered with heart burn before so I thought it was this) and tonight I stupidly had a little home made pizza with the kids (first time since the band inserted) and now I can't stop vomiting and the pains are so bad. Not sure if it's just heart burn and maybe something is stuck or what!!!

Recently I bought some jeggings in size XS. At first I was OK with the way they fit, but after wearing them for a few hours, I found myself constantly hiking them up from my hips to my waist. Then I spent hours of negative thinking about how annoying it was to buying those jeggings but not be able to keep them on my body before I suddenly thought, "Jean! These are SIZE EXTRA SMALL! It's annoying that they don't fit well, but it's fabulous that extra small is too big on you! EXTRA SMALL, Jean Do you not get it?" Over and over I'm reminded that the mental/emotional weight loss journey takes a lot longer than the physical one. I'm annoyed that XS jeggings fit too loosely, …

So I jumped on the scales this morning for my weekly weigh-in. They did jump around a little to show a loss of either 0 or .6kg (600g). I am taking the .6kg. At first I was a little disappointed with this, but I need to embrace that slowly but surely is the key to success. So I've turned my frown upside down and am ecstatic with my total loss of 10.7kg... That's 23.5lb for those that don't use metric (sounds better too). I am also doing pretty well with my first fill that I had on Monday, I'm still in the soft food phase and have been chewing everything so so slowly. I haven't experienced any stuck episodes yet which I am totally thankful for. Have a great day …

At 4 weeks post op I had first fill. I learned I had 2.5 put in at surgery time. I have a 14 band. She did an aggressive fill and added 4 for a total of 6.5, two weeks later with no restriction, she added another 1.5 for a total of 8, two weeks later with no restriction, she added 1 for a total of 9......... So now I'm feeling something.... First few bites of anything feels like a lump that goes up and down up and down for a few minutes, not seriously painful but definitely not comfortable.... I still don't notice being satisfied with smaller portions yet, so no weightloss yet, is is possible to feel what I described, and still be in the yellow?

I am starting the 5:2 intermittent fast today (Mondays and Thursdays 500 calories, other days normal healthy food choices). I am also not weighing myself until Sunday. The first thing I noticed this morning was relief about not fearing whether the scale went up or down a pound this morning. My plan is to rely on Protein shakes today because they are easy to control and satisfy me. I'm going to post my experiences in this thread. All are welcome to join me.

o today is my week 2 weigh in day and my loss for this week is.... 2.7kg!!! I am beyond thrilled as this takes my grand total to 10.1kg. I've done many diets over the years and I have not reached a 10kg total loss for about 20 years so this is a massive achievement for me. Week 2 also marks the beginning of the soft food phase for me. I am currently enjoying scrambled eggs with some cheese and tomato chopped up in it. As it has been 5 weeks since I've eaten anything remotely like this - they are the best scrambled eggs I have ever eaten in my entire life... So Happy Thursday everyone and enjoy!!! livelovelapband.blogspot.com.au

Has anyone developed gastroparesis post-op? I've just been diagnosed (finally) after two years of dealing with pain and severe nausea and having every test under the sun to rule out gallbladder. As I have no history of diabetes and never had any issues prior to banding my GI doctor figures it was caused by the surgery. It messes with the mind a bit to have to live on liquids and when I do eat solids have to have Water with them after over two years of living by band rules. I haven't seen my band doctor yet (not my surgeon, I was banded in Mexico, but the local bariatic surgeon that I see for fills) since being officially diagnosed, so I haven't had a chance to ask him …

I would love a buddy and/or advice. I was banded in August of 2011, and lost 80 pounds in about a year. In October of 2012 I became pregnant with my second child. I gained 40 pounds during my pregnancy, and have been gaining and losing the same 10 pounds for over a year. I am very discouraged, but also determined to get back on track. Starting a two week liquid diet tomorrow to try to shrink my pouch and get back to losing.

Ive now got 2 boys to look after, one of which is disabled so how am i meant to keep my energy up? Thanks

Ok I got a fill over a week ago and while I am not having issues with eating I do have problems with drinking, One time in the past it was filled too much where I could not even swallow Water without throwing up, so I am confused right now. Only things I have eaten are eggs/fish and things of that nature and like eating 1 egg filled me up. But when drinking, I am uncomfortable, I am not sure if its because in the past I could always guzzle water with no problem, and now I can only take one drink. Another question I have is when I do drink I get a pain in my left back area????? I have tried to read up since its been awhile since I had a fill, I am somewhat uncomfortabl…
