LAP-BAND support. Fills, the band diet, complications, band removal, and revision to sleeve or bypass.

Hi! I'm new to the area and am looking for support and a place to get an adjustment if needed. Not sure where to go or who to see...can't get a response from a local surgeon. I've had my band for years and have been very successful. I'd like to keep it that way! Anybody else out there from this area?

I have recently moved to the area. I've contacted one lap band surgeon and have gotten no response. I even went by their office, had my records moved to them, and cannot get a returned email or call since. I am looking for a support. I'd like to weigh-in and attend support group meetings (if available). Anybody local out there with advice?

Hi guys, I had Lap Band surgery in May of 2009 - wgt 260. Then due to complications with the band it was removed in February of 2011 - wgt 170. Since then I have gained 40 lbs - wgt now 210. I am trying to be optimistic.... Can anyone tell me if they had their band removed and how much weight they gained after? I am not sure if this is average, above or below... Thanks so much for the feedback.

I know so many of us are numbers focused, myself included but we should really look at NSVs and/or the bigger picture regarding quality of life. I say this because for two years now, I've been watching my weight go down and my clothing sizes go down as well and at so many times, the two do not match up as I expected. I've said before on other posts, that I had to lose an awful lot of weight just to go down one or two sizes from my inital starting point of 4X in tops and 26/28 in pants. Yet I've noted that over the last four months, I've dropped a total of ten lbs. That's roughly .6 lbs. a week. Not much, right? Yet....I have gone from a petite medium/large to peti…

  7. I also posted this on the veterans page....... This February I will have been banded for 7 years. It's has been a journey... Ups, downs and inbetweens! I have lost weight (over 100lbs) and managed to keep it off. I have also experienced many stalls in weight loss. For over a year, I was too tight. I realized it, but was too scared to loosen it as I didn't want to risk gaining any weight. (I was also on almost complete exercise restriction due to a herniated disk which is now fixed and I am almost back to a normal exercise regime). I would throw up almost every day, almost every meal (morning were especially bad and sometimes struggled to get medications down…

Hi everyone! Little winded, but here goes: I had lapband surgery December 2011. I was up to almost 8.5cc's in my band by the time September 2012 rolled around, and had only lost 16 pounds. I was working out, felt no restriction, but at the time, the PA at my surgeon's office would not fill me any more, even though I had come in crying to her about the difficulties and frsutrations I was feeling as a result. I once saw her on a Friday, and again on a Tuesday, and even though I lost 3 lbs, I told her this is how my body has been, up and down five pounds for months now, I really need to find something that works, but she still refused. Then I got pregnant. I wasn't plann…

Newly banded here. I've noticed since I got banded my breath has been awful. In the initial post op stage I assumed it was just a little dehydration, but I'm drinking plenty now and eating soft foods. I've heard about the breath once your body enters ketosis, but how long does this last? Will it go away? I feel like brushing and mouthwash isn't doing the job anymore.

Would it be wise to follow the food plan on RTEs Operation Transformation with the band, or would I be setting myself up for disappointment? I like the idea of it but worry that once I go back to normal (not unhealthy, just realistic) eating, I'll pile it all back on. Any bandsters have any experience?

Good morning everyone.. So yesterday marked 6 weeks post-op and I have a loss this week of .5kg. It isn't a lot but it is something. I was a bit miserable to have lost nothing last week over the Christmas and New Years celebrations, but I have now moved passed that and the weight loss has started to come again. I did think it would be a bit more, but I understand that this happens sometimes, and as long as it is heading in the right direction, it will be okay. This brings my total loss now to 12.3kg and I really do feel it - yay for me!!! So have a great week everyone and I'll check in again after my next weigh in next Thursday xx livelovelapband.blogspot.…

The Dr. is more pleasant and complimetary when I'm actually following his plan lol, He gave me another fill 1.5 so I think that's 3cc all together this time I can tell a small difference, I had Tuna and broccoli salad for lunch, I bought a pound of broccoli salad at the deli, I had about 10 bites of tuna, and 10 bites of broccoli and I felt full, gave the broccoli to my son cause he loves the broccoli salad, it sort of tastes like cole slaw it's good and sweet enough to help me with that particular craving. I'm feeling awful today. I was banded on November 12, 2014. I've done well, but after having some physical issues a couple weeks ago, not related to the band, it left me tired and hungry. Now, I seem to always seem to eat more without feeling overly full. I'm out of control today, like I have no band. Shouldn't I feel sick or something from eating more than I supposed to. I'm feeling so sad and alone today. No one seems to understand!

  18. Hi! I just need some words of advice. I have had 2 fills since my surgery (that was on March 10, 2014) and my band has 5.5cc's in it. I can't tolerate bread or Pasta. But lately I feel I can eat more.. Tonight for dinner I ordered take out (Thai food) and I had 3 cups (maybe a little less) of Pad Gra Praw with chicken (it's like a vegetable stir fry in a spicy basil sauce) and 1 cup of white rice. I'm not sick, I didn't get stuck but I am satisfied. I had a granola bar for Breakfast, 12oz of chili and a cheddar cheese steak for lunch and 1 cup of salad with a hard boiled egg for a snack... Plus my waters.... totaling 1,290 calories for the day (I'm "still under" accord…

After losing 100 pounds in 2 years with the band, I had a lodging situation where they drained some of the Fluid to loosen it up. I didn't chew something good enough. I waited 2 months too get it filled again and in the meantime gained back 15 pounds.(Not Happy) But during this time I also quit smoking and this gain was over the holiday's which isn't the easiest time of year. I went in Monday and got filled almost to where I was before my lodging issue and it seemed a little tighter. Maybe I just needed to get used to it being that snug again. Hi All, I was banded in 2011 and it was a move that everybody in my family was against, I started to lose the weight and was very happy, reached my ''initial'' goal within a year and was very happy... Had a little bit of extra skin as I was too scared to work out. During this year, I was lucky enough to get my entire family living in the same city as myself, and we ALL enjoy food so much, so any gathering with parents, brother, and sister meant food, food, and more food. I was eating good portions, and had started to take my band for granted, forgetting about the rules of of not eating too fast or drinking and eating at the same time Anyways, my troubles started …

My own educational background included convincing evidence of health problems for at least SOME people. And I'm convinced in part my own Diabetes 2 is related to poor eating habits and corn sweeteners of the 1950-60-70 era. If you want a bit of exciting reading from about 35 years ago along the same lines as our 'new scientific findings', dig up a copy of the old book "Sugar Blues". Perhaps arguable yet startling and definitely on track to find physical facts relating to health and nutrition. Here's an updated report: "Is sugar making u…

Lap band in 2007, decent results (85 pounds). Untightened 18 months ago because I felt like I had developed good new habits. Went back in recently because I was gaining some weight. They withdrew the entire amount in, as they always do - said it had been stable the whole time and this was proof I had a 'good one'. Only partially refilled me because they like to do it in two steps. Second visit - can't get any Fluid out. They are concerned they poked the band. They send me to the hospital, where I go throug…

Hey Everyone, I was wondering what everyone's little indulgences were. Not food wise, but to reward yourself for maybe a couple pounds lost, or even just to cheer yourself up on a rainy Sunday. It could even be things you use at home to distract yourself so you don't think of food. Mine are: A Venti Tazo Tea with Skim Milk, Honey, and Splenda from Starbucks or Getting my nails done. I don't have any great distractions. I definitely think of food less when I'm out of the house. But sometimes I'll ride my exercise bike and if I hit my goal, I'll go get a tea!

Well, all night I had tremendous back gas pain, such reflux that I was breathing with my mouth open, and finally threw up some clear liquid.
