I have flown 2 times since I was banded. I didn't set off any metal detectors and I didn't have any issues. However, my mom is banded as well and she did set off the Orlando Airport detector with her band but there were no problems with her getting through security. She explained to them that she had the Lap Band and they were aware of it and they have had a couple people with the Band set it off. No biggie. She didn't have any other issues with it in the air. I am thinking it must have to do with the sensitivity of the detectors at the airport since it only happened at the one airport. Just my thoughts.

I was thinking what if you get a small spray bottle of water and just spray it in your mouth to moisturize (i.i. when you eat spicy foods) but it would be such a small amount it wouldn't affect pushing the food through the band. If you get a small one people would think it was breath spray and nobody would be the wiser =).

Hey...I have had this exact thing happen to me... I tried to eat speghatti which i found out I can no longer do.. the noodles would not go down...so i made myself throw up..but it still felt like there was something stuck...just like you described like heart burn with no burning...so I waited a little while and then tried to drink a smoothie and that wouldnt go down...so i went on clear liquids for 24 hours and apparently my stomach was just swollen and nothing was truely stuck in there.. 24 hours later i was good.... it is scary because i thought that i was gonna have to go to dr to get saline taken out but i only have 2cc currently and little restriction...

Hello all, I was just banded on 05/27/09 and I am doing better everyday. However, I am having issues with bloating after I drink almost anything UGH. I am drinking extremely slow to the point where I could almost use a dropper instead LOL. I saw my doctor today for follow up just to find out that the PROTEIN I need for energy is what is causing me the bloating...just great. If I don't drink the protein I get very weak and if i do drink it I fell bloated and miserable. My dr suggested that I continue to try different protein drinks or try egg white powder, yummy. Has anybody out there experienced this? Any suggestions? HELP I am sooo uncomfortable all the time with the bloating....

Hey everybody! I am getting banded on May 27th and I am very excited and nervous. I am wondering how everyone is doing with their initial weight loss on the liquid diet. I see from many other posts that the weight loss after varies from 8 lbs up to 40 lbs...? Just trying to find the average so I don't set myself up to be disappointed. Thanks
