  1. Hello, I am considering Dr. Taggar as well. So you only stayed in the hospital one day? I would be traveling from NJ to Dr. Taggar and I am curious how much time you needed to take off in Florida? Thanks in advance
  2. Thanks so much for your insight..greatly appreciated.
  3. Is there a way for the Dr to know ahead of time if there is scar tissue from the band before doing the sleeve surgery?
  4. Hi Guys... I was banded in May of 209 at 260lbs. Due to complications my band was removed in February of 2011 at 170lbs. Since then I have gained 40 lbs and currently at 210. My band has been out for 4 years now but I am considering the sleeve as well. I am just confused/concerned with the range of pain/complications after the sleeve. Does anyone know why some suffer more than others? After the lap band I was sore and had bad gas for a while but I was up and back to work within a week.
  5. Hi! I am considering the sleeve but terrified right now. Only because of the range of pain/issues with the sleeve that I am reading. Some people are only in the hospital one day and minimal pain and others are much longer with pain / complications. I am trying to figure out why some suffer more so than others... There is a forum on here specifically for Band to Sleeve patients. I think you would benefit by reading some of their stories. Hope that helps... Are you having issues with your band or have you just stopped losing weight?

  7. Hi guys, I had Lap Band surgery in May of 2009 - wgt 260. Then due to complications with the band it was removed in February of 2011 - wgt 170. Since then I have gained 40 lbs - wgt now 210. I am trying to be optimistic.... Can anyone tell me if they had their band removed and how much weight they gained after? I am not sure if this is average, above or below... Thanks so much for the feedback.

  9. Hello, I had the band for a little over a year and then had it removed in 2011. I am reasearching / considering the sleeve. I would like to know if anyone had a similar situation where they have a large gap in surgeries...? Were there any pros or cons to that? Also, did your insurance cover it as a revision? Welcome all feedback the good and the bad... Thanks Lisa
  10. This is posed to any previous Lap Banders that had a rather traumatizing experience, like I did with the band and decided to get the Sleeve. What are/were you concerns having going through the trauma with the band and then going for the sleeve. I have my band out over 4 years ago. I was 176 when the band was removed and over these years I have slowly reached 210. I fight to not gain everyday...and eat much less than most. I am wondering is there any benefits / disadvantages going from a band to a sleeve? I appreciate all the feedback! I am really on the fence...not sure what to do...
  11. Can anyone tell me what your recovery time was with the sleeve? From day of surgery until you felt you could go back to work (if a desk job)? Thanks!
  12. Lap Band from 2008 to 2010. Starting weight 261 Weight at removal 176. I had many issues with the band. food would get stuck, I devoloped Gerd, towards the end I was only able to take in liquids even with the band being empty. I feel that there were too many fills and unfills causing my stomach to react and never was normal. Since the removal of my band I have slowly gained weight back and I am at 210 today. I have recently been getting down about my weight again. I am perfectly healthy otherwise. Bloodwork is perfect. Thyroid is healthy. I called my insurance today and they do cover Bariatric Surgery. Considering the Sleeve this time around but petrified to pursue due to my experience with the Band. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks Lisa
  13. I have flown 2 times since I was banded. I didn't set off any metal detectors and I didn't have any issues. However, my mom is banded as well and she did set off the Orlando Airport detector with her band but there were no problems with her getting through security. She explained to them that she had the Lap Band and they were aware of it and they have had a couple people with the Band set it off. No biggie. She didn't have any other issues with it in the air. I am thinking it must have to do with the sensitivity of the detectors at the airport since it only happened at the one airport. Just my thoughts.
  14. I was thinking what if you get a small spray bottle of water and just spray it in your mouth to moisturize (i.i. when you eat spicy foods) but it would be such a small amount it wouldn't affect pushing the food through the band. If you get a small one people would think it was breath spray and nobody would be the wiser =).
