Can I just just start by saying that I've worked out that I'll never work out how the human body works. Somehow this week, I've managed to lose 1.9kg bringing my total to 16.4kg lost. How this has happened I'm not quite sure, I haven't really done anything different and I haven't exercised at all this week. Maybe it's .5ml fill I had in my last week coming in to play? Maybe it's my body catching up with the slow couple of weeks previous? Maybe it's a multitude of things? Who knows????? One thing I do know for sure though is that I am beyond thrilled with it. It's just the encouragement I need to continue pushing forward... I hope everyone else is having a great…

I had to be unfilled 6 weeks ago due to being too tight and vomiting mom stop. When I had my surgery to put my band in he fixed the hernia. No more acid reflux after that until now. I got a small fill 2 weeks ago and feel no restriction but for the past three nights I wake up with horrible acid reflux. I am really worried. I go back for another fill in 10 days. When he fills me I under the X-ray the whole time and was told the bad was great and in the right position no worries. So now I so afraid that something is wrong and I do not have the money to do anythin as my insurance doesn't cover anything. Advice???

The weather? Yes. My body? YES. Have many of you stay cold after surgery? I don't mean chilly. I stay so cold... Bone chilling cold. Normal or not?

Long story short. Had surgery about 4 years ago, lost almost 100 pounds in the first year. Then I broke my leg and had emergency surgery, 10 screws and a 6 inch steel plate later I sat around for 4 months and put on half the weight. I was laid off, and then my surgeon moved his practice away from Dallas. A year ago I moved back to Omaha when my dad had a stroke. Finally got my medical records, insurance and can get a fill, which is supposed to be next week. I feel like I am starting over, I am not even sure how many days to have fluids and then transition. I am not sure how many CC's are evn in my band. I dont have much restriction unless its a chunk of bread. Wh…

I had lap band placed on November 13. I went in yesterday for my second fill. I have a total of 4 ml. I have lost 29 lbs since surgery. My doc recommends liquids for 24 hr after fill. Yesterday it seemed ok, but today seems incredibly tight. I feel restricted even with water. It goes down, but I can definitely feel it. I haven't tried anything solid. Yesterday I had a couple protein shakes, and so far today only water. Should I give it a few days to adjust or have a little removed? I felt no restriction with my first fill so this is foreign to me. Im okay waiting a little to see if I get used to it, but a little afraid it will only feel tighter.

Has anyone done or tried Whole 30? For those who don't know it is a little stricter than paleo, but the gist is no grains, no legumes, no dairy and no sugar. Lots of Protein with fresh veggies and fruits. I am going to try this begining Feb 1st as a way to help me kick my sugar addiction and was just wondering if anyone else has done it. It is not meant to be permanent as you can reincorporate items back into your diet. I am sure some people stick with it, but I do not plan to. Just kicking my addiction to carbs and sugar to the curb. A system reboot of sorts.

I saw this quote tonight and love it!!!! It should remind all of us that no matter how slow, fast, hard or easy our success is if you never give up you can't be beat. Just keep on keepin on and theres no way anything can beat you; not a person, not your situation, not the number on the scale!

I am sure there have been several threads in the past and in different locations regarding depression and our band process, but this is about me so I am starting a thread. February has not my friend. My oldest son's birthday is the day before Valentine's and that so far has been the highlight. My husband and I actually have a very strong relationship, but it seems, without fail, that we always end of fighting on Valentine's. I think I officially hate it. I'll save my romance for a non-commercialized day, thankyouverymuch. There have been 4 bad-food events in just these 2 and a half weeks. And I know food choice should be up to me and that it is possible to make g…

My surgery was on January 27th. I'm not sure if my band has anything in it however probably due to the swelling I did have some restriction. Now I don't think I have any restriction. I feel like I'm eating as much as I would before surgery. My 3week f/u with my surgeon is next Wednesday. Thinking I should go back to liquids until I get a fill.....any thoughts?

Dear all, I wanted to ask if anyone of you faced what I am facing these past 6 months, I have been on regular 1500 CAL diet and doing 3-4days workout and 5K,10K as cardios plus lot of weight training but I am not able lose weight and I dont know why? Then, recently I did HCG Diet which was basically throwing my money away as I lost Zero pounds from that but since beginning of this program they recommend you go through blood test and I found out that I was becoming anemic which deitan said its normal for lap-band including hematologist thus got my Iron infusions through I V now my iron levels are back to normal including Ferritin levels ( Iron gas tank measurement in …

Hi Everyone! I am back with an update. I am having my band removed on June 4, 2015 and six months later will have the gastric bypass procedure. I did lose 34 pounds with the band, which is awesome. The weight loss has helped me be more active. However, I am almost seven years out and I am having band issues, which include port pain which is not associated to a fill; loss of a lot of fill Fluid within weeks of a fill; and being stuck which landed me in the hospital. So, to the banded veterans, are you having your band removed or is it removed already? AND are you having another WLS procedure? Please share. Thanks,

Has anyone every heard of that? My band is in place but somehow the tubing goes up above the band and down. My surgeon said it wasn't placed that way. So when I eat it makes the tubing press against my diaphram and gives me referred pain in my lower left back. CRAZY! So I'm wondering if I should have it out. My surgeon just wants to do a revision because he doesn't like lap bands because of all the maintenance. Rebecca

Hi all, So I'm in a dilemma. I got my lap band done way back in 2005 and have had two band slippages. I am getting married in April 2015 and I am worried that my band may have slipped again. I have not been to my doctor in almost two years and I am afraid to go because once I tell him my symptoms he will want to do a scope and find a problem. I have really bad reflex at night and sometimes vomit in my sleep when I wake up on my stomach. In the mornings I always vomit and it is a black liquid and burns. I am able to hold down food and have no problem eating. It's just at night. I am down 110 lbs and I bought my wedding dress and do not want to gain anything d…

Hello All, Has anyone found a fill doctor in the Houston area? My UHC insurance has an exclusion so I'm considering having my surgery in Mexico with Dr. Jose Rodriguez. He charges $7300 for self-pay and I heard he's a pretty good doctor. I don't want to have the surgery until I find a fill doctor near Houston because I won't be able to continuing going back and forth to Mexico. Also, do y'all know anyone who developed the Mixed Connective Tissue (MCTD) auto-immune disease after having the lap-band procedure? I have Graves' disease and hyperthyroidism and was concerned about developing another auto-immune disease after the procedure.

Today is 11 weeks post-op for me. I weighed myself this morning to find a 0 loss. I'm not too concerned about it but I am just a little frustrated because it makes for only a 1kg loss in 3 weeks. I am getting my 3rd fill today which should be .5ml which will make 4ml in my band. I do really think that I am very close to the green zone and am hoping that will happen with this fill. I know that should move things along a little. I know I will get there, it's just hard to not get frustrated at times.

I have had the band two years and lost a lot of weight. About a week ago I started to pick up problems couldn't even keep water down. Went to my surgeon yesterday he did a complete unfill. I also have what I can only describe as a terrible chest infection, I was a bit surprised as the doctor seemed to think this was related, I expected to wake up this morning feeling great, well this has not happened. Can anyone tell me am I expecting to much? Will the coughing go away now? How long till I feel good again. The surgeon also said if no improvement the band will have to come out. I would hate that, but I can't stand feeling this ill.

Tonight I came home and thought I was starving so I grabbed a quick weight watchers meal and an oz of cheese. When I finished I was amazed at how totally satisfied I was (am). How crazy is that???? Even though this has happened to me multiple times its still hard for me to believe!! No matter how hungy I am I can still only eat a certain amount. Why??? Not because it restricts me from eating more but because I've learned to listen to my band, know the signals and STOP. Before the band I would've snacked while cooking, then helped myself to a full plate or TWO, had dessert and still grazed until bed. Its simply amazing how this band has changed my life in so many ways. …

This post is half sharing of my experience with the band, an half question (see down below!). I'm still new to LapBand, and working to get into the green zone. I had surgery in November and after about 3 weeks of healing I could eat the same foods and portions as I could pre-surgery (this is normal). After my first fill I didn't feel any restriction yet (also a normal occurrence). After my second fill I finally started to get restriction. I found that I could still eat all of the same foods as before as long as I was slow and mindful. If I took a bite of something while distracted (this happened often at work -reading emails while eating- or sometimes at home -watching …

Hi folks. I have a question about belly buttons? Has anyone who had weight loss surgery ever experienced a sore belly button? I was banded in 1/2014....around November I noticed a brownish ring around my belly button that had an odor to it. I cleaned it, used proxide and forgot about it for the day. The next morning before my shower, I noticed that outside my bellybutton had a red ring and inside it was as wet as could be.... now three months later, still have a sore spot in my belly button, still wet/oozing and sometimes appears to be thick slime inside my belly button. It hasn't had an odor since the first couple days in November, but never has there been a day th…

Hi all. I had my band removed 22 days ago and oh my the pain is unbearable. I've had 3 ceasarian sections and a tummy tuck and I've never felt pain like this. The consultant said I have a hematoma where the port was. I'm on Tylex and difene which isn't really doing much except making me feel pukey and constipated. Who has had their band removed and when does this pain go away? I had to pull out of college and I'm out of work also. I thought I'd be back to normal a week or two at most. The Dr said it could take up to six weeks to get better. I'm going stir crazy sitting on my plum doing nothing. It's a job getting in and out of bed and doing normal tasks like getting …

Almost 7 years since banded and I am awaiting removal. I've learned a great deal. The band has been a tremendous tutor. I'm not sure I fully knew or considered what it would be like to have the band when all the weight was gone and after so many years. My nurse did tell me they didn't really know how long bands lasted and that there was little research past 10 years at the time and so I was aware of that but it's tough to think so far forward when you are so anxiously consumed with getting your weight off. I think I still would have gone ahead even if they had told me I only had 5 years in it to be honest. I lost all my weight quickly. I have been completely unfilled fo…

One of my friends at work presumed that since being banded, I'm no longer interested in food. I tried to explain to her that I was VERY interested in food. And more that that, I am enjoying food in a way I didn't before being banded. When I was obese, the point was to eat till I was full. I tasted the food but not really...it was all about the amount of it, and the way I felt holding a big bowl of Pasta. I anesthetized with food but as soon as I was done, I knew nothing had changed. I still was dealing with whatever crap was going on in my life and all I had done was eat more than I needed to yet again. Now, I enjoy food for what it is. To suppress hunger...to…

so I love tattoos. I have several. I know some people hate them so I am hoping not to get any snarky remarks. Most of us who want to lose a significant amount of weight dread the idea of loose skin and I am no exception. I more or less already have batwings - not the worst but certainly not the best. If after I lose all the weight I want, I would consider a Brachioplasty (arm lift/tuck, whatever) except for the fact that I have a lovely inner upper arm tattoo. I would end up with a scar running right through the middle of my tat. My question is this. I know loose skin has a lot to do with genetics, skin elasticity, Water intake, and age. I know everybody's body…

I'm a week away from getting my first fill and for about two days I have had some nausea but nothing major and haven't thrown up. I've wanted to though. I know the chance of a slip is rare as it is but could it be possible to happen even before my first fill? Just need some advice to rest my mind until I see the doctor. I've also noticed my appetite has increased over the past couple of weeks, is that normal too?

I am so relieved to be on the other side of my 4 day ordeal. Last week I went to costco to get my hair, Skin & Nails liquid gel supplements and discovered that they were now offering a Kirkland brand supplement for a few dollars less. I thought I would try them since I have always found the Kirkland brand products really high quality. Fast forward to Thursday morning, I am running out of the house with the kids, forgot to take my meds, run back in the house and take my meds, just like I have since I was 1 week post op, but I knew instantly that there would be trouble, I could feel the meds piling up above my band. To make a long story short, one of the new supplem…

I had lap band surgery in 2009. My tubing separated from my band in 2012 and I gained about 60 lbs. I had it repaired in January 2013 and lost about 20 lbs of what I had gained. I went for fills for a while but it seemed that the amt of Fluid could never be regulated, either too much and I wasn't able to eat anything or not enough and was able to eat whatever I wanted. I haven't had a fill for several months now and am frustrated. Is it normal after 5 years to not feel like it is not working for you anymore?

I had some problems with my band and had it completely unfilled a couple of months ago. I would throw up every time I tried to eat and I could barely drink Water. I feel now that I am ready to start over again, but was wondering if it would help to do some sort of preop diet or maybe a liquid diet for a while before I get a fill or just go for it. I was banded 5/19/2014 and it seems like I had trouble from the start, but I feel I owe it to myself to give it another try. any suggestions would be helpful. thanks.

I'm about five weeks out post-op and just had my first fill two days ago. The nurse put in 1.0 cc (I think cc is what they measure it by??), but I don't feel any different than I did before the fill. I was hoping I'd get more of a full sensation that lasted longer between meals, but I feel....normal. I'm hungry after about three hours and really ready to eat! I do eat a lot less than I did before by about a little more than half. How much Fluid does everyone usually get in their band before it really kicks in?

Hey all banders as I'm not a a fellow bander i just wanted to share/ask you guys something. Wgen i started to look into WLS i really wanted to get a lap band but I'm in canada and we only get the bypass or sleeve covered. If we want the band we need to pay out of pocket. But after doing some research i realized that slim band was false advertising anyways because they advertise get the band eat whatever you want in smaller portions and lose weight! Now that I've read some of your stories this advertising is sooo not true. My question is how does that make you guys feel?

I was banded on July 5, 2013. I have lost a total of 81 LBS and I have more to go. The thing is that my hanging tummy won't go away no matter how much more weight I lose. So I'm getting a tummy tuck, Lipo in my back and fat transfer to butt. I feel like I'm getting the works. This will definitely help me get to my goal weight. I will post before, during and after pics. I'm putting a blog up specifically for my weight loss journey.

Have you all gone to this website? They have quite a few suggestions on food choices and information. I go there to help cut out excess sugar and oil and deciding on which dish I can add my protein powder. If you have any other suggestions I'm open to all. Can't have too many to pick from. Appreciate your insight.
