June 30, 200620 yr First I was wondering if we could have slurpee's. Second, if yes, at what stage? Third, can I have my pepsi as long as it's in a slurpee form? hehehe
June 30, 200620 yr Of course you can.....it's only sugar and carbs about 270 to 320 calories. I would say that is a mushy LOL They do have crystal light slurpee now. No you can't have pepsi in any form. LOL
June 30, 200620 yr slurpee's are grt but watch the cal count, soda should be on the no list for you. work the plan and it will happen. follow the advice of those that have gone before us, its there expertise with what works and what does not that has helped me. two months out and down 76lbs
June 30, 200620 yr Teresita - Where do you get a Crystal Lite Slurpee? I freeze mine in the bottle(add CL to 16 oz bottle of water) shake it around every our our so and have a slushy! YUMMOOOO!
June 30, 200620 yr 7 11 has slurpees, in crystal light!!!! and those coke slurpees do have carbonation.... it has LOTS of sugar....I know the crystal light tastes a little sour and a little to sweet... but i add more ice, divide a large for hubby and me, he drinks it like it is I add a whole nother large cup of ice. But I really dont like sweet stuff.
June 30, 200620 yr Yeah 7 11 carries crystal light slurpees in MD DC VA area and as Meow said, they are kinda sour sweet. They actually taste tooooo sweet.
June 30, 200620 yr I don't like the crystal lite slurpees, and I've only had like 2 of the regular ones since being banded (maybe a couple more than 2, it's been 2 years, lol). My fiance got one a few weeks ago and I took a sip... BLEAH. I don't like them anymore!
July 1, 200620 yr Boy, that much sugar these days gives me incredible stomach pain from gas. (TMI? hehe) Definitely not weight loss conducive food anyway... the guideline post-banding is no liquid calories except for your daily dairy. For optimum success, better decide now to just stay away from caloric liquids even if they won't make you die of gas pain. :phanvan
July 1, 200620 yr 7 11 has slurpees, in crystal light!!!! and those coke slurpees dont have carbonation, its just the syrup....but it has LOTS of sugar.... Actually, the Coke/Pepsi Slurpees ARE carbonated. A couple of years ago this came up on another board and someone called the folks at Southland (7/11). They were very proud of the fact that they are able to retain the carbonation, even during the freezing process. That's the Slurpee secret! Carlene
July 2, 200620 yr Yup, slurpees are carbonated! -and not just the soda flavors! It makes 'em light and fluffy. Ever notice the air pockets, light weight cup, or tongue tingle?
July 2, 200620 yr a couple of years ago when I was trying to lose weight (I did, 50lbs! which I put back on :phanvan), my dietician told me that the Big Gulp Slurpee I was drinking everyday contained between 800-900 calories! 800-900!! :omg: Now, that was a Big Gulp, but if the "regular" Slurpee is even a third the size of the highest estimate given by my dietician, that'd mean it would contain 300 calories, or, if you rather think of it like this: 1/4 of your daily calories (if you're on a 1200 calorie diet). Yikes! Grumble. Coco ps--I was drinking the Slurpee because I thought: "well, surely *this* is mostly ice and air and can't possibly as bad for me as the, ahem, eight oatmeal chocolate chip Cookies I eat every night." Sigh. Pitiful, I was, says Yoda-Coco.
July 2, 200620 yr See... I knew that lady was lying!!!!! I asked if they were carbonated and the lady said no, but I always thought they were... thats why they always taste flat if ya stick it in the freezer!!!! Stupid lady.... Thanx for the info... Sorry, My Bad
July 2, 200620 yr Uhmm, post band right after surgery, I loved the shaved ice snow cone things. Too much sugar, I know, but the ice felt soooo goooood on my tummy.
July 2, 200620 yr Learn something new every day... I didn't think there was carbonation in slurpee's (high calories yes). The crystal light slurpees are G-R-O-S-S imho. bummer~
July 2, 200620 yr I don't think carbonation would survive all that stirring. Those machines STIR constantly - that's why the slurpee is "light and fluffy". Carbonation dissapates quickly if you stir a coke with a spoon so how would the stirring mechanism in the slurpee machine be any different? I don't think the amount of carbonation left in a slurpee would be a problem for your band. JMO
