Lately losing weight has been such a challenge. I seem to do everything right but yet the weight doesn't seem to want to drop.. I had great success in the initial months dropping 50Plus rapidly and then since jan almost another 20. Some would look at almost a 70lbs loss as a success.. I still see the obese woman when I look in the mirror. I managed to get myself well into the red zone don’t recommend that. – have had a slight un fill since then – feeling a lot better – but still making stupid food choices. Lately I find myself back where I was a year ago – I’ve been eating a lot lately.. Portion wise they are band safe.. But the frequency is alarming and the choice even…

Hey guys, I am new to this forum but have read a lot of posts so far. I am basically looking for guys around my age that have had the surgery. I have finished all my pre-op test's and now am just waiting to hear back from the hospital about a date (should be in the next 2 months). Most of the blogs that I have read seem to be by middle aged women, while it's great to hear everyone story and journey, I just don't relate to a lot of their experiences. If any guys around my age have been through the process I would love to hear from you. Also if anyone knows of a good blog to follow please let me know. Thanks!

I had six fills and was up to around 7 in my band with still no restriction, no stuck episodes, hunger immediately after eating, etc. Each time I would go in to the office they would give me very small amounts (.3, .6, 1). I started with 3-4 in the band at surgery. After a year and only 15 lbs lost I had basically given up and stopped going in for 6 months. I went in this month and asked for an X-ray. Sure enough, band was loose and the nurse only pulled 4 out of my band. She added a full 2 and now I finally feel like there's a difference. What could have happened? The nurse said she's not concerned about a leak... But where would the fluid be? How could the numbers be s…

Had my band removed. If was no working for me. I have had problems from the beginning. I have lost no weight. I had band put in last year, still felt nothing, and I had around 4 or 5 cc in band. My surgeon put .5 cc in each fill. For the last month I have had port pain, and my Surgeon went in this morning to look for flipped port, the port had pushed through some of my tissue. the surgeon removed it. I am sad, thought if would work for me. I will be so happy to get back to normal.

Hey everyone. I have had my band for a year and have been very successful this far. Except for one little thing. I have been stuck at the same weight for a while. I only have about 23lbs until I get to my goal but I can't seem to break thru this plateau for anything!! I am def in my green zone as far as adjustments. I have 8.8 cc's in my band. I only eat about once a day cause I'm truly never hungry and I try to exercise 3-4 times a week. Any tips or helpful hints to help me get back on the losing track?

So here's a question. Lately I have been emotionally eating because one of my day care children that I've been taking care of since nine months old is now ready to leave. I feel like a mother that has a child going off to college I've been so heartbroken over it that I've been doing some emotional eating. How do you cope with emotional eating and emotional difficulties and what do you do instead of eating? I just feel so sad.. My baby is leaving.. Everyone at work makes fun of me over being so sad, but since 9 months (she's now 3 years 4 months) we have had an emotional bond. I have clothed, cleaned, groomed, potty trained, and bought clothes for this little girl. She…

As most of you know I go to the pool in the mornings...I have been walking/swimming with a very sweet lady (Debbie) this morning we got to talk about me having an appointment for a fill. She said she had the lapband done years ago and it didn't work for her. I asked her a few questions and asked her why she stopped going to the clinic? We talked some more and I think I got her talked into going back to the doctors and make sure everything is okay and she can start again!!! She actually went to the same surgeon I went too...so I know the way things work, I am praying she goes back and gets another fill. Just talking folks!!! Hope yall are having a super great day!!! Gonna …

I got a fill in my band about 9 days ago. I finally felt restriction. I wasn't hungry, I felt good and what I ate was fulfilling. I even started to lose weight. That seemed to of stopped about 4 days ago. I no longer feel restriction. I keep thinking maybe my band slipped. But I don't have any of the symptoms. I did manage to have a stuck moment on three occasions. They didn't last long. It felt really tight. Could that of made my band slip? I have a 12cc band and I am at 12cc.

Hi there, I am curious whether the weather is a factor in band tightness -- it's been very cold here and I'm wondering if that might make for more restriction or less? And now I'm wondering if this is a ridiculous question but I will go ahead and post anyway. I'm getting close, I think (hope) and wonder if spring will be a whole new ball game as far as how my band behaves.

So it's been awhile since I last posted, but I'm still loving my lap-band! I had my second fill last monday, where she gave me .5ccs (my first fill was 4.4ccs). I was pretty disappointed when I heard how low she was going, but I agreed anyway, bc she didn't really want to give me one in the first place. I'm 3 months out and lost 50 lbs between pre-op and now, so she was really happy with my progress. Well.. I'm thinking i might be at green, or close to it. I can still eat and enjoy foods, but I'm noticing i get stuck if I'm not mindful of my eating. I've had 3 pb episodes, so I really need to focus on small bites, chewing well, and listening for my signals (usuall…

This morning I had first adjustment. 1.5ccs added to what was my empty band. Dr did under ultrasound and I was able to watch. Very cool. I had to drink something kind of nasty and watch it go down and through the band. I'll go back in six weeks just to his office to check adjustments from there. Loving this band so far. Hope to have some more weight off before my next visit. I can start doing some weight lifting exercises now so that should help too!

I will be getting banded on this coming Thursday. I've picked up my Gas-X strips, got liquid Vitamins, broth, Jello, popsicles, Water, tea, crystal light. Also prepared my living room for me to camp out there a couple of days since I have recliners there. Got Power of Attorney signed in case my daughter needs to do business for me as well. And got the heating pad that goes around you neck and rest on your shoulders. Can anyone let me know if I may be forgetting anything or give me some tips on realistically what to expect?

Here is a great low carb recipe that I made up myself: 4 skinless boneless chicken breast 3 tblsp butter tblsp garlic powder 4 tblsp lemon juice. 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese Pre heat oven to 375. Place chicken in a non-stick baking pan. Pour lemon juice over chicken...sprinkle garlic powder over it, then thin slice butter and lay it randomly over chicken. Sprinkle parmesan cheese over the top. Bake 45 minutes. You know it is done when your cheese turns golden brown. A tasty recipe

I am at my green zone for the second time (dilated the first time and had to have unfill). For the most part, I am loving it. I'm not hungry. It takes less than a cup for me to be satisfied and only 2 bites passed satisfied to be completely miserablly full. I take dice sized bites, chew for 30 seconds, and wait 45-60seconds between bites. My band is working and I am working with my band. It's great! Why frustrated you ask?? It's been a week since my most recent adjustment that got me back to the green zone. I've pretty much had one meal a day for the last 8 days. I have long time banded friends that eat this way and it doesn't bother them. Well - I find myself thinkin…

Hey fellow bandsters, I hope everyone is having a great week! On the way to work this morning I was listening to the radio, 100.5 in Greenville, SC and there was a topic that made me chuckle. First on the news was the law suit that had been taken out against "Sketcher Shoes" People actually sued because the company in the advertising campaign actually said the shoes could make you lose weight. I had to laugh to my self, seriously, people actually thought the shoes would make them lose weight. But then I started thinking, hmmm, how many times have I sat up at night and watched infomercial after infomercial thinking. "Maybe that would work", I think I could do that diet,…

Hey everyone! So I have a blog that I update weekly but I recently decided to make an Instagram account that was related specifically to my weight loss. I thought maybe I'd post progress pictures, healthy food ideas, and other motivational kinds of stuff to it. I don't know if anyone else does that too, but if you do, lemme know! I want to build up a good support system. Feel free to add me!! --> BlissfullyBanded

Between family parties and celebrating my last blast for awhile before starting nursing school, working overnights, breaking up with my bf of three years and gaining a new one... This summer has been a hell of a ride and my weightloss efforts have suffered. I really let all of these things take the front seat in my life. I have put my weightloss on the back burner. I did well for awhile and when I get back into that groove I lose pretty quickly. I just saw a 2 week pause and kind of gave up. I can't seem to find the drive to get back into my low carbing and I keep finding that I am making a lot of excuses for myself. I have found out how to eat around the band even though…

I had lapband surgery in 2009 in Phoenix with Dr Terry Simpson. Fast forward to now, where I am happily married, pregnant and suffering miserably from the lap-band! I did not feel comfortable going back to Dr Simpson with my issues...his office turned into a 'cattle call' with too many patients and little to no time for questions. You virtually lined up to be seen. I was also offended on two occasions, once by a fellow patient who snickered at me and said 'why the hell are you here?' and a staff member that told me that my minimal weight loss (from 200 to 185) was probably because my body was comfortable there...huh? The last straw was my attempt to go in two weeks ago…

Hey folks, I have had my band for 6 years now, finally went in for a fill b/c I noticed weight gain and very little restriction. When I finally decided to get a fill, under the x-ray they saw that the port and tube was disconnected. Next step is an Endoscopy to see what needs to determine exactly what is going on and what needs to be done. Ok so here I am at this point. 1) I have to finance as my insurance deductible is extremely high so I have to pay OOP. which will have to wait because of the $$$$'s 2) Second I am so nervous about having surgery again as my options are a port replacement or a new band if needed. I'm really concerned and could use some support, please …

I know it's normal. I know it will grow back. I know it's not that noticeable except to me because I have such thick hair to begin with. But it sucks, it's scary, and it makes me sad. At three months post banding my hair began to come out and at four months it's coming out by the handful. I disagree with people who blame it on Protein. I get my protein every day and always have. Carnivore here. I also disagree with the losing weight too quickly theory. My loss rate isn't fast enough to cause hair loss. I tend to believe that it is indeed the hair follicles' reaction to surgery and/or anesthesia. But, whatever the cause, it unnerves me. I tend to take …

I need some support and advice from fellow bandsters. I just had my surgery on July 30 and Thursday this week I'll start my mushy phase of eating. I already tested the waters and ate chips and a small piece of grilled chicken and I didn't get sick. Which is a good thing but now that I know that I won't get sick I've been eating here and there and I know technically my stomach isn't ready for it. How does everyone deal with temptations and having self-control it's so hard for me. Any advice? I don't want to screw this up and not loose weight ????

Just found this forum, first post. Banded a week ago, moving from Clear liquids to full liquid diet. Dr. advised full liquid for two weeks and wants 80 grams of Protein a day. i tried the strained low fat cream of chicken Soup and added a scoop of GNC whey protein. What an awful mess, was like glue and just unpalatable. Needless to say my dogs loved it! Any suggestions on getting the protein with the small 1/4 cup size portions needed during this full liquid phase. Thanks for any advise

Okay so I have had my lap band 20 months. I got down to 168 but had some health problems and put on weight most of it was Water weight but I had to get my band unfilled so some of it wasn't. I am wanting to get back on track and get back down to where I was because after putting the weight back on I finally figured out what I wanted my goal weight to be. I would like to start by doing a liquid diet but I cannot remember the diet I was on before my surgery. I lost 18 pounds in 2 weeks and would like to try to do that again. If anyone can give me suggestions on what your liquid diet was it would be greatly appreciated=) Thanks!

Hi guys - i'm 10 months post-op and I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed that their voice gets a bit deeper after a fill? I'm being very kind to myself this next few days and only having liquids b/c I'm at the most fill I've ever had - even tighter than when I had the mishap and almost collapsed my esophagus - just wondering if this deep voice could be an indicator of being too tight... let's hope not!

I was banded in 9/2011. Prior to then, I had not had any health issues other than being obese and some irritable bowel symptoms for a few months due to stress. Over the last several years I have felt by body sicken/weaken. I have bloating all the time. I belch like a drunken sailor all the freakin time!! Starts first thing in the morning and goes all day. I have discomfort almost every day all day from trying to burp and not being able to. I get gas pains in my bowels almost every day, sometimes so severe I cannot move. I never know what type of food is going to set me off or if its just from too much gas in my body. Carbs/sugar seem to trigger severe gas pains b…

Has anyone ever had a slipped band? I had a stick on Friday, August 1, 2014 and it made me really sick...have been eating mushy food the last few days...but haven't been able to eat a lot. I have alittle pressure at night when I laid down. Today I tried to eat alittle more food and could only eat a few mouth fuls...do you think its a slip or maybe I am getting close to Green? Just was wondering if I should wait another day before calling the office again. Thanks for any insight you can offer.

Ok, so I have Kaiser Permanente and their program is 6 months nutritionist visits and weight loss surgery classes. I started this in late 2010 and then changed my mind after the first weight loss surgery class. About 6 months later I changed my mind back and had to start over but only had to redo one class...went through the entire process and was approved for surgery. Fast forward to early 2012, and I met with the surgeon, and was just awaiting my surgery date . A week after meeting with him I found out I was pregnant. Fast forward to 2013 and my son is 4 months old. I called the woman who schedules the surgeries and asked what I needed to so to be scheduled for surgery …
