I am 11 days post-op and I had my follow up today. I thought I was doing fine, mentally, but this afternoon I am feeling very down and I don’t know why. I could cry at any moment. Anyone else have this problem post-op?

  2. Started by Charming23,

How long after surgery did you have to wait before you can start working out? I am not due to have surgery until May but I am a planner and like to get things in order beforehand.

  3. Started by Hlminichillo,

How long did your doctor tell you to wait to drink after eating? My packet says 90-120 minutes, but it seems most people are told 60 minutes. By 90-120 I am so thirsty. Just wondering what everyone else has been told.

Hi. I'm 19 days post WLS today and on my pureed diet period. I feel hungry and eat 3 meals and 2-3 snacks a day, in small portions of course. Count the calories of every meal and snack. Between 700-900 kcal a day. I feel guilty after eating. Think I must starve to loose more weight. Have constant feeling that I'm not going to loose anymore weight. Putting on instead. I'm 176cm tall and current weight is 280lbs. Anyone else going through same situation and how do you deal with it?

I had revision all surgery (sleeve to gastric bypass) on December 8. It’s now five days later and I have a lot of pain on my right side. Is this normal?

Hi, I had my gastric sleeve surgery on 12/8/20! I’m feeling great! I’ve been able to tolerate protein shakes, water, yogurt, broth, pudding and vitamins. ?

Hi there - had my sleeve December 2, 2019 - I’m now 5lbs away from goal weight! One thing I noticed early on is that I’m ALWAYS cold. I know losing the fat no longer insulates you, but I’m always freezing! I take enough iron, so I can’t say that’s it. Anyone else experience being cold all the time?

At the end of my first day on the pre op liquid diet and sheesh, i was ok until after work. I’m doing my protein shakes and broth and had tomato soup for dinner but dammnit I’m just hungry. So of course I’m going through the “did I make a mistake?” am I just hangry?” How did you get through it? I know I just need to keep my head down and focus, but tonight was hard, really hard.

Hi guys! I'm looking for some good recommendations for basically any kinds of meals and snacks for my lil' sleeve, there are probably threads like this out there in the depths of the forum, but it's hard sometimes finding peeps that are farther out like me. I know that's kind of vague but I'm a year and 6 months out and I've been slacking pretty bad, so I'm just shopping around for food inspo! (Covid having me locked up in the house and eating my feelings is not a good mix y'all. )

My surgery schedule for Dec 17th, a week before Christmas. I know I’ll be on nothing but liquids during this stage, and I’m really hoping I can be satisfied with my fluids only. Any tricks on avoiding desires/temptations during the holidays?

I’m 11 post op. Is this normal? Should I be loosing more weight? Will I loose more weight? Please if you’re going through the same please leave a comment. Thank you x

I am now 2+ years out from surgery and still maintaining my goal weight. VSG has changed my life in so many ways. But there are negative things or challenges I rarely see people talking about. I'm listing mine in hopes others won't feel alone, please add yours if you'd like. I'm thinking this might be a bit therapeutic as I don't talk about this in real life as no one really understands unless you've been through it. Things that have become very real for me: *Body Dysmorphia is real. I currently wear a dress/jean size 6 and tops in XS/S. I know those sizes are amazing and I never would have imagined that's where I would end up. BUT...when I look in the mi…

Please help— has anyone found out they are allergic to the staples used in gastric sleeve? I am one week post op and the rash/ hives on my stomach are crazy itchy and red. And getting worse. I’m off all meds as of three days ago. Benadryl and topical creams aren’t helping much. Any fellow rash peeps? What was your experience?

Okay, today's the day and I can't believe it! I've taken my preop anti nausea medication and had my presurgery shake and will be heading to the surgery center here in about 25 minutes. I'm nervous but not as worried as I was last night. Prayed and cried a lot last night but feeling much more at ease now. Did write myself a letter to reference going forward and one for my mom in the super rare event I don't make it home(it puts me more at eas. I don't think I'd be as ready without these forums, so thank you everyone for your input and guidance! It is my turn to hit the loser's bench! Anyone else going in this morning?

I went to my post op two week check up today and was pleasantly surprised to see the Drs scale say I have officially lost 25 pounds since the day of surgery and that was fully clothes with my shoes on (I even had on a sweatshirt and jeans) !!! Had I had the opportunity I would have been in a hospital gown with my bumm hanging out for as dry of a weight as I could have come up upon but I was happy with 25 pounds in two weeks!!! I got the go ahead to start the mechanically soft diet and I can start my walking program. While they did my sleeve they had to fix a hernia and remove a few little unwanted polyps but nothing major, just enough to make me have to stay away f…

How was your Thanksgiving? Mine was quiet and low-key---just my 17-year-old son and I. Usually we gather with my two brothers and their families, but with the COVID-19 numbers going crazy high in Southeastern Virginia we decided to sit Family Thanksgiving 2020 out and wait until Christmas. I got a 14 pound turkey at Kroger for under $5.00 (great sale!) and cooked low-fat versions of the traditional side-dishes for my son. He has lost 15 pounds since I began my WLS journey. I'm proud he has been open to making changes. I was prepared to just have turkey and a little low-fat gravy.....but then I added 2 tablespoons each of mashed potatoes, dressing, and green …

Tried doing a protein shake, hasn't helped. And I'm feeling hangry and just want to eat [emoji15][emoji15][emoji15]. Has anyone else had this problem.? Please tell me it goes away. I've been doing good not really feeling hunger, but today is horrible !!! [emoji24][emoji24]

I am going to invest in a good scale that will not be used to make deer sausage! Anyone have any recommendations. I am liking the reviews on the Omron Scale and body composition monitor but all I have ever really used is the good old fashioned Walmart scale, I don't know if all the bells and whistles will be used or not. My hubby is set for surgery on the 28th and he and I are really trying our old college best to give this whole fitness and nutrition the best of us and I am not afraid of spending a little money on quality if it adds to the end benefit but if it is just going to sit in the closet in the box because us old farts have to have the kids come home to …

Hello, I’m completely new to this app and my surgery date is 12/15. Currently on the liquid diet. I’ve made my own black bean Soup, puréed and then passed through a sleeve, is this okay to consume right now? Also I love seltzer (even have a machine for it) and can’t have it anymore. Plain regular Water intake has been difficult. Any tips besides pouring drops in? Lastly, will I be able to drive myself back home after surgery? I’m spending the night at the hospital but the next day I should be ho to go home. Thanks in advance.

Oh boy it only took two weeks. I knew it was coming eventually but I thought it would be at least two months out. So here comes my dirty laundry and secrets: I have a serious problem with control. I like to be in control of everything in my life. When I am not in control of something I tend to control something else even more. So, when my eating addiction was out of control my OCD with my house was crazy. My junk drawers are alphabetized. I knew after surgery I would be able to get in control of my appetite and I would start finding routine in my eating and structure in exercise and so forth. This is a good thing.....but.....my hubby had a serious talk ( me an…

4 days post-op, I have no regrets but I do have questions... My surgeon, and his team made me feel comfortable as possible. I was provided all the resources/tools I needed for the pre-op and post-op stages. For the two-week pre-op, I lost 12 pounds. It was challenging but I did stick to the protein shakes and plenty of water. I just wish I would've drank more cold water at least two days before the surgery because I'm dying for a glass of ice water. On 11/30 I got sleeved.... When I woke up after surgery I had this need to urinate extremely bad and using that pan was not it! I had to go to the bathroom and my nurse was warm about it to say the least (LOL!!!). I also…

Cut it in half and over 45 minutes got it down, It was good but I realize now you can enjoy food or you can abuse it. Other half went to my lab who has worked out with my this whole journey .

Hey everyone. I’ve been on the diet for five days. It consists of a protein shake for breakfast, 3 oz lean protein and 1/2 C cottage cheese at lunch and dinner. I’m allowed one vegetable and fruit per day. No caffeine. The first three days were hell. Not because of the food restrictions but I think because caffeine restriction. On second and third days it took all my effort just to stay awake. On the fourth day the dr said I could have a small coffee each day for the remaining 7 days of the diet as long as I weaned myself off. Of course that helped. A lot. The next day, day five, I felt very alert. Enough so I had no coffee at all. Today, on day six, the low ene…

Hi all, Just wondered for how long do people generally keep losing weight for after surgery. I'm 18 months post sleeve and I barely lose anything each month now. Is this nora. In last 6 months I've lost just under a stone and feel I should be losing more than this. I can go 4 or 5 weeks and never lose a thing. I'm on permanent crutches or wheelchair so mobility is very limited but I try and move as much as I can each day. Any tips or advice please. X x

I am scheduled to be sleeved on December 18th. The last time I saw my surgeon was on November 2nd and he told me by the time I saw him on November 30th that I needed to lose 20 pounds and yesterday when I got on his scale I had gained 5 pounds. I had cleared all the sugar out of my house but my Calorie intake was way too much even though I was eating things that were better for me. My searching was going to cancel my surgery and I have a meltdown he told me I have to come to his office and weigh-in on the 17th in if I can lose 20 pounds he'll do my surgery if not he'll cancel it. I can't afford to screw this up my life is riding on this.

So I had my surgery on Tuesday. After vomiting blood the whole night, I was discharged the next day. I was given the same pain reliever I already take daily for my back but in liquid form (Vicodin). The pain for the next few days was pretty bad, but manageable. I also started having serious vaginal blood loss even though I had a monthly cycle before surgery. The pain has just gotten worse and I can hardly move now. My doctor have me a generic response of: “go to the emergency room for pain” (I guess I must have been blessed with really good doctors previously because they would address the problems over the phone) but I’m wondering, did anyone go through severe pain that …

  49. Hi all, Would love to get a rough idea of how people have done at seperate stages. Think % of excess weight is a good way to track as everyone's weights will be so different. Here in the UK they advise that Sleevers lose on average between 50-70% of their excess weight by 18 months. I've lost 35% in 1 month 1 day. Assume it'll slow very soon!
