I am a low BMI gastric sleeve patient. My BMI was a little over 35 when I got sleeved. I was approved by my insurance because I have kidney disease and getting HBP or diabetes would be detrimental to my health. I'm getting very frustrated with people not knowing my history and saying I didn't need the surgery. Although a 35 was the highest my BMI has ever been, it's more about the constant struggle with loosing weight and trying to stay healthy.

I used to have curves in all the "right" places before I started teaching. I gained about 10 pounds each year and have been teaching for 9 years now! I am really excited to lose weight. My breast are HUGE now and I hate them! BUT I really don't want to lose all my curves. Anyone tips/tricks/ or stories anyone wants to share?

Hi, I’m in the process of getting surgery work up for a sleeve and I have to confirm by next week if I’m going ahead. I’ve been researching the operation and I am overwhelmed with varying opinions, and having difficulty making up my mind. Clearly, I love food, it’s a passion, but my size has always made me unhappy and limited my life. I cannot decide if having surgery will transform my life in a positive way or if I will mourn the loss of food. Can any post op people give me their overall opinion of surgery, if it was the right decision, to help me guide my decision making process? ?

I know that walking is important and something I will need to do moving forward forever. I enjoy going to the gym. I went for 2 years recently pretty religously. My wife finally told me she wished I would quit going because I was only getting bigger. She was right, I was gaining muscle and not losing much fat because I hated the cardio...It was just boring to me. I wanted to pump some iron baby! I was bench pressing 225 quite a few times and some lighter sets as well which I felt pretty good about at 61-62 years old at the time. I also was pressing well over 500 pounds on the seated incline leg press. 3 sets of 25. I realize after surgery I cant just jump back in and star…

Well, today I am 3 months post surgery. Thought I would share a few thoughts. I'm down 74 lbs as of this morning from my first day of preop diet on 11/2. 294 to 220. Holy cats, 40 lbs to go. Down to 38 jeans from 44s. Heading to 36s soon. Headgames are real!!! Head hunger, stalls, worries, etc. All of it. It takes time to wrap your head around all of it. My pecker is back! Nuff said. I can tie my shoes without cramping up. Lol. I can bend over, I can get off the couch. Etc. I'm able to build muscle at 52. This is a surprise. I thought it would be harder to regain what I'd lost, but so far I have been successful in getting my arms back. …

Well I am on day one of my pre op liquid diet for the second time. I was about half way thru back in December when I got the call that postponed surgery due to Covid spike. I just made a Premeir Protein shake (added ice in the bullet) with scoop of whey protein and a half tub of Triple Zero Yogart. I think this puppy has about 57 grams of protein to my estimate. 1 week from today I will be under the knife. I am ready to get this show on the road!!

Hi guys, okay so today the weirdest thing happened. I’m almost 6 wks out and today I went to chipotle and got cauliflower rice and it was sooo good. On the second bite I started vomiting from the smell. Has this happened to anyone and is this something I’ll have to get use to? I haven’t been nauseous since after recovery. Please give me some insight.

I am so happy today! 50 pounds gone! It has taken 3.5 months, which is longer than I thought it would take, but it's 50 pounds gone which is more than I've ever lost before regaining! I lost 25 pounds the first month and have been averaging 10 pounds for the last 2.5. I had to resign myself to NOT getting to goal by the holidays, but I have felt amazing, never deprived and my skin and hair look great! Slow and steady wins the race! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

My surgery was canceled due to weather ?. I’m trying to get it rescheduled for March 8th but their office has been closed since they cancelled my surgery 2 weeks ago so I can’t reschedule it or ask them any questions. If I can’t get it done March 8th I’ll have to wait until July because of work and I’d hate to have to do that. I’m scared that’s what’ll happen though because that’s barely 2 weeks away from now and I won’t have time to finish the preop diet if they require the 2 week liquid diet like many I’ve seen on here. Anyway... how far in advance did you schedule your surgery? How long did you have to do the preop diet? Thanks!

Hi fellow sleevers I am 18 months post sleeve and unfortunately my gallbladder has decided she wants out. I’m having severe attacks and I’m now waiting the US results but the doctor says everything points out to be stones and possibly surgery. I’m a bit scared of the pain, as my sleeve recovery was so painful. And of the tolerance of foods after as I haven't had any issues post my sleeve until now. Also, I have been stalling since the pandemic started, so my questions to you are: 1. How was your experience? Was the pain worse than the surgery? 2. Did you lose more weight after? 3. Has it changed your tolerance to new foods? T…

I am 3.5 weeks out from a band to sleeve revision, and things have been going pretty typically up until now. I had GERD prior to this surgery, a fact I made abundantly clear to my surgeon, but at no time was I apprised that the sleeve would make it worse. And by worse, I mean that I cannot eat much of anything without it causing vomiting, and when my stomach is empty, it burns severely. I’m afraid I’ll be forced to eat Cream of Chicken soup for the rest of my life, because it’s all I can tolerate. The vitamins, proteins...everything that’s supposed to help with energy, is intolerable. I’m miserable, because I’m in agony, so not only does it seem that I have changed my e…

Male, 29, 6'2, HW 338, PSW 320, CW 314 I just had gastric sleeve surgery on the 11th, stayed over night and was out of the hospital within 24 hrs or so. I was able to tolerate water the first night and full liquids the next day. My PA and surgeon said my surgery was great, took 25 minutes and that I only needed 4 incisions (some need 5?) because my liver was tiny. I did 3 separate laps around the ward that first night and walked around the room a couple times as well. The first night home I probably managed 1.5 protein shakes, 2nd day I had 2 and a protein waters, today I had 75 grams protein and tons of water so not seeing any issues there. Can anyone offer any insight o…

The transplnted follicles fall out after a few weeks but start growing in at 3-4 months. The results are amazing at 9-12 months. I want to wait long enough that the hair surgery was is is not an issue due to dificiencies. My original date got postponed because of rise in Covid on 12/16 and hair surgery wa s scheduled for 2/16/21. I believe I will schedule 3-4 months out. How long did you guys have problems with your hair after surgery?

Hello all! Just wanting to check in with all of my October 2020 folks to see how everyone is doing. I just started my regular foods phase at the beginning of February and can tolerate pretty much anything. My biggest struggle right now is feeling hungry all of the time. It’s something that I’ve unfortunately had a hard time with since about 1month out. As far as weight loss goes, I seem to lose slowly and in waves. Lose, stall, lose, stall, rinse and repeat. I have to say that even though this journey has been hard work, I’m feeling good, down 4 sizes, increased mobility, and increased energy! Here are my numbers: Age: 48 HW-299 (April, 2020) …

I had my sleeve done Feb 10th so I'm 4 does po. But I am feeling so down. I have such bad shooting pains in my stomach that comes, and goes. Trying to get down protein drinks is the worst. My stomach cramps up so bad. I am feeling so discouraged and regretting getting this done. I have tried premier protein water thinking it would go down easier since it's clear, but the taste makes me sick. I'm trying to get my 64oz of water a day in but that's a far stretch. Has anyone had this issue? Does it get better because right not it's making me depressed. I just want to be able to drink something without hurting. I take sips so it's not like I'm gulping it fast. I just need some…

Hello everyone! I'm new to this site. I had Gastric sleeve done on 12/28/2020. Today marks 4 weeks post op and I feel pretty good. My only concern right now is my first stall. I lost 17 lbs for the first week after surgery. Then I hit a stall. Which was fine my doctor warned me about it and he said it would last a little bit. So I expected 1 week to 2 weeks max. But today I hit the 3 week mark on this stall and my weight keeps fluctuating 3 lbs. I gain 3lbs and I lose 3 lbs. I'm very frustrated. I've gotten between 70 and 80 oz of water each day and protein is about the same. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Has anyone experienced this much time between stalls? I see m…

My surgery is coming up on 2/23. I have really been looking forward to it. The more I read it seems many people have major issues with gas, constipation, nausea, pain ,etc... There has to be some ways to combat some of these things. I sometimes get gas up in my chest and can eat a couple of antacids and that takes cre of it in minutes. Constipation I would guess is lack of fiber. What are you taking for that? Metamucil maybe? Nausea, I am guessing the doc will prescribe something for that.Pain, I am sure I will get some pain pills. What else do I have to look forward to? I appreciate everyone's insight and realize each journey is a little different. I am also having a lap…

My surgery was 1/28. My recovery was AWFUL. I threw up basically non stop for about 36 hours. Dry heaving after that procedure is so much fun. None of the nausea meds worked. I had to beg them to knock me out so I could sleep. So I got off to a really bad start. Now I’m more than 2 weeks out. I have not been able to tolerate much in the way of anything. I can only sip an ounce of a protein shake at a time and then I have to lay down until my stomach stops hurting. It’s essentially easier for me to just not eat. Best guess, I’m getting maybe 300 calories a day. Nowhere near 64oz of water or 60g of protein. I’m closer to 36oz of water and maybe 20g of protein. I’m…

Hello. I’m new on here and just over 4 weeks post op. My recovery so far has been ok, however I’m struggling massively with fatigue. I’m unable to return to work because of it. I’m doing everything correctly, taking my medications, trying to get protein and fluids in. My bloods have been checked and all normal. It’s very debilitating and getting me down as prior to surgery I was very active. Anyone else experienced the same? How long does this usually last? Thanks
