Hi all! So I just came back from vacation where I ate solids, drank alcohol and had edibles! Good times! But don't worry, I am back to my dull healthy life I did read some post about drinking after the sleeve and was super cautious about it. However, for me, I was able to handle my alcohol just fine. For reference, Im a whiskey girl and I drank it straight to avoid soda and sugar. I also had some vodka spiked mimosa's. Now, I'm not much of a smoker and prefer alcohol to marijuana but every once in a while I'll have an edible. This time, I had half a gummy worm and experienced a full high! After laughing uncontrollably for 2 hours I knocked out for 4 hours…

My surgery was 2/23/21. I’m struggling. Food smells make me sick. I’m having trouble eating anything. anyone else have this issue?

  4. Started by ZZinBC,

Hi! I had surgery on March 10th 2021. From 3 week Pre-op until now, I have lost a total of 19 pounds (nearing 6 weeks total time). I have not lost any weight in the last 10 days. I’ve spent a good period of time assuring myself by reading the great feedback on others posts about similar questions but, most suggest the 3 week stall and I have heard that the stall can happen 2-4 weeks post surgery. Has anyone ever heard of a stall basically right out of the gate? I am tracking - I am at 600 calories/day and 60g of protein. My Pre-Op Diet Start Weight was 257 and I am currently 238. Thanks in advance for the advice and feedback, a little challenging to not…

  5. I had the sleeve done on 2/4. Lost weight for 3 weeks, stalled for 5 and now just recently started losing weight again. The problem I have is that it seems slower than before. Since March 27th I have maybe lost 5 or 6 lbs. I have 2 different scales, one is a body composition scale that I picked up to see if I could get some kind of baseline on my stats. Anyway 5 lbs in 10 days doesn't seem like much compared to how fast it went in the first 3 weeks. Just wondering if that is normal expected weight loss now? By my calculations I should be burning about a net of 2000 calories per day, which seems like I should be losing more weight than I am. Maybe I'm just impati…

I asked about multi choices and got such a wide variety of answers that I am still not sure which may be best for me. Is anyone trying or using the multi patches?

Just got the call from the hospital to be there at 5am! First case of the day!!! I’m am so anxious and absolutely full of nerves, but am also excited and happy to just do the damn thing already and get it over with! Fingers crossed for a quick and successful surgery with no problems and minimal pain! Let’s do this!

Does anyone else feel uncomfortable when someone talks about how much weight they've lost? Or am I the only weird one? ?I haven't had surgery yet (4/8 is the day, yay!) but I've lost about 35lbs through the pre-op process. I personally don't like people focusing on my size even if it's to compliment me on losing weight. I especially hate when they say something about how I'm looking good now. It makes me feel like I wasn't good enough before? Did they think I looked terrible before? I mean, I'm still the same person and I feel a persons worth is tied up in so much more than their physical appearance. And while I am having the surgery to lose weight I'm doing it for myself…

I'm 4 months post op Gastric Sleeve. I'v been taking my vitamins & protein supplements religiously but still experiencing hair loss. Any suggestions on how to stop the shedding?

  12. Hi guys, one week out from lap band revision to sleeve. I'm doing ok pain-wise, but I'm just so weak and even getting up off the couch to walk across the room makes me feel like I've sprinted. I was checked by my doctor and spent the day in the ER doing cat scans for blood clots, EKG, blood work. Everything was normal. But I am definitely not. I'm fine if I'm sitting on the couch, but moving around, even to prepare the small meals has got me exhausted. Is this normal? Is it due to taking in so few calories? What am I doing wrong? Yes, I'm taking my vitamins and meeting protein and mostly meeting liquids goals. I'm on Lovenox as a preventative for blood clots.

  13. Started by Bella2021,

So I’m a week post -op and on the purée stage. I find that I’m a lot more hungry on this stage more than anything else. While I was on liquid , I didn’t feel the need to eat. Now that I can, it’s seems like yes I do get the restriction but I still feel hungry. I rather be on real food stage at this point where I can eat a more balanced meal to fill me up. Anyone else experienced this ?

  14. I'm supposed to hit my protein goals of 60-80 gm and liquids goal of 64 oz. It feels like an impossible feat at this point. How fast should newbies eat/drink? (Obviously not making it uncomfortable.) And how fast can people a year out eat? What do you do to pace yourself? Thanks in advance for answering.

  15. Just got diagnosed with AFIB and the doctors are pushing Warfarin at the VA where I get treatment. Anybody out there that's been sleeved been put on Warfarin and what side effects did you have and what initial dosage? Any other meds available that people are on? I'm a little worried on any of the meds and I've got zero symptoms--no pains, nothing...

Hello, I'm about 3 weeks post-op, last week did great with little pain but today I woke up with a super sharp stinging pain from one of my incisions. Really hate to end up at the er during Easter or call my doctor if it's nothing. Has anyone else gone through this? It only hurts when I'm up and walking but not as much when laying down.

  17. I need tips on what can I eat starting my regular diet stage I guess that mean I can eat solid food I use love eating grill cheese but now I don’t know how eat it meaning what’s good healthy bread buy or something I’m excited and nervous

  18. So from 1day post op I could not tolerate any of the protein drinks. They suggested using protein powder and that was the same. So I had to try to get protein in my own way. I started adding lentils and chickpeas to my soups etc. Then I wanted to leave the soup more puréed then liquid and progresses from there. I’m now 3 weeks post op and all I want is a salad ( Ha ) I am now eating soft foods with some lumps but I feel good and have had no problems. I just hope I am not over eating because I haven’t felt full really or had any problems. I can manage 1/2 a cup to 1 cup per meal ? Anyone else have this problem ?

Hey everyone, I’m kinda starting to freak out. I had my surgery on 2/10, 7 weeks ago. I have not lost weight in 4 weeks. I’m down about 25 pounds since surgery but the scale isn’t budging really. I’ll go up a pound and down a pound but outside of that, nothing. 4 weeks to me is a long time for such a stall this early. I’m tracking everything I eat. Everything. Staying under 1000 calories. Could be better with protein and water, but making good food choices. I work out every day via cardio. I have lost inches but that’s kinda stalled too. I’m worried this isn’t going to work for me. Like what the heck. I’m working so hard. I don’t get it. Help! Thanks…

  21. I really do not want to tell people I am having bariatric surgery. To me, it is a personal decision and I do not want others to know in such depth. Obviously I will be taking time off for work and losing weight fast. What should I tell people who ask?

Anyone have a tummy tuck in the Miami area? Looks like that is best prices for tummy tuck. I would like to hear if you had yours done there and who performed the procedure. Were you happy with outcome? Surgeon and clinic? I am looking for a good outcome without paying crazy high prices. I am not going out of the country for this. Thanks

What did you put on your incision areas to reduce scarring? My surgery is coming up on the 23rd after being postponed for 3 months due to Covid rise before Christmas. Ready to roll and not be fat or as fat this summer!

  24. Hi, I'm a newbie. An impatient newbie at that. I have been on Adipex for 6 years. It worked initially but after my brothers death, I became an emotional eater. I picked up the 52 lbs I lost just doing diet, exercise, and adipex. My back hurts so bad and I can't afford to just lay in bed all day. I have to take care of my parents and myself. I'm a 2 time cancer survivor so I have a little bit on my plate. I'm just curious how long did you have to wait, before being scheduled for surgery. I just need a scope and to talk to the psychiatrist. I hope that being on the Adipex will count for something.

I had my surgery on 2/23/21. I have a really physical job so i am trying to take advantage of this to maximize my weight loss. I feel like I am missing something in my diet. When i go to work I take a water, vitamin water and a Gatorade zero. For dinner, i will take maybe 2/3 bites of salmon or some soups i have in the closet. so far i have had more misses than hits. I feel like im not getting out of the 340s as quickly as I thought because of what i am consuming throughout the day. Do we have like a minimum calorie intake we need to meet or A certain amount of proteins i need per day? I just want to make sure I make the most of this. I was 372 the day of my surgery…

Having duodenal switch surgery with the best decision I've ever made. I am almost 2 years posted and have lost 238 lb so far. I still have about 60 lb to go but so far so good. I highly recommend the surgery to anyone considering it.

  27. Got off the phone with the nurse who wants me to take 1000mg Tylenol, Gabapentin, and Celebrex on the way to the hospital the morning of plus the night before. Is this normal? I have never taken Gabapentin and I known it is for nerve pain. I am very sensitive to medications and I am a little worried. I was too excited when I was getting the information to ask questions

I’m 4 weeks post op VSG however o don’t feel I’m losing enough weight since the preop diet and surgery I have lost c. 25lbs. I know 25 is a lot but considering I’m following all the rules, no cheating, no pop, bread, potatoes, sugar, etc. shouldn’t it be more substantial?

Hello everyone! So just to give details, I had surgery 5/29/18 and lost 95lbs originally post surgery. However since, I gained back 35lbs and have been depressed about it. I’ve lost the 35lbs then gained it back (and the cycle repeats). I’ve tried Keto, Vegetarian, Whole30, the works! And it seemed as if my stomach stretched out and I was back to eating almost all the way normal. This time around though, I figured I would go back to what I learned pre-op and make the lifestyle changes I made 2 years ago to lose the weight. I restarted about two weeks ago, eating my food slowly, listening to when I was actually hungry, taking my supplements, drinking my water, ea…

  30. Need tips and advice for first week post op

  31. Over the past few days I've been really emotional. I feel like I'm letting go of lots of emotional weight I've been carrying. My procedure is just a few days out. I'm a little nervous, but the emotions don't seem to be about fear. It's a deeper purging. Anybody else experience this or something similar? If so, what do you think was happening? When did it pass?

Just got my date 12/3. A little sad to be on a preop diet for Thanksgiving but we gotta do what we gotta do.

  34. I am in purée/ soft food stage (sorta in between) and I noticed a little constipation the other day and dr office said to take fiber so I did all day yesterday but then I didn’t go at all. After surgery they said if you didn’t go for two days it was the start of a big deal is this the same now? Should I just take the milk of magnesia after two days like right afterwards. Is getting enough fiber going to be a lifelong challenge?

  35. Started by Jennie4315,

So I had surgery for the sleeve on 3/31. I guess in my head I didn’t feel like I would be in that much pain after but I was. The gas pains hurt so bad. It’s now the next day and they have me drinking water mixed with apple juice. I have to stay 2 days because I had my goal bladder out also. Even through the pain I would do it all again.

  36. Hi everyone! This is my first post, I am having the sleeve surgery on September 20th and I am really curious about how much your tastes really change, if at all like I’ve been told. Did anybody have any changes or like things now that they didn’t before or vise versa?

Im just curious ive heard other people say that they take the pediatric Multivitamins like the "Flintstones" chewable ones. Any Thoughts?? Because honestly i cant afford all these things that are "required" Post and Pre Op so if theirs a way i can save i need it i literally have like a ridiculous amount of those vitamins lol

I am new to this site. I just received my first order and I was under the impression that everything was going to be "carb friendly", which in fact, most everything has excessive carbs that I could have purchased at any local store. Any recommendations on products that are offered on here that are no high in carbs? I had the gastric sleeve in December of 2017. I have gained 25 pounds back. I don't really get hungry, but my metabolism drops, which in turn, causes me to eat impulsively, which of course, created the weight gain. Trying to figure out a "diet" that will help me meet all my needs and goals. Any advice?

Please forgive what may seem like my many posts... I am a week post-surgery today and I am having a lot of difficulty with this liquid only diet. My hunger and/or cravings were non-existant for the first 2-3 days. But now? I am having some serious issues. It's not hunger either. It's simply wanting something to quench this crave. My diet has consisted of 2oz of protein shake for breakfast, lunch, dinner; water and/or Crystal Light; chicken (bone) broth; and sugar free ice pops. I feel like I'm going to lose my mind. I need some prayers...positive words...advice....whatever you can throw at me.

Hi friends, Looking for some encouragement. It’s my first day home after surgery, I was in quarantine for a few days. I used to always have a routine of eating a big breakfast before I took my son to school and no after surgery I can’t and I’m a little bummed out. I know it’s all going to be worth it, but right now I’m struggling to see it. Hopefully it gets better Mark

  44. Started by Nanagrrl3,

Today is my fourth week out and my NUT says that I am cleared for a regular diet as long as I can tolerate soft foods which I can. I told her that I ate a piece of baked chicken with the skin on it by mistake, as She says to stay away from the skin because it’s high in fat and calories. But is there any chance that I would get a leak because I ate the skin? I know I should probably ask my surgeon but I’d just like some input from anyone, because I’ve read that someone ate an apple and granola at three weeks out and it gave them a leak.

I am mentally ready to start exercising but just gassed right now. My surgeon said I could get back in the gym at 5 weeks which will be this week, I thought 5 weeks would never get here. Now I am not sure how much I will actually be able to do as I have no energy.Getting to the gym several times a week is critical in my mind to be as successful as I can be. Maybe a result of low caloric intake? I am not sure if there is a supplement I am not getting or that I need to add. I am taking B12. I called the dietitian and left a message. Any suggestions??

I’d like to find out how others drink around mealtime. I’m told that I can drink up until I start eating & not to drink again until 30 minutes after my last bite. I know this advice varies from doctor to doctor, with some even saying nothing an hour before or after. Has anyone that does it the way I was told ever had trouble with it, such as stomach stretching or food washing away to quickly? Thanks & happy Saturday to you all!

I am going back and forth because I used to work out and eat right. I lost my way and now am a mess. Really looking to hearing about the experience from start to where you are now specific to the sleeve. Did you have a hard time getting back up and moving after surgery. Were you having vomiting issues, any leaks or a need to have additional surgeries? My doctor wants me on a pure liquid diet for 5 weeks. Nothing but protein drinks and pureed soups at most. That part I can deal with I am just worried about some of the negatives I have read about on other sites such as chronic nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. Any one had to deal with Gallstone issues following surgeries?…
