First of all, they are nasty!!! Secondly, i was sleeved on 1/29, and have had zero issues with being sick or vomitting or even gagging. Today I took the dreaded chewable multivitamin and immediately started gagging with dry heaves and spit. Anyone else have this issue? Anyone else have a better idea than these chewables that taste so horrible.

I wanted to introduce my self since I view these forums daily and they have been more than helpful in my young journey so far. A little about my path, at my highest weight late 2019 I found out my scale does not go past 340. Of course, I have yo-yo dieted trying everything from Weight Watchers to Keto but as usual the weight loss happened then came back plus some. I started this latest adventure in September 2020 weighing in at 314 at the start of my required 6-month medically monitored diet and classes. Once completed I was down to 304 at the start of my pre-op liquid diet in preparation for a February 1st, 2021 VSG. On surgery day I was down another 10 pounds to 294. Th…

So I am 52 years old and wanted to see if other are experiencing the same issues I am. In all I am doing great but I had COVID just prior to surgery and was cleared 2 weeks prior. I weighed 305 Lbs when I started this journey and 28 days later I have lost 59 Lbs I believe as of today (03/08/21). My Doctor says that I am in the upper 1% of weight loss for his practice which makes my wife proud. After surgery I found that the rumored stuff was true. I lost my hunger sensation. I had no urge to eat AT ALL. I was weak and only wanted to sleep. I needed Meds for pain but it was not overboard. In about a week I was fully up and a little slow. My loving wife who doe…

Did anyone not change their diet much pre OP? I've cut out sodas for a month now, but not a whole lot of anything else. Just wondering how hard it is. Surgery date is 1 month 3 days away.

I’m scheduled for a gastric sleeve in a few weeks because I’ve been heavy all my life and can’t lose weight any other way. I found some of my old doctors notes last night and noticed that I started the year 2016 at 190lbs and ended at 250lbs... that was also the year I was in an abusive relationship. The only weight I’ve gained since then is 20lbs of “and then some” weight from failed diets. I had never noticed before that most of my weight gain occurred during that period of my life. During that year I knew I was gaining a little weight but didn’t think it was that much and never thought I used food to cope or anything but I obviously did. I don’t know if it’s a good th…

I’m almost 8 months post op. I’ve lost 120 pounds so far. Since December, ive started to slow down drastically. I’m currently at a stall & I’m SO incredibly frustrated. I’m working out, I get my protein, I track my foods, I get my water in. What did you do? How did you break your stall?

Hi all, Thanks for having me in this forum. I'm Frankie from Perth and I had my gastric sleeve 2 days ago. Everything seems to be fine except that I can't swallow anything. Except the smallest sip of water and that's concerning as they dont want to discharge me until I'm able to drink 1.5 litres of water. The problem is that I feel the water stuck in my chest. I have mentioned to the Doc and he said I should try smaller sups which I'm doing. Anyone walked this path already? Thanks very much.

  12. Hi, I had my sleeve 20 days ago and have excessive skin dryness. All over my body, including legs, arms, hands, chest, face. Lotion and aquaphor do not help. Just seems to get worse. Does anyone else have this after a sleeve?

Hello Everyone. I am new to this chat room. My surgery is March 9th and I am starting to feel super anxious. I am also on the two day “liquid” diet so there is that. I am trying to do everything I can think of to distract myself from Tuesday for now. Anyone else super close and anxious.

  15. Started by ShoppGirl,

I am a little nervous about the risk of Covid at the hospital. They are a non Covid hospital so if someone comes up with a positive test they ship them to another location but that doesn’t eliminate the risk entirely. I am guessing I won’t wake up every time someone comes into my room to put on a mask though and can’t imagine it’s too comfortable to sleep with one on. Anyone else have similar fears or any tips or how to deal with this.

One of the reasons I’ve hesitated to start the process of getting the surgery is that quite a few people I’ve seen get it seem to regain weight back. Like half of it. Why do we think that is? I know I can be committed to a complete lifestyle change but of course I’m human. Do some of the effects that help with weight loss in the beginning actually stop working? Can your metabolism slow down? Does your stomach start to stretch out again? I’m 43 so menopause is looming....lol Help me feel that this will be a good decision. I know that it is seen as a tool and that you still must work hard. But does that get to the point of things being as hard as they were befor…

  19. Hi everyone, I'm about 7 weeks post-sleeve. Dietician told me to avoid drinking any liquids within 30 mins of eating solids (on soft diet). I thought that was temporary while the stomach is healing (currently, I can't keep anything down if I have a single sip of liquid around time of soft food). But she recently clarified that this applies for life, as in I will never be able to have a sip of water or anything in the middle of or before/ after a meal, no matter how thirsty I am and no matter how far from my surgery. She said it's because "there is not enough space in the stomach for both". BUT I don't understand the reason why the stomach won't tolerate thi…

I'm pre-op and still not 100% about actually getting the surgery. This post might be a mess. 1.My dietician is saying because I am young (26) I should get the sleeve because there are less complications but I already have heartburn. I did a barium swallow and she says I don't have reflux but do have a small hernia. 2.Another is not eating and drinking at the same time is SO difficult. And I'm worried that I'll regain from it being able to do it. 3.My SO isn't too thrilled about it because he's worried about complications and that I won't be good at post-op lifestyle changes and that's a little discouraging. I'm hardly taking his opinion into consideration though. 4.And l…

I am struggling to eat healthy. Even scrambled egg seems to get stuck. I don’t seem to be able to detect my level of fullness until it’s too late and I have the stuck feeling with copious amounts of saliva. How have you successfully transitioned from liquids to solids? Any tips would be appreciated.

So I had my consultation with my surgeon on Monday. Based on my own research I had thought gastric bypass was the best option for me. However my surgeon said that at my weight (I'm currently 265lbs at 5'3.5") and given my heartburn/acid reflux isn't bad enough to warrant daily medication, he feels like a sleeve would be the better option because there is less risk involved and the weight loss expected would be about the same. I now have an endoscopy scheduled for later this month so they can see if there is a hernia in play, and check damage/issues with my esophagus to confirm my issues aren't severe. This was thanks to the nurse, who was sort of advocating on my behalf f…

I hate to even tell this but for folks thinking about backing out, I hate the pre op diet,Is it worth it? Will it work ...etc. I need to tell my story of the last 7 days. Surgery day(2/23) to me was like a blur. The worst part of the day and night was the gas and thirst.TAKE DRY MOUTH SPRAY TO THE HOSPITAL, THIS WAS A GAMECHANGER FOR ME!! I was able to burp the gas out almost 100% before I was discharged. I have not had ny trouble getting my liquids down and really just not had any pain to speak of. I didn't have a BM until a short while ago and that was painful. Like passing a couple of big rocks OUCH!! I took stool softenors, maybe I should have taken more. I went to th…

Unlike many others that I have seen on this forum, my doctor is not requiring that I do a liquid diet pre-surgery. I don't have any questions or concerns for this doctor, as he is pretty renowned in New Jersey and Connecticut. But has anyone else had this experience? I still plan on taking it easy, beginning two weeks prior. My liquid diet will not begin until post-op.

I went to see my surgeon for my two year post-op and he was concerned I had gained about 10 lbs since my last visit. My nutritionist put me back on a 800-1,000 calorie diet a day diet. During quarantine, I have really gotten lax on my eating. I honestly forget what 800 calories a day looks like. Do you guys have ideas for 800 a day meals? I am sort of back in the habit in the last week, but it is tough. It is especially tough going from eating carbs/takeout/etc. What are your ideas for low carb/low cal meals? Thanks in advance!

Hi. I'm new & my surgery is Monday, 3/1, at 1p.m. I have been pending surgery since my first date (12/22) was cancelled due to COVID. During this time, I started & stopped the pre-op diet twice. This last time, I had 11 days' notice and I have fairly compliant but not 100%. I had some food funeral moments & then would resume. I've lost about 10lbs on it. I'm scared that maybe I messed up my chance & I'll get in the OR and the surgeon will somehow see that I cheated & be like, "NOPE." Can anyone speak to this happening or not? Thanks ?

I’ve noticed sex has been hurting a little each time and I’m unsure if it’s because I’ve lost so much weight there’s no more meat there to excuse me but there’s no more meat there to protect me when it gets intense...I’ve also haven’t gotten much of a sex drive back...will it ever come back?

I know its nuts to complain about having an easy recovery but I'm about 3 weeks out and I'm starting to feel like my normal self. I can tolerate a lot of different foods (although it still takes a while to chew it all up to mush). I can chug my water, take my pills and vitamins without any issue. I'm scared that I'm going to just go back to my normal self. Everyday I feel like I can eat a little more. I am tracking everything with the bariastic app and haven't eaten more than 500-600 cals a day and I am hitting my protein goals. But I already hit a stall as soon as I went off liquids. I lost 22 lbs from feb 2 until last Saturday and then nothing since. Am I ju…
