Anyone have some words of encouragement? I’m scheduled the 19th of February. I had the lapband in for almost 10 years and it was removed in October 2019. Anyone that’s had it done of what to expect more than what the doctors tell you? I’m so scared. I’m so scared I’ll fail. Or I’m making the wrong choice but I know I need to do this. I did really well with the lapband so the doctors are confident I’ll be fine with the sleeve. The fact that it’s permanent scares me.

I learned in a support class just yesterday that it is VERY Important that you do not beat yourself up over failures. It of the utmost importance that you BELIEVE in yourself that you will succeed. I have faith in you and you should have faith in yourself.

Hi! Feb 4 for me. I have a pre-op appts with the surgeon and anesthesiologist 1/22. So excited! My surgery was originally scheduled for Dec 17, but cancelled due to covid.

How did your pre-op appointments go, @NiceAnkles?

Hi, I’m also from MA. I have an appointment with my surgeon on the 26 to schedule the surgery date. I was told today that I may have to wait until March due to the Covid restrictions on elective surgeries here in MA. I’m little worried about the insurance (Tuft unify) because I’m just on the 40 BMI although I do have Diabetes. Good luck to everyone!

I had my pre-op class yesterday. Have my pre-op blood work and meeting with my surgeon Monday. Starting liquids only tomorrow. Very excited for this new chapter in my life but also very nervous. they talked about nausea in my class and that is what I am most nervous about. I hate to throw up - I have only done it 4 times in my whole life!! They said that they will be able to help if I am experience any nausea. Anyone have any info on this?

4 weeks to go. Nerves are really kicking in!

Five days into the liquid diet and the mind games are insane. My poor family.

Tomorrow (Monday) I'm meeting with anesthesia, getting blood drawn (again), and doing the big meeting with the team and finally meeting my surgeon in person. OF COURSE we're supposed to get our most significant snowstorm of the year tomorrow, too. Fingers crossed that the roads are decent.

Nine days until surgery. NINE. MORE. DAYS.

I just had the ESG surgery on Jan 21, today is day 3 post op and doing well. What I wasn't aware of is the lack of wanting sweets so soon. My sugar free protein water, popsicle and jello doesn't appeal to me now. I am loving my clear broth so much more. I am thankful that my plans to do and schedule went quicker than I thought..called Georgia Surgicare, referred to lung specialist due to asthma and cardiac specialist for hypertension, labs and from Dec 31, 2020 - date of surgery Jan 21st was smooth sailing. I had wanted help for years but husband was against it so I did everything until week before without his knowledge. My daughter drove me and stayed in hotel the 3 days before we went home. The worst part of the experience is the nausea and headaches from dehydration which stopped on Saturday. Gods best to all of you on your journey and those waiting to begin. I believe this will be one of the best decisions for me that I have made since accepting Jesus as my Lord and savior. By the way my husband flipped his prior thoughts and has been here to help if needed but I didn't need it so good job for me! My nurse Arianna and me ?

Really good but it was a lot of whirlwind action. I am concerned about one thing that could be a biggie. I had to have an ECG and they detected a sinus rhythm which made for an abnormal result. Am anxiously waiting for someone to let me know what this means and if I need a cardiology visit before surgery.

I only have to do two days of liquid only which I was really surprised about. And will need another COVID test done on next Sunday. So I’m nervous but moving ahead like everything will be ok.

How are you? Your surgery is coming up fast!

I had an EKG that showed and abnormal result, they sent me for a cardiac echo and everything was fine. The tech told me a lot of people who have and abnormal EKG it is because of loose leads. hope things work out well Good Luck.

how did all you pre-op appts go? I had mine today also. The all liquid diet is very weird - having to drink 8 oz shakes over 2 hour period, then 1 hour off, then repeat for a total of 4 a day. Hope the snow wasn't too bad

Wow, that is such a wierd diet. My surgery is this Friday, and I don't have to do any of that.

do you have any diet restrictions before surgery? I also have to take 7 pks of Miralax with water two days before surgery and again the day before.

My surgery is the 19th. I have to be on a 2 week low calorie diet which is basically a liquid diet of water, 3-4 protein drinks a day and 6 servings a day from a list of things like sugar free jello/pudding, 8oz of milk, unsweetened applesauce, a packet of oatmeal, etc. I worry it’ll be a struggle and be very rough. It’s amazing how every doctor/surgeon has different requirements. I was in a class in December where all 3 of us are going to have the gastric sleeve. 2 of us with the same surgeon were required to go on this diet 2 weeks prior to surgery and the 3rd person who had a different surgeon did not have to have any diet prior to surgery. Best of luck! My nerves are really kicking in! I had the lapband 10 years ago so this is not my first surgery.
