Has anyone put on weight? I’ve been put on steroids Ann’s was told I might put on weight. I’ve put on a stone. Also sometimes I have stomach ache every time I have my meals, I have a telephone appointment on May 5th so will mention it then. I cannot eat curry, chilli or any spicy food, where I used to love eating them. Does anyone also not feel like eating meals but can eat biscuits or chocolate through the day, my friend had the sleeve as well on the same week as me but different hospital. Any help would be gratefully received.

Hello All, I’m new to this app... kinda sucks because I wish I would have been known about it lol. Well to the point I’m 31 years of age 5’5 and weighing in at 360lbs. I’m scheduled for surgery 5/15 and I must admit the closer it gets I have moments where I’m battling myself with the question “ IS THIS REALLY WHAT YOU WANT TO DO ERIKKA?” ... my backstory is that I haven’t been overweight all my life , I grew up physically fit in basic school & all the way thru HS. The trouble came after HS and after my first child birth... my weight has been a struggle since then! I’ve went to the gym ( ONCE IM COMMITTED , IM COMMITTED ) I’ve lost a significant amount of weight ONLY …

Hello everyone, I had my gastric sleeve 4/8 stayed in the hospital until 4/13. I couldn't keep anything down. No pain just at all. I'm home now and feel like I've made the worst mistake of my life. I can get some sips of water down but, not alot. Today, I was finally was able to get my pills down for the first time and had 2x spoons of broth (the 1st food I've had since). I am so thirty but, I can only sip tiny amounts or else it all comes up. I knew going into this, that it wasn't going to be easy and the portions would be severely restricted. I just feel this is way more than I thought. I am so thirty all the time. I don't know how I'm going to get through this, it is c…

Didn’t think I’d ever get this far. My realistic goal was 240 (I’m 6’4” and always justified my fatness as “I’m just a big guy”) but when I hit that I thought 220 would be the bottom. Just hit 199 last week and I think I’m at goal now. Not sure how I can really get into maintenance, calculators are showing my calorie intake needed to maintain are waaaayyy above what I can take in. Short of switching to the m&ms and pop tart diet I think I’ll still keep losing which is now a little concerning. Went from barely squeezing into 44 pants to a loose 36, BMI is considered healthy. I feel great and I’m SOOOO close to being able to do literally the first pull-up of my life. Ne…

I’m 4 weeks post op today from the Sleeve and I’m down 62 lbs from the start of the two week pre op diet and 37 lbs from surgery day. it’s been 100% mental for me to this point. I’ve had virtually no pain, discomfort or uncomfortableness. But it’s been the hardest thing I’ve ever encountered mentally. I’ve learned a lot already on this forum and have really enjoyed the content and the people sharing their successes, failures and everything in between. Even though I have a very long way to go, I’m hopeful this was the right decision.

So I've never been diagnosed with GERD. but from what I've read online, and everything going on personally I suspect I may have it or a haitel hernia. I just recently moved and don't have a pcp nor do I have medical insurance so not sure what to do on finding one near me in Texas. I plan on going to tijuana for surgery. I have a few doctors that I'm interested in. My question is this.. with what I've experienced above potentially having Gerd. Same thing happens to me that those with Gerd have. But when I was 30 lbs lighter it never happened. I talked with my nutritionist and she said I should be fine if I get the sleeve BUT I don't want a revision and the rny scares the c…

Hello ! I am at 8 days before my surgery and I was wondering if any of you were asked to stop their multivitamins 1 week prior to surgery ? My surgeon did not say anything to me but instructed another patient (who is having surgery around the same time) to stop them... any thoughts ?

I've been keeping track of my weight loss and knew it would slow down once I started getting off the liquid phase and started introducing food back into my diet, but I've gained a pound now. I'm not eating unhealthy, aside from some frozen yogurt yesterday. Is it normal to see a pound or two weight gain as your eating food and becoming more active in the beginning? My surgery was 3/31/21 and I've lost 29 pounds, but up 1 pound this morning.

101 to be exact. Just unbelievable that I've lost that much in less than six months. Went from 44 jeans to 34. BMI started at 44 and I'm down to 30. I'm so thankful that this was available to me.

This recovery is a total mindfuck! All my ups and downs with food and weight have led me to question if I know what it means to be hungry and/or satiated. I was describing to my boyfriend that some foods make me feel so full after a few bites. It's like it's is piling up in my digestive tract about to overflow. But can I really be full with a few bites or am I just uncomfortable? Lately, half of the time I feel uncomfortably full and the other half, I feel unbarably empty. I'm either too full or have nothing in my belly! What happened to my in between stage? Does that emptiness mean I'm hungry? I also think I'm becoming more scared to eat because I dread the discomfort af…

Is this normal? I am 4 weeks and 2 days post op sleeve. I am consuming 60-80 gm protein and drinking 64 oz fluid every day. My calorie intake is 400-600 per day. I am supposed to be at least walking for exercise. I do about half the time but I am so weak. I get lightheaded and nauseous frequently. I am just too weak to do anything. When will this end? I want to feel alive again.

I had my surgery yesterday, 3/22 and I’m feeling great right now, the morning afterward. I am enjoying “taking it easy”. I arrived at hospital at 5:30 am, surgery was at 8:00 am. I was in the car heading home at 12:30. Such a smooth seamless event. I walked around the hospital floor, sipped 4 oz. of water, and breathed good enough into the breath blower thing, that I was allowed to come home. Pain has been minimal. The worst was the CO2 pumped into abdomen—it moved to my chest, but walking around the house yesterday, once an hour for 15 minutes helped. Today, I feel tenderness in my abdomen area and some slight discomfort around the punctures. There is a lot to coo…

Hi All, Just wanted to know what others have experienced. For some reason I am having daily anxiety. I absolutely can't stand it as it hits out of nowhere at all. I am only 17 days Post-Op, take my vitamins daily, and still taking my Metformin until I am blood tested again. I do not want to go on an anti anxiety medication. I had been on Lexapro for 4 years at which point I put on a lot of weight going from a size 4 to 1-2X. I lost all motivation on working out as well. I went off the Lexapro completely 2 months before surgery and started actually caring about myself which is why I decided to do this surgery so I could get my health back on track. Follo…

So at my (almost) 8 weeks they adjusted my plan and bumped my calories up by almost 200 a day... and my fat... and my carbs... and my calories, because I simply wasn’t getting much in, and had lost 80 lbs in 3 ish months and they said for me that was a bit faster than they wanted to see it come off especially since I still haven’t been cleared to exercise yet. Well that was about 11 days ago and I’ve been doing right by my new NUT plan and getting everything in... well I’ve GAINED almost 9 lbs since then. And it makes me sick. Honestly I’ve cried every time I’ve gotten on the scale so finally, I just put it in the cabinet and deleted the entries from my app. I keep t…

Hi All, I was wondering how long you were on strictly liquid? Also, from there how long were you on pureed food and what was it like? What did you puree? Right now I am on liquid but also puree low calorie or reduced calorie soup for at least another week. How long did the Puree to soft food transition take and was it comfortable, any issues and what foods in the soft stage? What did a day of meals look like? After the Soft foods how were you preparing your meals and what were you eating? Everything I have read eventually you can eat as you please without so much worry but wanted to get ideas of things to start considering in my near future. …

2 week post op and i am on puree and soft food. My GERD has been on 1000 and I cannot take it. Everything I eat flares it up. I cannot not do puree due to having issue with consistency of foods. I know a lot of you may think its all in my head, but the graininess of it I cannot tolerate. I was given a ricotta bake recipe which was amazing. I was wondering if anyone had any to share? Had my first post op appointment yesterday, down to 315 from 339 the day of surgery. I want to continue this downward trend without any problems, but eating has become a serious pain and I feel like I'm heading to a point with I might develop a fear of eating. So please pl…

I still have low energy and I’m a bit lazy (thanks depression!) but working out and exercising has ALWAYS made me nauseous before surgery. I tried googling to see what it might be but nothing has helped. Anyways I’m trying to tone my body now, I told myself that this week I was going to start working out but I give up in 1 minute because I’m so winded. Anyone have any tips about the nausea and motivation?

I am 9 days post op and have only lost 2 lb in the last week. I lost 20 lbs before surgery and am frustrated that I haven't seen hardly any loss this week. I am making sure that I get my protein in each day. What am I doing wrong? Or am I being unrealistic in my expectations? Going through all of this and not seeing the scale show much is frustrating.

Has anyone had drastic vision changes after VSG? I am not convinced it is related to WLS but I am just wondering if anyone else had any issues. I have had glasses since I was in high school and I will be 50 next month so I am getting older and vision changes are natural but I had my eyes checked this week because of some changes going on and holy smokes.......talk about changes. Hello Bariatropals, So, a week out of surgery and I am wondering what percentage of excess weight have you lost? By excess weight, I mean the extras kilos over your ideal heathy weight BMI. I was 128 kg/ 282 lbs pre op. (3 weeks prior to surgery) I was 118kg / 260 lbs, on surgery day (3 weeks after my initial consult) I am 114kg / 251lbs, 8 days post surgery. My ideal is 72kg/160lbs. I doubt I will get there because everything I read says 60% excess. Interested how you guys are going and if there is anyone with similiar stats. I am 170cm/5'7 tall.

I just need a super-quick vent. Nobody IRL knows about my surgery and I’m having a ROUGH day today. I’m 15 days post op, and while I had a remarkably easy time with surgery and in the first few days, I’ve been stalled since day 5. I even *gained* a lb or two. And while I know that isn’t “real” weight. It’s still incredibly disheartening. I’ve been so careful to follow my plan. I’m tracking everything, I’m making my water & protein goals, and I’ve been avoiding hitting the scales every day. Yesterday my hunger came roaring back to life. I feel like I’m working so hard, and getting nowhere. And there’s a mean voice in the back of my head saying “you spe…

Developed GERD right after surgery. It was mostly controlled by diet and omeprazole until December 2020 when I began having massive issues. My PCP switched me to pantoprazole/famitodine which helped but as I was still continuing to have issues I was referred to the gastroenterologist. Gastroenterologist decided I needed both a colonscopy and endoscopy. Yesterday was the earliest they could get me in for one. Colonscopy came back with mild diverticulitis and they are recommending I increase my fiber and fluid intake to manage it. Endoscopy came back with a lax LES and a 12 MM antral nodule that has to be biopsied. Hoping the nodule comes back as benign and…

I am five years out and did fine till “covid” year. I gained 5 lbs and it scared me...lost it by going back to no unhealthy carbs and increased exercise. I have lost the mindset I have had since then...since surgery really. I gained the 5 back plus 10 more in the past 13 months! I am ashamed and scared. I want my weight-loss mindset back..the one where I couldn’t imagine eating “white carbs” ever again. I am depressed.

I have surgery on September 16 and all has been fine. My main concern is after surgery. I'm not worried about the actual food aspect as much as I am my moods. I would love to hear from others with bipolar disorder how having the vsg has changed their moods. I have a time with my medication because my body is so sensitive I guess. So whenever I lose around 30 pounds they need to be adjusted. I am so scared to fall into a deep depression. I would really like to know how you have managed and felt or if you are pre-op and have the same concerns I would love to talk too!

After talking with my surgeon and PCP I’ve set what I think is my final goal weight. Originally we all decided 155, which was a bit over “normal” BMI. I’ve now dropped to 149 and am feeling really good. I’ve set my “final” goal at 143. This will put me at exactly half of my starting weight! Not sure why, but that feels like a significant number and feels like a perfect goal. I’m hoping to reach it by 8/13, which will be my 2 yr sleeve anniversary. Here’s to 6 more lbs to go and then starting the maintenance process!
