I started the gastric bypass process End of April after choking to death on a salad. Who wants to die from a salad. After getting scheduled for exploratory scope foubd out I had a " monster size hienal hernia " per my dr and was scheduled 2 weeks later due to surgery schedules to have it fixed. While waiting for surgery I got dr approval from my primary and all test required by my insurance. The lab work was the hardest to schedule of all things due to limited appointments. This included the Psychiatric Evaluation. Once I healed from liproscopic surgery, I was seen for pre-op consultation. And scheduled July 14th for Gastric Sleeve. With liquids starting week of. My i…

Sleeved Feb 2021 and still having discomfort eating and drinking. Not able to eat one whole egg yet and too much of a gulp of water hurts. I've developed some unhealthy coping mechanisms just to hide from the hunger. I'm always hungry. Just venting at this point. I'm not sure what's worse the pain from not eating or the pain of trying to get the food down. I feel so anxious thinking about putting anything in my mouth that's not going to numb the pain. I was told that it will get better. I was so excited when I hit that 4 month mark and I was like yay I can try salads. Did not go down well at all and not to be gross but came right out exactly as it went in. Just…

I just got mine done yesterday morning (7/8/21). I was nervous and scared but results came out pretty good. I really don't have pain at all, scale from 1-10 I would say 1-2. I will be discharged from hospital today. Hopefully everything will be fine in long-term. Height: 5'7 Weight: 238 Age: 41 Doctor used DaVinci robotic assisted to do my surgery.

As I get older, summer heat and humidity has increasingly gotten to my stomach and upset it. I've noticed it's been worse though since my surgery back in May. I do a lot of yard work and other projects outside and there's no way around it though. Post-surgery, my stomach has been a wreck when I'm getting overheated. I'll try to drink plenty of water, but that only gets my stomach full quicker and I really get no relief from the upset. Has anyone else dealt with something similar?

Wow! What a mistake I made! I had my surgery in February of 2020, and have by and large had a successful and unremarkable experience. Recently I had to go through some significant and painful dental procedures. I have not taken any Ibuprofen (Motrin), Alleve or the like since my surgery, but my dentist prescribed it and seemed to suggest he thought it would not be a problem since I had the surgery over a year ago and had no issues. HE WAS WRONG! I blame myself, because I knew better. I took the prescription strength for a couple of days, and then switched to non prescription dose for another 5 or so days. Simultaneously I could not really eat (dental surgery), an…

Question for the sleeved athletes out there. How far back did surgery set you in the gym? I'm a (former) competitive strongman and I really enjoy being strong, I just don't enjoy being obese with all the comorbidities. I know I'm going to lose some muscle mass as a result of surgery, and thus some strength both from that and from forced separation from the gym. For those of you who got sleeved, how far of a setback was it? Were you able to regain some of your former strength? Am I just going to have to be "regular", but with added bonus mobility, endurance (running!), ability to do gymnastics (a pull-up without swinging like a monkey!), etc.? How long …

Hi Friends, I have lost about 50lbs. I am struggling with how my arms and legs look. I did know that things would start to sag. It really is bothering me. I am very self conscious about this. I have a "beach weekend" planned with the girls next month. Do any of you have a website where I can buy a bathing suit that covers some of this???

Hello, I am new to this forum but I really need to warn others. I am 5 years post op from the sleeve surgery and am MISERABLE! I have also had 4 more surgeries to fix a hiatal hernia at the esophagus and stomach as well as pouches that were formed by the surgery. I have not been able to eat normally since the surgery and by normally I mean the way you are suppose to after VSG. I haven't been able to drink water without pain. My SW was 245 and now I am at 184 and losing since my most recent surgery. The recent surgery was to fix the hiatal hernia again. I was told it was a "new" way of fixing the hernia, nothing more was told to me. My pancreas was also remov…

Hey everyone, I got the gastric sleeve three years ago and my road to recovery has been quite challenging. After three years, I am still having problems eating food or simply drinking water. I vomit constantly sometimes it's a bubbly liquid that comes up. I have lost more than 150lbs. I'm currently at the weight of 100lbs. I didn't want to get this small but it just happened because I am unable to eat food. I have tried the liquid diet. nothing will stay down. I have been severely dehydrated, I've suffered 15 days of constipation. I've had a hiatal hernia and two repairs. I have been t the emergency room 6 times in the last 3 years for severe cramping. I have…

Today I’m 2 months post op and I finally hit 199.4! I had my surgery on 08/27/2020. I’ve been a slower looser but wow, seeing that number felt so good. I’m 5’8 1/2 and 43 years old. I also have Hashimoto’s (thyroid disease) and have struggled with my weight for more than 15 years. In January of this year I started the long process with my insurance to get approved. My highest weight was #252. My BMI at that time was 38. I have comorbidities - sleep apnea & fatty liver My insurance BCBS of Michigan required that I do the supervised nutrition for 6 months. My insurance used the weight I started at when I entered the program. Prior to starting the two we…

I'm scheduled for a colonoscopy and since my previous one was " fair" they want me to the high volume two day prep. This is after my sleeve surgery and I can't see how I can drink 180 oz, in 24 hours. I normally have 64 oz in a day. My stomach just isn't that big anymore. I have a call into my doctor. What have others done for the two day prep, post surgery?

Hi Guys! My brother works at a juice bar and has always brought me home freshly squeezed juices from work and I was wondering if they're still ok to drink even through the post op diet? My nutritionist never said anything about them, but before I drink one i want to make sure no one else was advised against them...? Your feedback is very much appreciated!! (:

Does anyone have a good “on the go” snack to recommend? Most of my meal times are planned, but occasionally I will be running errands for a while and need to have some sort of emergency snack to carry with me. It needs to be something pre-wrapped that does not melt. Before surgery, I would carry peanut butter protein bars (too high in fat), and maybe there is still some form of this that is healthy. Thanks!

Hi guys, I had my surgery March 17th, so I’m at the 5 weeks mark. I lost 22 pounds total, but in the three weeks alone I lost 6 pounds only. Is this normal? I’m not drinking or eating my calories, my food is completely on point and I’m beginning to worry. Last two weeks I lost only 2.5 pounds.

Hey Guys, Wondered if I could trouble you for some advice. I had my gastric sleeve op on Saturday morning, the surgeon/ hospital were fantastic, but the aftercare has been awful. I got myself into this mess because I am so uneducated about food, I've been effectively given no guidance, except half an A4 page, everyone else seems to have such detailed post op diet plans. I have no idea what I should/ shouldn't be doing, getting told mix messages - its liquid only, no its only pureed food. There has been no guidance on how much water I should be drinking and no idea how much protein I should be intaking. I've reached out to the weight loss company I arra…

So upon waking thus morning it felt like it was just hanging there, I had taken a stool softener yesterday to no avail. So I kept trying to go was having problems urinating as well. The pain set in, this had bee going on for over 12 hours, pain was getting worse and this hard bowel was not moving, stuck in rectum and up. Finally called Dr on call, I was ready to head to hospital the pain was so bad. He said try doing feet enema and miralax. Husband went to store and bought them. Did not give relief in 1-5 minutes, stool was so hard i…

I just went out to get my hair cut and my nails done and was feeling all good and on my way home. The angel and the devil were on my shoulders and the devil had me convinced that I could eat just a few French fries and it wouldn’t be too bad cause the portion would be small. Well thankfully they were busy because before I could get up to order the angel voice kicked in and reminded me that it was this way of thinking that sabotaged every diet I have been on up till now and I pulled through without ordering. I am curious though. Am I the only one that’s come this close? Is this an ongoing battle for others that are still In weight loss phase? What about those in maintenanc…

I had my gastric sleeve 8/2011. I began at 290 lbs. I have hit my plateau at 180 pds but then began losing again. I am now down to 129 lbs. I feel as if I have lost too much weight. I am eating all day as of yesterday. I take Periactin, a appetite increasing pill. I am drinking ensure and protein shakes also. Has this happened to anyone else? I have had to have iron transfusions due to anemia and malabsorption. I am at a loss for ideas on what I can do to gain weight. I feel like a skeleton.

Hey Y'all! After decades of misery caused by compulsive overeating and gaining and losing weight, I am considering Gastric Sleeve surgery. (I'm 45 years old and about 60-70 lbs overweight, my heaviest ever.) If you are 1+ years post op, can you share your thoughts... ~Are you glad you did this? ~What do you wish you had known before you had the surgery? ~Do you think you will be able to stay at a healthy weight long term? ~Would you recommend this surgery for someone in my situation? Thanks in advance for your advice!

I am 5 months post VSG. For the past three weeks have been at a stall. I track my food religiously (including samples if try while cooking) and usually eat about 1150-1350 calories a day, eat at least 80 grams of protein and drink 60 + ounces of water. I also take my Bariatric vitamins. At least 6 days a week I exercise for about an hour on my Peloton and burn about 500-600 calories. Is it possible that due to my exercise, I am eating too few calories? I don’t think so but I’m trying to figure out a way to break my stall.

I had VSG surgery 5/2020, I stopped completely losing weight in November 2020, and I have not lost any since. I have been put on Saxenda, and Phenteramine (at different times). I fluctuate between 165-170. my height is 5'2. I stated at 210, so I have successfully lost 40 # but thats it. I am NO WHERE near where I thought the surgery would allow me to lose. I feel like a failure. I only consume about 1000 calories a day. I started CROSSFIT but have stopped since about a month ago. I'm just over it. I'm over trying I'm over the whole thing. I'm so frustrated and mad at myself for even allowing myself to have the surgery. So my question is has anyone else been through t…
