Just curious. How long after surgery did you hit goal weight? I’m 6 months out and still need another 30-40 lbs.

Did anyone else get so tired of protein drinks the smell made you want to retch?[emoji1785]. I'm at 1 week post opp of a gastric sleeve. I've skipped my protein drink "dinners" in the last 2 days. My stomach has been growling a bit but I'm not convinced it's directly related (maybe gas?) I'm starting puree foods tomorrow so I have to remind myself I can see the light at the end of the tunnel [emoji28].

Not gonna lie- I’ve been chasing this surgery since 2018. I’m finally scheduled for August 6th, but I’m so nervous that this uptick in Covid cases is going to shut the hospitals down again. Last October I needed spine surgery badly, I was in so much pain. But being in pain didn’t make it life threatening, and so they wouldn’t bring me into the hospital to do it. They kept me on high doses of percocet until MARCH. I’m just really crossing my fingers that they’re able to keep things under better control and they don’t have to shut everybody down again. Every time I see someone in public wearing a mask down under their nose I just ?

After having a lap band for 13 years with not so great success, roller coaster weight loss, and the inability to eat certain foods at all, I am having it removed in the future and wanted some I put as to getting the gastric sleeve while they take it out. Anyone else switch and have any insight or advice as to good move or not? I’m 68 and in relatively good health.

  6. So I have a detour on my journey. Am on vacation in Florida, just got here Sat. Sunday night around 1am I developed a horrible Gall Bladder attack. Called my surgeon back home and he said if it didn’t resolve to go to the Emergency Room. I waited 16 hours and it just kept getting worse. We went to the emergency room, waited 6 hours in the lobby, 7 hours in the Emergency Department then had to be admitted for Gall Bladder removal today. I am now here at the hospital until tomorrow recovering from laparoscopic surgery. Of course I an bummed it has ruined my vacation- no swimming, no Disney parks later in the week. I am also upset I will have to stop my weight t…

At my whits end!! Gastric sleeve done back in January and STILL having a difficult time of it. Hair loss is still happening.. anyone know what to do about this? I am not getting much protein in at all due to extreme nausea, vomiting and pain when eating.

  9. Six Months out, 113lbs down overall, 75 since surgery, a few questions: 1) Hiccups, anyone else have them after eating? 2) Started walking more to spur more loss to get into the 200's, and have found that i stagger a bit when walking. Anyone else notice this? I'm getting between 3.5 to 5 miles a day in, and my wife has went with me a few times, and has notice i stagger a little. I'm guessing it's due to being lighter? 3) When to buy new clothes? Everything is falling off me, but I'm holding out. Bought a set of suspenders to keep my pants up. Just don't want to spend a lot of money, only to spend it again when i drop another 20-30lbs.

In need of some encouraging words or advise. Im 8 months post op and have lost 116 pounds. I think I have hit a Plateau on my weight. And I’m feeling defeated and upset. My surgeon said I’m doing amazing and he’s proud. My vitamin levels are good, diabetic free and no more high blood pressure. But I still feel lost. My goal weight is 140. It seems impossible at this point. I need 134 pounds to go. Sometimes I feel like I’m being to hard on myself. But some people lose so much more at 8 months.

  11. Hey all, I was sleeved a little over a year ago. alittle about me, surgery day I weighed in at 386. I’m 6’3” and prior to the sleeve I was in the gym 5 days a week most weeks. I’ve been the same weight since 5 months post op, currently weighed in at 315.No matter what I do, more intense workout, sleeve reset, eating more protein, more water, more greens. ( all those were doctor suggestions). Nothing seems to work, kinda like before I even had surgery. Even got to the point where both the surgeons nurse practitioner has said quote “ I don’t have any answers for you”. The surgeon suggest the sleeve reset because he said I had to be over eating. Which I …

Hi all.. I am recently new to this site. I am pre op.. waiting for my date of surgery for the sleeve. Should be any day now because I just got approved by my insurance. I was hoping to find a chat room where everyone can share their experiences. Some do come in which is awesome.. but with 200 members registered in the room, was hoping we could get more on to chat especially in the evening. 7 or 8 p.m. would be a great time..or in the a.m. about 7 or 8. I know not for all.. but maybe we can try. Helping one another is important. Although we have support with our docs and family, always good to get opinions of others that know how we actually feel. Thanks! Hope to see you …

I'm at the early stages of going the procedure route, and I'm looking for any feedback good or bad. It will really help me make this decision if I get feeback from people who have gone through this procedure and not just what the clinics tell.

Hi all, Got sleeved 2 days ago and am feeling pretty decent! I decided to travel to Belgium (from UK) as wait to get done on NHS was going to be too long and couldn’t afford private treatment. I have to say the experience was fantastic and would do it again in a heartbeat. Dr Dillemans and all of the staff at the hospital were excellent, op went smoothly (apparently my stomach was very large) and other than a rough hour or two immediately post op pain has been minimal! Flew home today after a nurse visit at the hotel and glad to be back home Looking forward to things settling down and getting on with my new life ?

  18. My VSG on 7/20 reportedly went well, but I had to stay in the hospital an extra day as due to pain and not feeling well, was pumped full of fluids (today, I am still eight pounds higher than my surgery weight, and look pregnant), was discharged on Thursday, went back to the ER on Friday and was diagnosed with a superficial blood clot near where my IV was), and ever since I started trying to add back diluted Protein Shakes yesterday, it's been awful. Every time I tried to take a teeny tiny sip of the diluted Protein Shake, I would burp, my stomach would make horrible noises, and I eventually had to stop (I drank about 2/3 of the bottle between afternoon and evening…

Ever since my vacation last month. I can't seem to get back on track after having some sugar free candies it seems all I want to do is snack. I am 3 months post op and have reached my goal. I am having a hard time with this craving and wanting to snack. This hasn't happened until vacation and was released to full foods. Is this in my head or does everyone get this after the go for everything is clear.

Hi, I just started a new Vitamin Celebrate One 45. It’s a large capsule so I was surprised my dietician recommended it. I have been fine on the other Vitamins I have taken up until this one. Within 20mins of taking it I got nauseated and just felt off. Has anyone had any issues with this one? Not sure if it’s bc it’s so big, or if just being new I need to get used to it. I have a call out to my dietician but she doesn’t call back for several weeks and my surgeon says call the dietician lol. Not sure if I should try it again tomorrow to see if I get used to it. The only time o ever had an issue with a Vitamin was when I took a Iron pill years ago and it instantly mad…

I had bought the cookbook, by Sarah Kent, which I really like a lot. Easy to follow with a lot of good recipes/tips, etc.. but my reason for coming here today is that in the book they mention using powdered unflavored egg whites. I find powdered eggs with yolks and vanilla flavored, but not just unflavored powdered egg whites and don't want to get a huge container to start with. Does anyone happen to know where I get them? Thanks in Advance, Lynda

  25. Hello everyone, I'm 23, don't have any co-morbidities, and scheduled for surgery July 28. Blood pressure 122/78, lab work is good, endoscopy/cardiology etc were good. My BMI is 40.16 as of this morning. Thus, I barely qualified for the surgery. I'm currently on my preop liquid diet , day 6, down 8-10 lbs. As I've been on the liquid diet, I've started to have doubts. No one but my partner and sister know I'm doing this surgery, my parents do not know. I just wonder if the change I'm making to my body at such a young age is worth it and if should just try to lose weight by myself. I have done it before. Some of the side effects some people experience that I've read: G…

Hi Everyone, I recently set my gastric sleeve surgery date for September 10th. I have been trying to do as much research as possible. Luckily I stumbled upon this page and I have read about all kind of complications that were never brought to my attention by my surgeon or his staff. I am starting to have some serious second thoughts. I would appreciate any and all insight as to was the procedure worth it? Do you regret it? Do you feel like your life has improved? Has it declined? Am I over thinking this? What should I be aware of? Should I try to loose the 100lbs the old fashion way?

  27. Hi gang, Decided to take the leap and get my life and guy sorted for good. Life time dieter nothing has worked well enough. I was contemplating going to the EOC medical centre in Mexico for my surgery ( with Dr Eliaz Ortiz & Co). I was wondering for those who have had surgerys abroad how do you managed with post op issues or (heaven forbid!) complications when you return home? Im in the UK and blessed with NHS as support, but I know that GP's love to pass people off to specialists. Can anyone share their experiences with Post Op support in the UK after returning abroad from thier surgery? Were you palmed off to a specialist? Was it NHS cover…

  28. Hello! I have been wanting to get rid of my comorbidities as much as possible. Therefore; I chose to have sleeve surgery. I'm older now and afraid to have it . I feel it may be harder on me due to my age 67yrs old now. I don't want to have any amputations, bad heart and kidney failure like my parents and some of my siblings. I want to get healthier before these things start to happen to me. I've been having these issues a very long time now and blessed that I've avoided these things thus far. I just feel that I need to do this. I have been trying on my own for a long time and now I'm seriously needing this tool to jump start my new healthy life style that I want to do. I …

Has anyone continued on their dose of Metformin after surgery if you had Diabetes 2? My doctor initially told me to cut it in half to 500MG twice a day as I was on 1000MG twice a day before surgery. In the hospital they kept checking my blood sugar and only administered insulin 1 time. When they discharged me they said I did not need to continue anyting but that came from the discharge nurse. Issue with that is I was in ICU and did minimal sipping of mostly water and a little chicken broth. Now I am drinking protein shakes and starting to mix in veggies and fruits into these drinks so I would think that will change the dynamic a bit. Can't speak with my doctor for …

I have young children, work full time + not much help so time won’t be on my side post op either. Can anyone recommend any soups I can make in the next few weeks and freeze & any dry store things to buy now. So far I have: sugar free syrups, skimmed powder, protein water. Will also pick up some sugar free ice lollies & jelly pots. I have some extante meal replacement shakes & soups ( need to check whether these are…

My wife has struggled with depression and her weight for 10 years + and there have been a number of tradegys in her family including the death of her mother last year from cancer who she was extremely close to. She is currently on the maximum dose of Sertraline (200mg) plus thyroxine and 50mg Amitriptyline for sinus pain. Recently her depression worsened again but the thought of having the surgery done finally is giving her a boost. One of her close friends who suffers from depression and …

Hi everyone. I have done all that I can to try and have surgery this summer, but it won't happen until the fall (we all know what a process this is). I am a mother of two and teach 6th grade, thus busy. I am very nervous about my stamina on the two week liquid diet and during recovery. My surgeon said that I will need to take a week off. For those of you who have been through the process already, what are your thoughts? I started the process in January and would hate to perhaps postpone surgery until winter break, but am wondering if it's the wisest thing to do. Teaching while on a liquid diet sounds EXHAUSTING.

  40. Hi all! Hope all are well! So I’m about 2 months post sleeve feeling great down about 35 pounds… had a brief stall here and there but staying patient throughout. In my past, I would enjoy a typical white claw or Malibu seltzer cocktail (sold in cans). Knowing that we are not allowed carbonation, does anybody have any suggestions of drinks that are sold ready to drink in can form but not with not carbonated?? I’m not even sure any exist and I’m sure I would sit on one for close to an hour but just wondering if there were options. I was a fan of the cheesy sweet drinks in the past, but I don’t even think I could handle them at this point. I picked up a light pineapple…

Today I had my first check up since my surgery 2 weeks ago. It went well and I was told I'm now able to do 'pureed food' going forward over the next 3-4 weeks. So for dinner, I pureed mashed potatoes and fish in sauce (2 tablespoons as suggested at appt today) I couldn't eat it all, took 30-40 mins eat what I did, then 20 mins after that I had cramps and was running to the toilet. Trial & error here, back to the drawing board tomorrow, I think ?
