Can't lose weight

Recommended Posts

I am 4 years post op and I regained 20 pounds. I cannot lose the weight, I've tried everything. Yesterday I only had 1000 calories. Any recommendations?

Over what period of time did you gain the 20lb? How long have you been trying to lose the gain and what have you tried? How many calories are you currently eating? Are you weighing and measuring everything you eat? Tracking everything you eat? What exercise are you doing? How much fluids (and what fluids) are you consuming?

This will help people in their responses to you.

a 10-20 lb bounce back is extremely common after hitting our lowest weight. It usually happens during year 3. And if you're at or near a normal BMI, losing 10-20 lbs is a BEAR. I gained 20, and would like to lose 10 of it, but it's been a huge challenge - so I can relate.

if you're not tracking, I'd start that again - and go back to following all the rules (protein first, then non-starchy vegetables, and if you have room, an occasional small serving of fruit or whole grain carb). Don't eat and drink at the same time - all the stuff we learned and did that first year.

if you're doing all this and still not losing, and again, if you're at or close to a normal BMI, it could be that this is just where your body wants to stabilize, and it'll be an ongoing fight to go lower and keep it there. I've kinda come to that conclusion - I have to either accept it or be prepared to constantly fight it. Ugh.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
