Has anyone continued on their dose of Metformin after surgery if you had Diabetes 2? My doctor initially told me to cut it in half to 500MG twice a day as I was on 1000MG twice a day before surgery. In the hospital they kept checking my blood sugar and only administered insulin 1 time. When they discharged me they said I did not need to continue anyting but that came from the discharge nurse. Issue with that is I was in ICU and did minimal sipping of mostly water and a little chicken broth. Now I am drinking protein shakes and starting to mix in veggies and fruits into these drinks so I would think that will change the dynamic a bit. Can't speak with my doctor for a couple days now so was wondering what everyone else is doing with Metformin/Insulin as I think I am going to go back to the dosage twice a day but cut it down to 500 MGM until I have my blood formally tested in the next 30 days.
