Hi everybody, A little background info: Had vsg in Fall 2012, lost 120 lbs, felt amazing! I got married, had a baby in Fall 2014, gained weight. Had another baby in Summer 2016, gained even more weight. I sought the advice of my bariatric surgeon, he recommended full bypass, and gave me a goal to lose 15 lbs, before he would schedule. Well, I've lost 40 lbs. I feel like I should be able to get back to my goal weight (165lbs) without having a bypass...but the task of losing another 80 pounds seems almost impossible. Has anyone on here, lost that much weight, without additional surgery? Thanks for reading.

Hi everyone. Yesterday marked my 4 week post op since my surgery date on June 17th. I had the sleeve. I have lost a total of 21 lbs since then. I felt good until I left my 4 week appt. yesterday & my surgeon said I didn't lose enough and he wanted to see me lose more. I've been down since then. I thought I was doing well. Does anybody know the average weight loss for 4 weeks?

I Hi All! I had surgery on July 15 so I’m just about a month out. I’m panicking because I started out at 250 before my 2 week preop diet. During my preop diet I lost 9 pounds. I went into surgery at 241 pounds. I’m now almost a month later 226 pounds. For the last week it’s been at 225 and today it jumped to 226.6. Last night I had about 600 calories…previously it’s been between 350-500. I decided to jump it up some to see if I could get over my stall and I gained!! Ugggggh…what am I doing wrong? I got this surgery to better my health and to lose weight of course and I feel Im on an up and down cycle again. Please help with advice. I figured adding more calories would …

I was 275 pounds in 2012. I was overweight, unhealthy, pre-diabetic. I did the Sleeve in Tijuana. My goal was to get down to 200. This morning, I was 193.8. I got the weight off, and have kept it off for 9 years. It works! If you consider it and treat it as a life change, it works. For 9 years, I have done my protein shakes twice a day. I do not eat carbs....I work out. I get full, I stop eating. I am 61 and my doc says I have the bloodwork of a man in his 30s. The first picture was a month before surgery. July 2012. The second picture was recent. April 2021.

I had my VSG a month ago and they also did a hernia repair (I was told) A month out, I am still having some slight pain on my left side. It’s not constant but it’s there. For instance, if I’m sleeping on my side, upon waking up and moving, I might feel it…or sitting for long periods, stretching, etc. The incisions are all healed. Is this normal? Should it be gone by now?

Hi everyone. I have been following this forum since 2018 when I got sleeved but never had the courage to make an account and post. Well, I got the courage today because I feel like my life is spinning out of control. I will try and keep this as short as possible for brevity but I really need some support and encouragement. I am a male, early 40's who got VSG in 2018. I lost approximately 125 lbs. I was happy, my life changed. I was motivated, more social and felt like I was on top of the world. I got down to 170-175 and felt great. Then, the pandemic hit. Before it hit, my family left my state and moved. Then my father passed during the pandemic and I ended up movi…

Hi I'm 10 days post op and yesterday I was feeling very low energy and almost sick so I drank 1 protien shake in the am and the rest of the day I had nothing but water and chicken broth. But I today i feel like I could chug bottles and bottles of water and idk if my shakes and water are just going right through me but I don't have feel that full feeling. I'm nervous, I've heard you can't stretch your pouch I heard you can. I actually feel kinda hungry today. Also i don't feel that like weird pain as soon as water hits my stomach like before when I drank a little too much. Is there something wrong with me? ?

I keep reading about people only able to eat 2 tablespoons post sleeve…. I am almost 3 weeks post op, and on the purée phase. I am prepping in 4oz containers. I can eat 4oz of puréed soup with no issues, the same with puréed cottage cheese, yogurt, jello or pudding. I do get fuller after hummus or ricotta … but can usually do about 3oz of those with no issues. I do stop at the 4 oz even if i don’t feel full. I really dont want to over do it. I am not having nausea or pain at all and haven’t since day 1. I can also drink more than a sip or two at one time. If I drink too much I do get a pain from that but not bad. I think I am afraid the surgeon didn’t make my …

Has anyone else out there been diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease, Stage 3a I was diagnosed in late August. VGS is scheduled for 3/22. My highest weight was 22 pounds more than I am now and that was several years ago. Over the past years, I have been diagnosed with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, Add to that, this year: pre-diabetes and CKD, 3a. Anyone had success with reversing (or stopping) CKD, beginning with Stage 3a? Did the VGS help? My A1C only recently hit the pre-diabetes marker. Previous treatments for obesity have included Saxenda, phentremine, and topomox--for a few years now. BTW, I am 70 years "young." I don't feel, act …

Stats: Male, 6’4” (193cm for the more enlightened) 46 years old. All time known high weight 356lbs (161.5kg) (approx June 2013) Surgery weight 334lbs (151.5kg). Self pay, Dr Galileo Villarreal - Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, June 12, 2020 $4400 all in, VSG & hiatal hernia repair. Current weight 194lbs (88kg). This turned out to be way too long… sorry. The idea of having surgery wasn’t anything I ever really gave any thought to. I did the lifetime attempts at diet and exercise without success. The lowest weight I ever achieved was 285 when I hiked almost daily in the mountains surround Las Vegas. But like all my other attempts, things changed, I got tired of t…

Hi all My hubby had gastric sleeve surgery yesterday, and I'm really worried about him. He sounds dreadful on the phone, so weak. He said that every time he takes a sip of water it feels like a lead balloon hitting his stomach, it hurts then he feels violently nauseous. I wondered if any of you peeps had a similar experience? I don't know if what he is experiencing is to be expected, or if it means there is a problem. I haven't been able to speak to his dr yet to ask if its normal? Thanks in advance ?

I have my surgery booked in 4 weeks time - it still feels too far away to be real in all honesty. My head was all over the place - am I making the right decision, am taking the easier way out ( I know it’s not!), am I being selfish spending such a large amount of money on myself ect ect. We had a family gathering last weekend, one of the first ones since Covid and lots of photos were taken. I saw said photos today. I burst into tears. I know and photo gate only reinforced that WLS is the right decision for me. I’ve been a yo yo dieter for as long as I can remember, I’ve been every size you can think of - but always always end up fatter than I started. Self esteem is non e…

Hello everyone. my VSG surgery was 7/29/21 and since then I’ve had nothing but intense pain. I think this is beyond the usual post op pain but I’m not sure, that’s why I’m here. so, first I want to say I’ve already called my surgeon’s after hours call service. Apparently he didn’t have anyone listed as to who takes his after hours calls so, the gal sent my message to him. That was Monday, 8/2. He still hasn’t called. Frankly, if he doesn’t want to talk to me, I sure don’t want to force him to. Anyway, I called because I’m not able to keep up with hydration because it hurts too bad. My sips are 1/3 of an ounce. They barely wet my tongue. Am I doing my sips wrong?…

Hi all. I believe for my insurance BlueCross blue shield of Illinois (I have blue choice ppo) they need a letter of recommendation for weight loss surgery by my main doctor. My main doctor is just my obgyn/gynecologist that I see every year. Does she count as a primary doctor, would they accept it from her or I need to find a family doctor general practitioner?

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum. Was really hoping to get some advice from those who have been through the gastric sleeve. A little background. I'm 45, BMI 43, history of arteriosclerosis (2 stents) and T2 diabetes (under control with meds). My cardio has recommended I consider the gastric sleeve and I've been working towards it since end of last year and I am 8 days away now. I was excited and all ready for it but lately the more I read of some people's experience the more I'm scared, and I am suddenly getting second thoughts. I've been trying to find out more about what to expect after surgery but can't seem to find a good source from people who have actual…

I had my sleeve 8 years ago and have been battling severe GERD for two years and serious weight gain since my hysterectomy just last December. Now, I am miserable and weak. 10-20 tums a day, unable to properly take my medications because I throw them up. Cannot eat because I throw it all up too. Just ordered some syntax iced tea and protein soups. I’m taking 80mg protonix daily and wake up choking on my bile bile at night. My PCP dismissed me. Saw her PA and at no time did she even look down my throat. Got a referral to a GI and they called to have a consult in a month! A consult! Only! Called my old bariatric surgeon and he’s not in my insurance network and I can…

Hi I am 3 days post op and I'm a bit confused on what times I should be eating/drinking shakes and soups. Will the soups and liquids digest out of our sleeve right away. How do I know if I'm drinking too much. Do we count shakes and soups as liquids? Is feeling bloated normal? ? or am I full? I feel so confused ? did anyone else have issues getting comfortable while trying to sleep.

Hello! My name's Rachel. I'm 35, 5'0" & cw: 214. I've been trying for the past 5 months to get my (extremely good) insurance to cover a gastric sleeve for me, but they've been running me around like crazy. I've already spent 1k out of pocket, and they would make me wait at least a year to even be able to get it, and who knows how much it'd end up costing out of pocket in the US. I ended up finding out about surgery in Tijuana and just put my deposit down for surgery on September 13th. The mental health alleviation of knowing it's on the horizon and I don't have to be on the phone with my insurance every other day crying is honestly worth paying out of pocket for …

I had vsg on 7.20.2021. It's gone absolutely fine, I'm getting plenty of water and plenty of protein but I feel like I'm starving. I had my follow up apt today she they approved me to soft food. I've had cravings terribly and I thought that would be better since they take out the part of the stomach where the grehlin (?) is located. It's not! So, I totally bit the dust and ate taco hamburger and refried beans with some cheese. Probably 4 bites of each. [emoji17] what the heck is happening?!? Any advice???
