HI! I just recently had the sleeve April 29th and im worried about my transition back to work! im a nurse and with covid, the acuity is super high. were supposed to get like a breakfast break and a lunch break but I can't ever remember taking more than 15 minutes break during a 12 hour day. I really nervous about getting my water in or having time to sit down and drink my drinks and eat my food. I should be going back may 18th, so starting phase 2 diet. Please, any nurses out there or anyone who also does labor intense jobs where you're on your feet for 12+ hours, pls give me advise on making sure I get my water in??? At home its no problem bc I sit with my water right ne…

  2. Hello I am in my pre-operative stages going for Gastric Sleeve and hope to complete all my requirements by end of this month. I started my quest in March 2021. I just met with the Surgeon Dr. Sirinivasan and she seems to be very knowledgeable and thorough. Just want to know if anyone else had her as their surgeon and what was your experience with her.

  5. I had gastric sleeve surgery March 18th this year. Today is 7 weeks post-op. I'm missing pilates. When can I resistance train again? I did light pilates yesterday and slept 11 hours last night.. is it too soon?

Long deep breath......... The last 3 weeks have been weeks of emotion. Week one discomfort wondering if its all worth it. Week 2 excitement because the pounds are coming off and the adding of full liquids. Week 3 excitement for purees and exercise, then moments of sadness and frustration when the scale didn't move wondering if I am doing something wrong. THANK GOD for this forum where just typing week 3 you she that the stalls are normal!! For those of you new to this take a few hours to just type in all your concerns questions or thoughts you will find something. Hi all! I’ve attached my stats in this message. Can someone take a look and give me some feedback? I know everyone loses at different rates, but I’m kind of freaking out that I’ll be a super slow loser and won’t end up losing that much. I know I’m doing all the right things. I’m not sure what else to do. I’m getting about 1000 cals a day which I’m sure will only slightly climb as time goes on so then I’m sure my weight loss will continue to slow. Any help or insight is appreciated!!

Hey everyone! I'm new here, just had vsg last Thursday 4/29. I'm curious if anyone else has experienced something similar...I noticed about 2 days after surgery that when I take a deep breath, I get a sharp pain in my right upper abdominal area. It's not unbearable, but it is uncomfortable. If you experienced this, how long did it last? Did you get it checked out? I saw my primary care Dr yesterday and she mostly brushed it off saying there's a lot going on in there right now and it should subside. Did bloodwork and it was fine. I'm sure I'm just scaring myself and trying to rush my healing, but I am genuinely curious if this has happened to anyone else.

I’m one week out from sleeve and I’m incredibly hangry. I’m on smooth liquids for another week and am constantly hungry. Anyone else have this problem? To add a little background, I was never hungry pre-op. I ate terribly but was never hungry. I’d go all day without eating anything at all. It’s a strange feeling to be hungry now (constantly). ❤️

  12. Hi, I am female but I wear my hair cut very short, above the ears and buzzed down to a 2/3 on the sides and in the back, longer on top. I'm wondering how noticeable hair loss usually is for hair that is very short to begin with. I did a quick search on the men's forum to see talk about hair loss in general and there wasn't a ton there, leading me to believe it's really just people with long hair who have noticeable issues. Can anyone with very short hair speak from experience? I'm just wondering, like, will I have bald patches or anything? Thank you. ❤️

  13. Hi folks. I had a revision from band to sleeve on 3/26/21. I'm on stage 4 and had some ground up gyro meat for dinner last night that was a little dry, but I did OK with it. Today I feel "off". My head has a dull ache, I've had off and on dull ache in my stomach/chest, and when I took my swallow able multivitamin, the underside of my jaw hurt a little. What did I do? Is it just indigestion? Any ideas before I call my doc? Anyway, in the meantime I went back to just shakes to let my stomach calm down a bit. Thanks in advance for answering.

I had gastric sleeve surgery in August. I went from 356 to 246 and the last few days when I bend over really far I get a pain in my stomach a little left from my naval. It hurts for a second and then goes away. It feels almost like when you really stretch a muscle but like it's also painful. Not sure if it's because with the weight loss I can bend more than my body is use to or if it's just me or if it's surgery related. Please help if you have any clue why this is happening. Aside from this I feel fine. Diet is good. Weight loss is good. I feel healthier and I feel really really good. It's just this bending thing that's got me freaked out.

Hi! I'm new to this forum. I'm 67 and am waiting for insurance authorization before I can schedule a surgery date. Are there any other people here who had their surgery while in their 60's? I have struggled with my weight for 44 years, and have joined WW countless times, tried OA, 6Atkins, South Beach and Noom. Like most of you I'd lose a little and gain back more. At my highest I was 291, and that was when my doctor recommended gastric sleeve surgery. I wish I had considered it earlier, but I thought it was the cheater's way to go. I know think it's my last hope. If there are older folks, how did you do with surgery, do you have any regrets, and are things that you wis…

I am scheduled for VGS on June 3rd and have been watching (probably too many) videos about the procedure. It seems like needing to shrink fatty liver is the most important and risk of complications if your liver is too large. I plan to follow the pre-op diet religiously, but was wondering if anyone had the surgery and the doctor said your liver was still a little fatty and yet your surgery went well? I'm getting scared that, after being fat for so long, two weeks won't be enough to get my liver to a healthy size. I also enjoy a glass of wine almost every night and know that doesn't help either. Thanks for any feedback.

This morning our parent association put out a beautiful spread for us for teacher appreciation week. They always do such a great job and they had juice, coffee, tons of great pastries and breakfast items - in the past I would had probably taken a few donuts or crumb cakes and maybe even later gone back for more. Today (5 weeks post op) I looked at it all, enjoyed just the fact that they brought it for us, thanked them, and took a small cup of decaf coffee and an activia yogurt. I only had a few sips of coffee and half of the yogurt because its really high in sugar but it came so naturally almost to admire all of those treats, think about how good they probably are but the…

I had a lap band put in about 15 years ago. Nothing but trouble for me the whole time I had it. I could not swallow at night with the least amount of restriction in it. I know many here have/had lap bands and did well...congrats for that. For me that damn thing was straight from HELL!! I hated it! I am only now realizing how much I hated that thing, more than I thought. For me this Sleeve surgery has been amazing. Even with around 20 days of stalls in the first 58 days I still have lost about 30 lbs since surgery. I am not quite 2 months post op and have no hunger which is really incredible. 27. So I am starting liquid stage 2 today after being a week postop after BPD/DS and I'm worried about the amount of consuming I can do before feeling full. I worry I don't get full quick enough. It's still liquid, so there's THAT right? I intended to have my cottage cheese, small curd, and chew it well enough to be more thin and less curd-y, have a quarter or half cup of it and probably feel like I hit a wall. It didn't quite happen like that. I nipped through it slowly and I'd get what I thought was full for a second but it passed like a gas bubble. Happened a couple times and I'd hold off for a couple minutes. But if I got a pang, I'd allow myself another bite or a couple.…

Hi everyone! Has anyone felt like they can eat more than others? Yesterday, I ate 2oz of cream of wheat for breakfast, lunch was 2oz of egg salad, snack was a protein shake and dinner was 4oz of Ricotta Bake - I thought I ate 2oz but turns out I ate 4oz. I am only in my second week and im on puree. Most of the time I can eat 2oz before I get full but I notice sometimes im able to eat a little more. This makes me nervous like im doing something wrong and, or that im going to gain weight eventually from this. I know it sounds crazy but it just makes me nervous. Any encouragement is very much appreciated. Thank you!

I had a sleeve done yesterday, late morning, and I am about 24 hrs out. My doc put me on gabapentin the day prior, and I had some dilautid in recovery. SO much LESS pain than I anticipated. I was about to drink water and broth all afternoon and night with minimal discomfort. Walked twice up and down the halls... today am feeling well enough to get out of bed alone use the bathroom and walk without assistance. Had a tiny (1/2) dose of some narcotic overnight, more as a precaution, otherwise have been comfortable with Tylenol and torodol. Good luck to all the upcoming surgeries!

Hi everyone, I had my surgery less than 24 hours ago and writing this in the hospital now. I made it very clear to my anesthesiologist and care team nausea is a concern for me and they’ve done everything they can to mitigate. So much that I’ve only felt one bout of nausea. The pain I’m feeling is uncomfortable but not unbearable. Feel like I did crazy ab exercise and feeling sore. Overall I feel good but this could be the fact I have an IV. Am I dreaming? Will I feel like crap when I get home?

Hi. I got sleeved on April 10th. I’ve lost 14 lbs so far. I know weight loss won’t always be this rapid but I’m curious about how confident everyone is about their shrinking size. I’m looking to order some summer clothes. Just a few things. If I order some things for say July, would you order a size or two smaller? I’m concerned if I wait until late June there won’t be anything left! What did, or would, you guys do?

I started the process for VSG last July and have lost only 13 pounds since. The problems I have are too little activity from age (65) age a lot of injuries, plus fibromyalgia and nerve damage. I am 270 right now at 5’4”. It is darn hard to walk very far or increase above 5,000 steps a day, which is around 30 minutes. My doc requires 60 minutes of exercise a day. Because of the exercise tolerance I have added in very slow yoga. First I just try to lie on the floor which was quite painful at first. But after s week I can do that now with less pain, so I am adding in additional easy poses which I hold longer each time. The yoga has somehow motivated me to eat more fruits…

I'm scheduled for my procedure on July 23rd. It's a Friday. I was told that I will fly into San Diego early, be picked up and taken to Hospital BC and have my procedure that same day. I will stay that night and Saturday night at the hospital and Sunday I will be at the hotel. Monday I will check out of the Hotel and be driven back to the airport in San Diego and then fly home. Everything taking only 4 days. I'm worried that I'm not giving myself enough time to rest. Is this time line realistic? I don't want to be in excruciating pain or hurting myself trying to do to much to soon. Any feedback??

I'm finding myself falling back into the trap of stress eating. I'm a year out and the last few weeks have probably been the most stressful of my life. I was doing really well handling my feelings because I was able to run and distract myself. The last few days though I haven't had time to run and have been finding myself looking for snacks even though I know I'm not hungry. I know I should have the will power to just not eat something but its not that easy. If someone has any advice on this please help. I'm trying to avoid falling into bad and unhealthy habits of overeating and I could really use some words of encouragement or advice.

Hello everyone. I am going through pre-op approvals and my doctors all feel like I am a good candidate (just waiting on insurance). To be honest with myself and you all, I am scared and go back and forth with this. I am worried most about the protein and nutrition aspect. I am not a cook. At all. I hardly eat any protein or much meat now. I have been trying to do the shakes which I like so that is encouraging. I am not a veggie person. I am a carb person. Waffles, cereal, bagels, chips and salsa. Sigh. I am so worried as to how I am going to figure out 1. How to cook...2. What to cook 3. Staying away from carbs and sugar (my two favorite food groups). Hi, I'm making a shopping list of non-food things I should get for the kitchen. Since I have always eaten a lot of takeout/frozen meals, I'm light on even very basic supplies. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am definitely getting a food processor. I am thinking about those little plastic 1 oz cups. What do y'all think? Don't have a surgery date quite yet but have approval and fingers are crossed for mid to late May.

I realized why I've been so emotional (cranky/sad) lately. While I have not reverted back to disordered eating, I've been dealing with the loss of food as a way to calm myself, numb out, or otherwise cover up uncomfortable emotions. I read helpful blogs, follow Dr. Duc Vuong, and while I want to see a therapist, I just can't afford the extra co-pays right now. (I am saving $ for this,) Have any of you experienced this? How do you handle it?

Good morning. Today I am supposed to start my 2 week pre op diet. I have struggled hard the past 2 days and am a wreck. I even think about the surgery and I cry so hard I can’t breath. Let me go back a little bit. My insurance does not cover the surgery so I am paying myself. That also means that it all is happening really fast. My initial consult was March 5 and surgery is May 6. Also no prerequisite were required like a psych evaluation. I started calorie counting and exercising in my own in February and since I have lost 24 pounds on my own. From 291 to 267. 46. Hello all, I had the sleeve surgery plus a hiatal hernia repair on April 6. I am at the two week Mark and I am thinking about returning to work at the 3 week mark. At work, I'm sitting most of the day, but talking all day. I have appointments with clients most if the day and run various meetings, so it's a fairly busy day for me. It's already a nice challenge when I'm home to fit in all my water and protein. Whenever I have a doctor appointment, I fall behind with both so I am worried that if I am at work busy all day, how on earth will I be able to focus on myself enough to get everything in. Hey all. I've been lurking on this board for the past week or so, but this is my first actual post. I'm almost through the first week of my 2-week pre-op liquid diet. While I'm not necessarily hungry, I definitely want FOOD. Actual solids. Never thought I would look forward to cottage cheese so much.... Anyway - I don't seem to be losing much on the liquid diet, which surprised me. 4 pounds in 4 days. On any other diet that would be GREAT, but lordy - on 1000 calories or less a day it doesnt seem like much. While I know there is no "normal" for this thing, I was just wondering what other people have experienced. Thanks in advance!

I have this unfounded doubt in my mind that for some reason no surgery would work for me, maybe because of weight loss attempts that worked for others but not me in the past. Did anyone else feel this way before surgery? What are somethings you wish you knew BEFORE getting the sleeve surgery? Did you have any doubts before surgery and how were they resolved?

I am not quite 2 months post op and have no hunger which is really incredible. My surgeon said that some people have no hunger for up to 4 years. I hear others on here are hungry all the time and didn't experience no hunger. Since the portion of your stomach that creates the hunger hormone has been removed I really don't understand (but sure someone will tell me) why some folks are hungry and some are not. How long did the no hunger phase last for you?
