Sorry if this is too much information, but I am almost a week out from surgery and having stools that are completely liquid. This makes sense considering the only thing I’ve been eating is liquid ?. However, I see a lot of people experience constipation after the sleeve and I seem to be the opposite. Did anyone else have this?

Hi friends, Surgery is coming up so appreciate any help as I have so many questions. I work in a fast pace retail sales environment which has very little down time. Do you guys have any tips on how I can get my water intake throughout the day. I also heard the little medicine cup is the easiest to help the water get down, just wondering how long it takes everyone to get a 8oz glass of water down. Thanks for all your help Mark

Has anybody had surgery with Dr. Huacuz in Tijuana recently? I've heard great things about him, his assistant is super sweet. I had a phone consultation with Dr. Huacuz last week and he was super caring and professional. I might be getting a sleeve in October if I get my passport in time.

Hi! It’s been YEARS since I was on this forum! I was very active from 2014-2016. Loved the support, hated the drama. I had VSG in 2014 and although I was a bit on the slower side losing because I was considered a “lightweight” (ha) at my surgery weight of 235, I was very successful. My low weight was 142 for about 15 minutes, but after a little bounce weight of 10-12 pounds or so, I maintained there for several years and was even running! Me—running at almost 50 years old! I was a WLS success! **Record screeching noise** not so fast..... 2018: On my Quest to stay active by finding new and fun activities, I decided to get on roller skates again at 51 years old. Let’…

Someone else posted the idea with a picture of her eggs In it and i said then how clever it was but I felt it worth mentioning again as I pulled my dressing cups out today to portion out my faux lasagna (a lasagna recipe without noodles someone also shared on this wonderful site that works great for purée stage to satisfy italian craving) https://bariatricbits.com/single-serve-baked-ricotta/ Anyways, I got mine in 100 pack on Amazon with lids but they have all different quantities and They work perfectly. Especially since I don’t know my pre full trigger yet it’s a good way to know when it’s time to SLOW down and be careful and it’s just about perfect amount for me. …

Hey Everyone, My surgery is next week and I want to make sure I have everything together. Has anyone tried Genepro? Can I start Genepro week 1 after surgery in my clear liquids? Has anyone tried Genepro in just plain water? What are some clear & regular liquids that have been your favorite? I'm not crazy about Powerade Zero but I guess I can try it again. If I cant stomach it before surgery I cant imagine I will be able to after. I need some of your favorite clear liquids such as powered zero, crystal light, Mio, Etc. I also could use some ideas for the full liquids. I know which protein drinks I like but I'm lost when it comes to the best soups, fruit ju…

Hi all! I had a sleeve on Feb. 17 and rapidly lost 25 pounds, and now I seem to be stuck for the last week or so. I’ve read that this is common around week 3, but I’m so frustrated. Have not “cheated” or done anything I’m not supposed to do, and I’m walking on the treadmill 5 days a week for 45 minutes at a decent pace. WTH??? I know I probably just need to hang on and wait it out, but it’s hard not to feel like I’m doing something wrong. Any advice is appreciated!

New here, and been wanting to sleeve for several years. Had some BMI issues with UHC several years ago and gave up. Had lost weight and couldn't meet their 5 year BMI requirement. Anyway, I'm with BCBS of Illinois now and am waiting for insurance verification so I can meet with a surgeon. Its been almost four weeks. Does anybody have experience with this insurance? Any advice on roadblocks or bumps i may encounter? Any chance I get this done this year? Thanks, Joe

Hello all, I had my surgery 5 days ago and was released after 1 day. My discharge from the hospital had me stop virtually all diabetes meds and drop my blood pressure meds a lot as well. Even though I am not eating much, my sugars are still elevated so I put myself back on some of my meds and I called my endocrinologist. My endo said a lot of people almost immediately don't need insulin anymore but if my sugars were high, I should cover it with insulin but test my sugars to avoid a low. Has anyone here (who has diabetes) been completely taken off your meds right after surgery? I know in time my doses will decrease and I am not looking for a magic bullet to say poof - diab…

3 weeks post OP and having a hard time with life. I was never a binge eater but I miss eating without pain. I am hungry all the time and this pureed mush isnt doing anything for me. I detest about 90 percent of the foods I'm allowed. It still hurts to eat them and I just dont eat to avoid the pain and discomfort. I didn't know it was going to be this psychologically draining. I was so not prepared for how to handle this part. I'm whining and ranting maybe I should have posted this there. I would go for walks when everyone else was having dinner. The smell of food drives me crazy. I'm so hungry and so tired. Havent been able to take vitamins. Water is hard to ge…

Had gastric sleeve surgery 11-29-2016. Went from 398 lb, down to 210. I'm currently 250 and it was what I called "covid" pounds because of staying home and eating small meals but too frequently during the day. Has anyone else had these weight gain issues and how did you address it?

So, I had my surgery October 15, 2020 and weighed 249 on surgery day. May of 2020 the doctor said I was 259. Anyway, Today I weighed at 201. I am happy about this but I feel like it’s not enough. In January I had my 3 month appointment and weighed 208. My doctor said that was too much weight loss....I was working out 45 minutes a day to make sure I maintained a calorie deficit. They told me the surgery is the tool and to let it work. Well, to prove them I was doing what I know would work for me I haven’t done any workouts except walking. No weights, no spin classes etc... and since that January appt I have only lost 7 pounds. I am super frustrated!! I’m aware that the sur…

Hello! I have been reading a little on this site, and it has been making me feel better... but... if anyone cares to read my situation, I'd love feedback. I am about 205lbs, 5'6" and 34 years old. I have always struggled with my weight, and the only times I have been "healthy" weights, is when I have used some outside aide, such as phen or contrave. Well, the phen makes me feel awful, and the contrave doesn't work for some reason anymore. Plus, I have to combine it with a ton of zonegran (similar to topemax). Basically im a walking pharamacy - yuck. I don't know what to do... I'm very afraid of surgery. It gives me major anxiety to think about going under anesthesia…

Hello all, I am scheduled for the sleeve surgery in April. I was feeling excited about having surgery until two weeks ago. I have been watching a ton of videos on YouTube and reading lots of posting on here. Now I am SCARED! I understand that every person has a unique experience, and I had done lots of research before and during the four month weight loss program that I had to go through per my insurance requirements. But now, when I read stuff and watch videos, I get scared and am doubting that I should put my body through a surgery. I'm having the surgery for medical reasons versus a desire to be a certain number on the scale or to look a certain way. I want to imp…

Hello, My name is Shannon but everyone calls me Shani. I am 34 years old and my start weight was 335 as of January 09, 2020. I didn't get to have my surgery until January 11, 2021 due to Covid and other medical issues... I'm sure a lot of people have had frustrations over that... I could've had it in July, but sadly, that didn't happen. Instead, I had my surgery January 11th, 2021 at which time I weighed in at 309. - I'm a 5'8 female, so I'm kinda tall... built more like my father than my mother... I don't have another appointment with my doctor until mid-April, but my family keeps freaking me out saying I'm losing weight too fast. I'm down t…

Hi everyone! I’ve been on this site a little bit. I am a former lapband patient who had it removed in October of 2019 in an emergency surgery. I decided to go with the sleeve after some weight regain after the removal of my band. I was originally scheduled for the sleeve February 19th then that was postponed the day prior for reasons I can get into if anyone would like to know. Then I had a date of March 19th and again rescheduled. So now I am scheduled for April 16th. I’m so excited, scared and nervous and that’s been going on constantly for months with all the rescheduling. Anyone else having the sleeve in April?! I’m excited to be on this journey with everyone and alwa…

I had my sleeve surgery 4.5 years ago and did well, all things considered. I lost weight as expected, and have been quite happy about my decision- until recently. About 6 month ago, I started having overwhelming acid indigestion after eating. It's hard to describe; it's like I would breathe out acid fumes, it was so bad. It also didn't happen immediately after eating- but about an hour later, it was awful. I also started waking up at night with my throat full of acid. I mean, this was HOURS after I'd finished dinner. I can't pinpoint what causes it; it happens irregularly, no matter what I've eaten. Heck, it'll happen when I drink water sometimes. Now, in addition to this…

At the risk of sounding awful, I'm just going to say, I've ALWAYS hated sharing food! In fact I generally will buy extra snacks so that no one asks me for mine. And when they do anyway, I scream nasty things to them in my head but smile and share anyway. The thing is, I've always been a pretty slow eater. People think that means I don't want my food but I do! For example, I can make popcorn last the entire movie because I eat them one at a time. My boyfriend eats popcorn by the handful and is done by the opening credits. When we share, I've had 10 bites and he has eaten the entire bag! Thus, I get my own popcorn or pretzel bites but then I come off looking selfish or…

I'm just needing some advice because I know there is vast experience in this group. I had VSG on 1/5/21. The morning of surgery, I was 214 lbs. Post-surgery, I was up a few days due to fluids. My recovery was amazing! No issues or pain at all. I have followed my doctor's protocol to a T but my loss seems so slow. My current weight is 198, so a 16-pound loss in two months and 10 days. The doctor's expectation is for me to be 193 by my visit on 3/26/21. I was given clearance to work out, so I have been slowly getting back to strength training; but even before that, the loss has been a slow, sometimes up a little, then down. Any and all suggestions/comments …

Hello friends. My name is Mark, 35 years old and am two weeks out from surgery. I’m really at peace with my decision to get WLS. I know it’s going to suck for a while but it will hopefully all be worth it. I’m not nervous about the procedure or what’s going to happen after I’m truly nervous because I’ve never been “skinny” or even remotely close. I was always the chubby kid ever since I can remember. I was the fat friend. Now, I’m two weeks out and know that if all goes well, I’ll be healthy. Anyone else have this same fear/anxiety? If so how do you cope with that and everyone now complementing you for your weight. Thanks all! Mark

Surgery was March 3rd. I am on full liquid diet until the 19th. I have barely had any energy at all. I don't feel like the weight is dropping like it should. I feel it, but I don't see it like other's say they do. I do not feel like I am physically doing enough. Is there something else I should be doing at this point. Advice and Experiences please??

So I have been in this situation before where I have decided that I do want the surgery then backed out. So I have been for a consultation this past Monday. I am 5'10", 220lbs so my bmi is 32ish. I take medicine for diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I would have to be self pay even with the comorbidities. Its $10,000 @ Alabama Weight Loss which is near where I live. I have been reading where some people dont feel the restriction after surgery and its easy to eat anything. Should I save the 10 grand and maybe try the preop diet to jump start weight loss then do a high protein low to zero carb diet? So on the fence about this. I was sure my mind was made u…

I am 18 days post op from gastric sleeve surgery recovering nicely. However, after taking my multivitamin last night, my left shoulder suddenly started hurting. It has hurt all night. Hello everyone, I am now 5 days post op. Thankfully, I have not had any complications and am able to drink liquids with no issues so far. I have been giving things a lot of thoughts and although all is going well now, I fear of complications in the long term. It seems from posts I read on FB groups that almost everyone will have a revision surgery due to acid reflux. I've also read of other complications such as leaks years post op or stomach blockages. I did my research before surgery, but now that I actually went ahead and had surgery, I feel like I'm gonna be on edge knowing that something bad due to VSG can happen down the line. Anyone here years post op with no …

I know that if I have the sleeve done I will be on a lifelong diet but one of my concerns is that I don't cook. I don't plan on it so wondering if I will be successful because I do eat all of my meals at restaurants, fast casual, or fast food. I obviously know I will need to make much healthier choices. Any advice? Not looking for advice on why I should cook because I am single and just don't enjoy cooking. I am also concerned about knowing what the correct portion size is because I know you typically can't eat but 1/2 cup to 1 cup of food and obviously you can't take a measuring cup with you to a restaurant.

Today one of my students commented on stomach sounds! I teach remotely! Lol. I thought I talked too much but my stomach is out of control now. I don't know why it needs to make so much noise all of the time! It happens when I eat, drink or breathe! Anyone else have a choir in their tummy? And how long does this last? I'm a month out this week.
