I know that I am not the typical bariatric patient. I did not weigh over 250 lbs.
I had to have surgery because of my diabetes. It was very bad. I also had to use a C-Pap machine to breathe while sleeping.
I also had to walk with a cane, and if traveled, had to be in a wheelchair due to immobility. I have very bad neuropathy in my feet, even after surgery.
I have fibro, chrons, asthma, allergies, and Hashimoto Disease.
Approx. 3 months post op I was no longer diabetic, and no longer have to use the C-Pap machine. I still have the above ailments. My fibro has improved a lot. The others...not so much. I am on a decreased dose of meds for my Hashimoto's. I had nodules before surgery, and no longer have them.
I lost 40 lbs. in the 1st month after surgery due to being so sick & nauseous, I could not even drink water. I could not eat, or take vitamins, or supplements, etc. It was so bad that I became dehydrated, and had to go to the hospital for IV's. I had to get a script for a nausea patch to put behind my ear. It only helped me a little bit.
As the 2nd month came around, I was able to only eat Cream of Wheat, and drink very little water. Finally after the 3rd month, and more I was doing a lot better.
I thought I would never get over that awful 1st month. It was really bad.
Now I am 6 months post op, and doing so much better. I am concerned because I can not stop losing weight. I am almost at my goal of 135 lbs. No matter what I do I can not stop losing. I started eating a little bit of carbs, but I noticed I get very full too quick.
Thank You for reading my story. I welcome any questions or advice.
