Hey guys, I’m 4 weeks post op as of today. Since surgery I’ve only lost 9 lbs. I lost more during my 2 wk pre-op diet. Which I lost 13lbs. Is something wrong?

  2. Started by rachelblank1,

Hi all, I'm new here. My name is Rachel and I'm 34. I had my sleeve done 12/23. I also had a hernia repair as well. I feel very blessed that I have not had any nausea or any other major side effects. Haven't had a lot of pain at all surprisingly. My main struggles have been gas pains, burping, and a very strong tightening sensation when I swallow. I have been very tired since the surgery and find myself having to take naps during the day. Something I am not used too. But anyway just wanted to introduce myself! HW 227 SW 213 12/23/2020 CW 207 12/28/2020

I had my surgery 8/2017. I started at 236 I got down to 157. I had a baby 11/24/2019 :) ❤️ but I am really struggling to get back to my before baby weight. I feel so just sad that I can’t get back to the 157.

  4. I am a Retired Army Medic. I still have Tricare and my provider & I decided that the Gastric Sleeve would be a good tool for me. She referred me and my 1st appointment with the special clinic at the Military Tmt Facility is on 04 Jan 2021. I am excited, but yet nervous about all the unknows. I have no idea what the process will entail as it is at the MTF. I do know that unknowingly I have already completed a lot of the pre requirements for surgery looking for answers to medical conditions I am already dealing with.

  5. I had surgery but i am 3weeks out but noticed my portion sizes have increased and i find little restriction? Anyone else inthe same boat and if so are you able to eat how u used to before? I mean i wish i researched properly before going ahead with this i already feel like i have failed.

  6. Started by Boymama,

I have a BMI of 32. I have called a few places in my state (Utah) and they all say I need to have a BMI of 35 or higher. I know that I will have to pay out of pocket, but I am having a hard time finding somewhere that will do the surgery for a sleeve with BMI 32. Where have you had your surgeries?

  7. Started by RussT,

I had my Gastric Sleeve in November 2016. Starting weight 485 lbs. Current weight 220 lbs. To say it changed my life would be an understatement. If you are on the fence about having this surgery, take my word for it. It works!

  8. Started by ANewJourneyAwaits,

So I had my VSG on the 24th. Since then I am feeling rough. I felt better this morning but after that, I started feeling crappy. My incisions hurt (they sent me home with no pain meds!) and the gas pain is still unreal. I’m up and walking almost every hour that I am awake but I’m quite exhausted a lot. Also my face and chest turned red but was told this is a sleeve blush. It can happen from healing or having a reaction to the Anesthesia. I’m trying to get down all my water but it’s rough. I’m definitely in the “what did I do phase.” Kind of feel like crying. Sigh. I know I’ll get over this but right now I just feel weak and in pain.

Hi all. Hope you all had a great Christmas. I'm aware that this thread might come across in the wrong way given some people's experiences/troubles. I truly don't mean it to, I suffer from anxiety bouts & think the holiday season has triggered one. I was worried initially I was 'losing too fast but this forum reassured me that all was normal & to chill. (Not much support in UK for private aka self funding patients) I had surgery on the 19th October & have lost 0.8 lbs a day since (averaged out). I haven't had a stall like most people describe, 2-3 days max but pre menstruation. I know everyone & every body is different, my surgeon was surprised when I …

Hi everyone, I am scheduled to get my sleeve gastrectomy in the next couple of months. An exciting time for sure! I am in my mid-20's and have a BMI of about 32-33. I was wondering if because I had a lower BMI, would I be less prone to excess skin as I lose weight? Or is it that I will be losing weight so rapidly that is it bound to happen even if I am on the lower BMI spectrum for the surgery? I was hoping that someone could shed some light! Perhaps someone who was around my BMI and had the sleeve performed and what effect the surgery had on their skin! (I know exercise can help the appearance of excess skin as you build muscle underneath so working …

  11. Hi! I’m scheduled to have sleeve surgery on 12/29, & I’m having serious 2nd thoughts! Has anyone who has had sleeve surgery regretted it? How long until you can eat “regular” food? Was the 7 days of liquid diet terrible? I have clear, unflavored protein powder - what do I mix it with to make a protein shake? is it worth it in the end? Your responses will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

  12. Started by ANewJourneyAwaits,

So, when I started this journey, I knew I may have GERD because I had it mildly before. Now it has seemingly come Back. I asked the nurses about this and they said it was normal the first couple of days out. It still makes me nervous. Also I am coughing occasionally with phlegm. My throat is somewhat scratchy due to the tube. Had anyone else had either of these two? Thanks!

Hi! On here looking to see if anyone else is getting VSG on or around my date. My date is 1/13/2021. I would love to be in contact to discuss, support and cheer each other on!

  14. I’ve lost 21 lbs post op and I am very happy about that but I feel like I should be losing more. For the past month weight loss is every other week. I know that losing slow can be better for saggy skin and I also know that I don’t exercise enough, but I feel like I’m failing. I’m so afraid that I will stop losing and become a failed surgery. I follow the eating plan and fluid/protein intake requirements....maybe I’m just overthinking.

  16. Hey lovely people! I hope you all are having a lovely December and staying as corona free as possible! After years and years of struggling with my weight and being labelled as FAT since I was 5 years old, I decided to go for the Gastric Sleeve Surgery! I am now 26 years old and married but the insults from other people and family never stopped. I was always on diets even as a child and played sports so was pretty active, but then at 15 years old I found out I have PCOS and that completely shattered my soul. The weight kept piling on despite dieting and relationships became difficult. When I met my now husband for the first time,I decided to let him know about my PCOS an…

I’ve been using phenegren and Zoltan, as well as a scoplaomine patch (probably spelled that wrong). I still cannot keep anything down. and the viscous cycle just repeats because then my stomach hurts so bad. ?? I’ve had several surgeries and 2 c sections and this is worse! I haven’t even drank anything but a sip of water here and there since my surgery yesterday. Tell me I’m not alone, or crazy. I hope it gets better soon.

  20. So I’m barely three weeks out and hit a stall as early as the second week.... I only lost like 6 lbs the first week and one pound the second week... gained a pound mid third week and then lost it.... but that’s it! I think my surgeon didn’t calibrate me properly... I asked for maximum restriction (bougie 32) and he said that was too much for me... he said he would probably do a 36... I’m concerned it’s not enough restriction I can eat almost normal so I must exercise a lot of willpower... I feel so frustrated and defeated... I feel like this is just another hard diet to do and I’m right back at the same place like when I would diet, stall, binge and on and on we go.... I …

  21. I am having the biggest problem getting the motivation to exercise. I have no energy to do so. I am 3 weeks post op and have only lost 12 lbs. I feel defective and like the surgery may not work as well on me. I also get cravings like crazy on some days. Idk, I really hope I turn things around.

I am getting sleeved Oct 26 at Blossom in Vegas. Since quarantine and homeschooling my son I have become quite sedentary. I am concerned about the treadmill stress test before the surgery. Is it an easy stroll or a death march? Thank you.

Hi. I'm 5 weeks post wls now. I feel really hungry all the time. No matter how much water I drink. I won't say I can eat alot at one but I'm always hungry after few hours. Try to keep it to 3 meals and 2 snacks maximum. I'm afraid I am stretching my pouch already and will never loose weight. Anyone else had the same problem? Plus what about carbs? Do they make you more hungry?

Well I am officially 7 days post-op. I took a big hit from the anesthesia. Took me all night Monday and all day Tuesday before I could focus or feel like I wasn’t going to fall asleep the second I relaxed. The day after I got home from surgery the doctors office called and when I mentioned I struggled with anesthesia she said. “Yeah I heard.” LOL And the pills. I was taking a ton of pills. Felt like I ate more pills in those two days then I had eaten anything since my pre-op diet started. Reflux hit as well as gas pains and it was rough so I stayed an extra night. I am doing well now. Managing pain with Tylenol and trying to get up to my 64 oz of water and 60g of protein…

Anyone else suffering from anxiety who has recently had sleeve surgery? It has been hard. Not that I've had any major issues (please god) but I'm fixated on any new symptoms and wake up with a feeling of "oh god, how I am going to feel TODAY?" I'm on anti depressants and have a great surgical team who put up with my constant questions but having health anxiety and dealing with the aftermath of an operation is no fun. Every tiny new sensation opens up a massive pit of worry. I wish I could be more positive and stop focusing so much on how I physically feel. I guess I'm just feeling sorry for myself. And maybe hormones (I'm due my period in around 10 days) The general anae…

  29. Long post alert!! SW 212-225 LW 164 CW 185 5’ 2” I was sleeved 10/2017. I lost weight well and fairly quickly. I wasn’t done yet. Then I didn’t follow the rules. I didn’t sit down to meals, I didn’t take my time, I didn’t chew my food- I started inhaling it again, then the slider foods. I’ve never been a really junk foodie but pastas, bread, chocolate, etc. I stopped drinking all the water. I stopped taking vitamins (Lost tons of good muscle mass). Never exercised. Hi all, Just thought I'd check in and see how everyone is going now that we are at, or coming up to our 3 month surgery anniversary. CONGRATULATIONS! How is everyone feeling? Anyone having any issues? I'm doing pretty well, coming up to 12 weeks next week and terrified of the dreaded 3 month stall!

  31. Started by MommaJay,

I've heard of the 3 week stall. But I stopped losing weight at 1 week. I lost 10lb during my 1 week pre op diet and 10 lb the week after my surgery. My surgery was 11/30. I haven't lost anything since 12/7. I use a Bariatric app to track all my food/water/vitamins. My calories have gone up over the past 2 weeks (as expected) from around 300 to 600 and my carbs are higher than I would like (around 35 avg), but I'm finding soft foods are limited. I am not meeting my water goals of 64 oz. I'm getting about 30 oz. If I do too much moving around, my incision sites get really sore so I have not started walking but I do a lot house work and go into my office a couple days a week…

Each time I try to slow it down im super thirsty. I'm not really fond of the sugar free jello ( I've thrown it up twice). Any suggestions to help the nausea? Any tips for post op I should know aswell?

How is everyone doing? Feel free to share any problems, suggestions, recipes that helped you get your Protein in, and any other advice you'd like to share. Ask questions, if you have them. I have been overweight for 35 years. I steadily put on 2-3 pounds a year for 35 years. I have been on every kind of diet you can imagine. I had lapband surgery about 15 years ago and that ended up being a failure as I could not swallow at night. I gained all my weight back and then some within no time, I am having the lapband removed and gastric sleeve on 12/16/20. I am excited about the future and ready to start this journey! I need some support pals that are going thru the same life change. Lets Roll!

Hi all, had VSG yesterday and in the hospital as we speak! Just talked to Dr’s and they said I should be able to go hone this morning...YAY ME!! Some suggestions for folks going into surgery any time soon. 1. The gas lifesaver was a heating pad (get a pretty bug one to cover you entire abdomen). I has a hysterectomy 5 years ago and about died from gas pains. I still have the gas pains with this surgery but not NEARLY as bad with the heating pad. 2. Get biotin/boitene (not sure exactly how it’s spelt) mouth spray. You’re mouth will be very very very dry after surgery and you may not be allowed water immediately after but even if Can’t have water you can’t g…

I see all these companies that premake meals and send them out weekly. has anyone found one that's good for weightloss and bariatric? I'm so off track and have been doing this all on my own since the day I had the surgery. I had the WORST weight loss center in history. I had complications with dehydration and they told me that I would hurt their Center of Excellence score if they found out so they just stopped helping me a week after my surgery.

Holy Moly my husband and I are traveling this week and I brought most of my own food. I needed to take my meds this morning and grabbed his orange juice to take them with...... I am pretty sure that is what HELL feels like!! Within minutes I was gagging and throwing up (sorry for the graphics here) and I felt like I drank 10 too many screwdrivers!!!!! when I got in control of my gagging I made a cup of the good old chicken bone broth and sipped it slowly and in about 30 minutes I was good to go. moral of this story: Betty can’t drink OJ!

At what point in your VSG journey did you reach your lowest weight and at what point or what weight did you start to maintaining? My biggest fear is gaining weight I am 11 months postop on the 23rd of this month and I went from 243 to 127 current weight I’ve been slipping up usually on Fridays and on weekends... eating things like breads and going over calories .....I’m not gonna lie sometimes I don’t have the best things to eat but most of the time during the week I do follow my diet does anybody else feel like this? Like even the slightest slip up will bring you back to your old weight? I want to maintain a 120 weight but is this even possible? Ahh help.

I keep thinking, this will be my "last" dessert or thanksgiving meal or pasta but I know that's not true, it will probably just take some time to balance those things back in and in moderation. Thanks for the support ! -Gina

Hey y’all, I was just curious if belly wraps were okay. I am about a week post op and I feel like every time I get up or walk my stomach is going to fall out my bellybutton. I had a sleeve and I still feel a lot of abdominal discomfort. I can’t lay on my side. I have to sleep on my back. How long did y’all have have abdominal pain? And did the belly wrap help? I search it up on google and it said the pain may be caused by leakage from the stomach, I just scared myself. So did anyone else have the same experience?

I am devastated. I went through everything and my surgery was scheduled for tomorrow (12/14) only to have my hospital call and say I’m canceled due to Covid. They said all non emergency surgeries are canceled... I did the liquid diet and invested so much money, effort and tears only to be cut off before the finish line. I really am feeling depressed...

  49. So who else has been delayed because of the increase in Covid case?? Really wish people would just stay home or wear a mask. I know this sounds selfish but I am really bummed. My surgery was scheduled for Nov 23. But here I sit still waiting and it could be another 4 weeks because of people going visiting for Christmas. I know that the hospital is the last place a healthy person should be but I have worked so hard to meet the qualifications and 3 days before surgery I was cancelled. This sucks.
