Hi I’m exactly a week post Op. Doing pretty good except I really dislike protein shakes which leaves me with not too many options. Two things concerning me right now is that a) I got tiny little red pimples All over the upper part of my stomach. b) I also keep having an intense pain (feels like it’s my stomach) it comes strong, last 2 seconds and then subsides. This pain comes and goes especially while eating!

How are the September Sleevers out there doing? I had mine on 9/28/2020 and am down 28lbs. I still have pain with every bite or drink I take and am still drinking a lot of protein shakes. One day at a time....

Okay I finally received my coverage booklet and I do not see Bariatric services under Excluded and Exemptions. So I am assuming that Bariatric Surgery is covered. They only have two things you need to qualify: BMI 40 and take part in nutrition program. I am so excited can’t wait until my first meeting with the Dr. on Jan.21, 2021. I pray everything goes smoothly.

Today is week 5... Some days I feel the restrictions while eating and other times I don't feel anything, but I stop at my portion size. Is that normal? It makes me wonder if something is wrong. Also. I haven't had any trouble eating soft veggies and such. I am getting liquids in quickly, but not too fast without trouble. What I am getting to is this... I seem to be doing ok, but is something wrong for me to be doing good and for tolerating things that others might not? TIA

Hi all, I had my surgery 21st October in Osaka, Japan - I have noticed a few differences (food being the HUGE one XD) and I'd like to hear what your post-op looks like. Here's a translated version of my post-op form: I also had/have the pleasure of "practicing" with this guy everyday, pre and post. My diet (Stage 1) is similar - 1000ml of straight Water, balancing to 2000ml, but the basics are tea (tea is seen as helpful as water here), broth (any kind), miso Soup but just the broth and omoyu (重湯), a kind of thin gruel made from rice (lovingly called rice pee here). All 100mls each, with 100% non-citrus fruit juice and a protein power pack. …

Hey everyone...I had my sleeve back in October 2016. My starting weight was 278 and within 2 years I went down to 152lbs. I was sooo proud of myself, worked out everyday, ate great, etc. Since then I had a baby in October 2019 and I know I've gained weight to where I'm at least 200lbs. I'm so nervous to get on the scale because I don't want to see that number...can anyone relate?? Today (10/26) I started the pouch reset. Has anyone done this before? Has it worked for you? It's already so hard for me. I've only had a protein shake and I have my 64oz bottle of water and I brought a couple popsicles (sugar free) for my lunch today. I'm already "dying" haha. Than…

Hello all: I'm 8 months out from Gastric Sleeve surgery. I have felt fine most of the time. Recently, (the past few weeks) I have felt like my stomach is protruding. I feel more comfortable if I wear something binding around my stomach area. Anyone else have this going on?

Hey all. I have a confession- I am 8 days post op and on the liquid diet. Yesterday and today my family had pepperoni pizza and I took a pepperoni off, chewed it up, then spit it in the trash. It’s like I just wanted the taste. Today I chewed up half a chicken nugget to get the taste or chicken then I spit it out. has anyone done this? I need to stop, I know. I am looking forward to the puree stage so I can have variety of tastes

I’m sorry for my scattered thoughts, currently doped up a tad bit! I know everyone’s experience is different, but I wanted to share my thoughts (especially for those that are worried about the surgery!) I have never had surgery prior to this VSG, and also suffer from pretty severe anxiety and was so so worried about getting an IV, pain, being nauseous, staying in the hospital alone, etc. I just wanted to share that my surgery went great!! I have minimal pain and nausea and feel pretty darn good. I’m so excited for this life changing opportunity. To those of you in the preop stages of wls, please don’t let anxiety or fears hold you back from changing your life!…

Hello everyone. Thank you for accepting me into the community. I am scheduled for surgery 11/2/2020. I am a single mother of a 2 year old hyper boy. I will only be able to have help for the first week max. So if anyone has any tips that could help? I will still have to get him in and out of our car. Still have to pick him up at random. Does anyone think an abdominal binder would help?

I wanna know if there a number of people to like it’s struggling with this diet thing. Oh now I’m chilling like less than before and that’s the other thing that I’m frustrated about it.

Hey guys I just had my gastric sleeve done on the 21/10 and I'm able to walk around, go toilet, etc. I barely had any pain (around 2/10 max). The nurses say I need to drink at least 1 litre of water. They also gave me some soup and yoghurt, which was fine for me to eat. However it only hurts when I'm drinking water. I can keep it down but there's just slight pain. Has anyone else experienced this? Also, can anyone give me any tips/advice on what to expect when I go home? Thanks

Has this happened to anyone? I have been fine and be able to eat just about anything. I’m still eating healthy food and not a lot. I’m only able to handle about 5 bites. Starting this past Saturday if I take a bite of ANYTHING I get super nauseous and feel the urge to vomit. And then on Monday I had not eaten or drank anything recently but randomly got super sick to my stomach and wanted to throw up. Even water gets me sick. I feel fine otherwise. No fever no other symptoms. I’m not eating heavy foods, I’m eating the same healthy food like I have been. Nothing has changed.

Boy do I feel guilty. I've been so good for 4 months and stayed on program... until today! I offered to make Halloween cut out cookies with my 3.5 year old granddaughter. We had a great time, but I ended up eating 3 large ones, which snowballed into left over pizza. ugh.... I have learned my lesson, NO cookies or pizza in the house at all and I will get back on track tomorrow, but I wonder how I could lose control so easily.

Hello. I had the gastric sleeve in 2014. I started having severe acid reflux to the point I was waking up choking in my sleep. Found out my stomach was twisted. I had the gastric bypass Nov 2019 to correct the problem. After a few months I couldn't keep any food down and found out I had a stricture. Tried the endoscopy to try to open it up but the scar tissue was too bad. Having surgery tomorrow to see if he can remove the scar tissue. If not, then he will have to reroute my intestines to another part of my stomach. I'm so disappointed in all that has happened and scared because of all the surgery being done to my stomach. I keep having this nightmare of walking around…

I love blending frozen mangos and strawberries with greek yogurt the problem is it gives me sugar spike and makes me hungry. What other alternatives can use that doesn't have as many sugars. I don't like the texture of yogurt so it needs to be something frozen and with flavor

I had a gastric sleeve a little over 3 years ago. Had a pretty bad local allergic reaction to the steri strips used to cover incisions. Took a week of prednisone and got better. Shortly thereafter, I broke out in horrible itchy hives. Was tested for every allergy and disease possible and everything was negative. Had to go on biologics/ immunosuppressants and am still on them to this day. My theory is that I’m allergic to the metal staples they use to close the stomach pouch after the gastrectomy. Anyone else dealing with this or have an opinion on my theory?

I am 3 weeks post op. I wore jeans for the 1st time Friday. My stomach started getting sore. It is really sore today especially when I lay on my side. I also had a herina repair on my right side of my stomach during surgery. When I am on my back, I don't have any pain. Any suggestions?

And absolutely frigging starving. I've not eaten in five days. I'm not getting down as much of the protein shakes as I'm supposed to because they're gagging me and I can't get them down. I'm so hungry. I'm tempted to find something to eat but really trying to be strong. This sucks. I have 8 days to go. #miserable

Hello , just found this site and wanted to say hi . Is there many on here from the UK ? Any area of the forum I should be in ? I'm due to have surgery on 27th October ( fingers crossed ) by the NHS. I'm on the liver shrinkage diet now and wondered if I'm only getting 500 to 600 cal a day, would that be an issue ? My nurse advised a 600 cal diet but when the booklet came it said 800 and online it seems to be more 800 and over Kind regards Hayley x

Hello all! I have made the decision to undergo WLS (sleeve) and will be formally beginning "the process" today, when I meet with my to-be surgeon for the first time. To my understanding, everyone's process is different, based on their insurance and/or payment schedule. As of right now, I had to partake in a virtual seminar held by my chosen bariatric doctor. I will be meeting with him in person. Afterwards, nutritionist and psych appointments will be made. Can anyone and everyone, able and willing to, give me a description of what their process looked like so I have an idea of what to look forward to? Thank you! (AND I apologize if a thread like thi…

Today is day 2 of my 2 week pre-op liquid diet. I'm to have four shakes per day. To be honest, I'm friggin hungry. And I'm consumed with thoughts of food. My surgery is on 10/26. I figured this would be the hardest part, but man it sucks. Anyone else out there?

I could really do with some advice. I had gastric sleeve done April 2019. In 6 months I lost 6 stone (84 pounds) I was pleased with this as I had 3/4 stone left to lose. I started a medication around 6 months post op and it caused me to stop losing weight, fast forward a few months and I had gained two stone in a month due to my medication so I had to stop it. Ever since I’ve struggled hugely to lose weight I eat about 1,000-1200 calories a day and my restriction is still there. I’ve had no support from bariatric team or dietician, I need some advice on what I should eat, how many calories I should be having and how much exercise I should be doing. I don’t think I’m doin…

My sleeve surgery was yesterday and I’m still in the hospital. When my surgeon stopped by she said while they were operating they found a lesion on my liver. Now I need an MRI so they can classify it as malignant or benign. They said I should heal from sherry before I get the MRI... I’m so worried and waiting will be so hard.

I had the vertical gastric sleeve about 3 months ago and I STILL have not noticed an increase in energy levels. About 4 weeks post-op after I started feeling somewhat normal I was able to get in a few 30min walks a day, but then my energy just went away after that. I'm sure its a mixture of COVID (not working) and my body adjusting but I thought with a 50lb weight loss that I would feel way more energetic than I do. Any others have issues like this post-op?

Putting the Telogen Effluvium hair loss research I used in a thread for the interested. Started researching this after a visit to my dermatologist confirmed, biotin and minoxidil would not help much. I believe I started taking LLysine as soon as I was allowed to swallow pills post op. I experienced very very minimal hair loss (slight thinning of edges) My hair is back to normal now 1yr post op (Noteworthy info: I practiced low manipulation of my hair for months (ballerina bun), my iron ferritin and other vitamins and minerals were perfect during this time because I received iv infusions and oral supplementation, protein was around 45g daily when I started …

Hello! June 12th made two years post-op gastric sleeve for me. I've been doing well, a few road blocks here and there but nothing I couldn't over come. In May I tried to do a ten day pouch reset but I only made it to day six before I got sick and had to stop. Nausea, fatigue, etc. I thought it was because I wasn't eating as much as I usually do, just liquids and such, because I would feel better after I ate something. But then in July, it hit me again. Nausea, fatigue, headache, dizzy, brain fog, LOA, etc. It lingered for a little over a month and a half and then just went away. The doc said it was my thyroid because all of my blood draws came back good, tests were normal…

Hey all!! I have my vsg scheduled for Nov 6. I feel like I need to be preparing, but I have no idea what to prepare for. I am flying to San Diego on the 6th and having surgery the same day in Tijuana at Hospital BC. I am so nervous and excited! I could use any advice you have. What to bring, what to prepare at home before I leave, anything! My Dr put me on a 3 day liquid diet. What did you all drink during that time? What did you love to eat afterwards? What should I buy now to stock up for after surgery? Please help!

Hello, I am scheduled for surgery on 23 of November and am having doubts. My primary concerns are: 1. I enjoy high-end and experimental food and serious dining as a pastime. It is one of my only social outlets which will majorly change post-op. I don't drink, gamble, smoke, etc. 2. I have never been overweight until 7 years ago and am now 70lbs overweight. Is this a foolish way to go? Could I just bit the bullet and do this myself or am I too far gone? 3. I am addicted to sugar. Does this surgery really help that? I've enjoyed reading your comments and hope you have some for me!!!! Andrew
