Hello, I’m having bad pain 2 days after surgery. Has anyone else experienced this? How long did it last if so? I feel as if I have broken ribs. The pain is worse today than yesterday.

It's probably gas. Walk, walk, walk it off.

The first few days are the hardest. It will start to get better soon. Just keep walking and sipping.

I'm a week out today. I have very little soreness at this point. Most of the pain I experienced days after surgery was because I was taking too big of sips. It's taken me a while to figure out my new sip size!! Walking has definitely helped me. I started back to work on Monday and I try to make a quick walk through our building every hour. Good luck!!

Are the pain meds prescribed by your surgeon managing the pain? If not, ring his team.

We all experience pain differently. Unfortunately some suffer for longer while others experience less pain for a shorter period of time. I was fortunate, I put aside the opioid I was prescribed on day 4. Took an over the counter pain med on day 5 which I didn’t really need then nothing.

Remember, you’ve had a big chunk of your stomach removed, so pain is to be expected but it should be able to be managed by the medication prescribed you.

Good luck.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
