Hi,I am new here. Getting my surgery on 4/25. Anyone in the preop diet? I’m on shakes and clear liquids. Any ideas of what liquids you taking that are good? I am really not hungry just get tired of chicken and beef broth. Having occasional dizziness. I really dislike the liquid protein I tried. Look forward to hearing your stories.

Hello everyone! I had the gastric sleeve done in 2016. I lost a total of 140 lbs. I hit a stall and managed to keep myself at that amount. Fast forward to 2020. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Hashimotos Thyroiditis, and had to have my thyroid removed due to large nodules. With all that occurring and being prescribed new meds I started to gain the weight back. As of today I have gained most of the weight back-120 lbs. I am wanting to get back on track and try to lose it back and then some. Any tips or recommendations? Is it even possible to lose all of it back?

I had my surgery Feb. 28, so it's almost been two months. A week after surgery my weight was 212 and i have barely moved since. At first, I thought I was holding weight because I hadn't had a regular bowel movement. Nope, not the problem. Then I thought it was because I started eating too heavy too soon; which was definitely part of the case because I had gained four pounds, almost five pounds back. But then I got back on track and lost the five pounds, plus two extra. But since then, for about the past two, almost three weeks, my weight has been sitting between 209 and 211. I've stayed on track and have been sticking to low carb, high protein meals. Any snacks I have ar…

Hello. I had my sleeve surgery on 3/27. My incisions have healed well, but I am still experiencing really bad burning and pulling pain when bending, reaching, etc. I can't lay on my right side and laying on my left side is sometimes uncomfortable. Bending over is a no go. It's incredibly painful. So, anyone have a similar experience? I'm kind of worried something is messed up with my internal sutures. My doctor said they take 2 to 3 weeks to dissolve and here it is week 4.

Hey guys! I’ve been struggling again for a few months. And I was wondering if you could share some tips or inspirations to help me get my mind right. I still don’t get real hungry but my job has become real boring and desk centric so I find myself wanting little things to snack on. I keep healthy choices nearby or I just drink water but I can’t seem to get back on the losing side of life. I’ve been tracking my intake and some days I wonder if I’m taking in enough calories even if I’m hitting my protein and keeping my fats and carbs to a minimum. I have about 60 left to lose and I’m almost at my one year anniversary.

Hello, My starting weight was 250 and current weight is 124. I'm new to the forum. I want to remain anonymous at this point and I didn't want to post in facebook. I had my gastric sleeve done in May of 2022, I've lost a total of 125 pounds. The thing I didn't think about was how my self esteem has not changed. I was thinner in my late teens and 20's, but gained weight after having 5 children. I am now in my late 40's, I don't really regret the choice I made about the surgery. The thing I didn't prepare myself for mentally is the depression factor, I had depression prior to surgery and had been on med's. After my surgery I am still on meds, but I feel like thing…

I’m in week 4 and it’s still difficult to drink all the water I need a day. Also I haven’t been able to drink the protein because I know I will not be able to drink it all. Anyone have any tips as to what y’all do to keep up? I have my water bottle with me all day and I take sips throughout the day but It’s hard to drink it all still.

I got my surgery in October 2022 and the hair loss is so noticeable now. I’ve been taking my supplements and it won’t stop. Every time I take a shower a whole bunch of hair is lost. I’m at a point where I don’t want to wash my hair anymore. I know it won’t stop it but it’s just so sad. Will the hair grow back or once it’s gone it’s gone?

All my first initial appts have been via zoom they record my weight at 222 and today I went to my dietician appt. She weighed me and usually I’m like 221-220. Today I was 219.8. Which lowered my bmi to 39.9 but I know Tomorrow I’m going to wake up 220-221 again. What can I do ? I don’t want to unqualify because of it. I have another appt tomorrow with my primary for my EKG. Will they consider that weight too ? My weight today kept fluctuating between 220-219 she just chose the lowest weight. What do you guys think ?

I am about 9 months post op. I have lost close to 200 lbs. I took a very long break from work and have taken a job with much physical labor. I am beyond sore and care barely walk after about 10 hours of my shift . So bad that I walk like I’m about 100 years old. I didn’t have this pain when I was bigger. It’s been over 2 months at this new job and my body doesn’t seem to be feeling better with this. Any tips? What is happening?

Hi Guys, Just curious on how people may have handled a weight stall? I'm five and half weeks post op, down 11kgs since surgery and i've not moved on the scales in the past week. I have gone back to work (retail) and have moved onto the minced/slow cooked foods part of my diet so i'm hoping this maybe playing a part it's just playing on my mind a bit. Has anyone got any tips to help getting refocused at all

I'm almost 2 years op post VGS. I had lost a total of 80lbs but in the last few months I have managed to gain 30lbs. I've gotten back into my old habits and I feel like a complete loser. I don't know where to go from here. I want to reach out to my doctor to help me get back on track but again I feel like I've failed and I'm embarassed. Does anyone have any advice on how to get back on track? Any help is appreciated.

I am 7 weeks post op and only lost 25 pounds. I haven’t lost a single pound in over 2 weeks. Has anyone else gone through this and then still continued to lose weight? I thought for sure by 8 weeks I would be down 35-40lbs. I am nervous about not losing anymore weight.

I am 8 years out from my gastric sleeve. I have gained 35 pounds. I need to get this off! My lowest weight after surgery was 155. Now I’m 190. It’s gotta go. I am retired now so I’m not as active as when I was working. I have back issues and can’t do a lot of exercising. I have been going to line dancing 1 day a week and I can tolerate that pretty well. Give me some tips how to jump start my weight loss again!

Hi, I had VSG on 2/1/23. I'm down 27 pounds so far since then. I've had a stall of about 4 weeks. But back to losing. Prior to surgery when I started this process I changed my eating habits. It was 19 months from beginning to surgery. Anyway, I lost 52 lbs during that period so I'm down 79 pounds so far. I just thought I'd lose it quicker at first after surgery. I started out at 347, down to 266. I'm pleased with where this is going but thought it would be more, anybody share their 2 month loss? Thanks [emoji4]

Hi all, new here. Well, of course I've lurked here at times over the years but ran away every time.. A little bit about me, been heavy most of my adult life, managed to live fine keeping most side effects at bay. Sleep apnea, use a machine, HBP under control with meds. No diabetes or other issues. Three years ago I hit my highest at 450 and as covid got rolling I started to exercise a bit more and watch diet a bit better. Then all the wheels started to fall off lol. Knees giving me some problems which then led me to find out I was bone on bone for both knees. So I continued to get better on the diet and switched to biking and rowing. Phentermine/Topiromate helpe…

Hi. I had VSG on 3/27. I weighed 335 at my first doctor visit and lost 19 pounds presurgery. Anyways, I have been reading on here and I'm worried that my doctor should have recommended bypass vs. sleeve since I have so much weight to lose. He set my goal at 170. That's nearly 150 pounds. I haven't found anyone in here that has lost that much with sleeve. Am I worrying needlessly?

Hi everybody. Just had VGS surgery last Monday (Happy Spring). Started my initial bariatric journey at 241 and when I got to the hospital i was 229. Down 14 pounds this morning and seeing my surgeon tomorrow for the post-op appointment. I've been able to tolerate all clear and thicker liquids thus far and looking forward to purees next week. Right now it seems I can only hold 4 to 4.5 oz at a time but water and clear protein supplements I'm able to drink 32 oz. in 3.5 hours. Is that ok? Will I not be able to hold 4 oz of pureed foods?

So I did it, I got to onederland, a place I dreamt of but did not ever believe I would attain. I thought loosing 100lbs was a reach but I ran through that. I was on a super high until I wanted to change my next goal weight. The BMI doodah says that I am still in the obese range, damn. 150 to 180lbs is still classed as overweight, do I really need to get another 49 lbs off my already skinny bod to be in the 'normal' range ? What are your thoughts on a new goal weight ?

Hi all! I'm scheduled for VSG June 3 at Pompeii Surgical Center in Tijuana. This comes after years of fighting with Kaiser. My highest weight was 330...I'm 5'5". I just did my labs to get my A1C levels. They have to be below 7. (Current 6.5) Next I have to quit smoking. Which has been challenging. But I can't have nicotine or THC 30 days prior. So I'm trying to quit now. I struggle with vitamins they taste yucky to me...but each day has gotten better. I'm on barimelt but would be willing to try better tasting ones. I'm looking for "friends" who have walked this road.

I am am self-pay, but going locally to JourneyLite. I was so close to pulling the trigger on Mexico, but I must admit that even though this is more expensive, I do not have to deal with travel, and am pretty close to the hospital. JourneyLite was definitely cheaper than the local hospitals' costs around here! By about 5k to 10k! Even though I likely do not need it, BlissCARE is available at JourneyLite. Since my insurance doesn't cover ANY weight loss surgeries or drugs, I need the peace of mind that comes with having complications insurance. My pre-op diet consists of 1 week of foods I had to buy from JourneyLite--at first I was outraged I had to buy their food…

Last night I got the foamies and was absolutely miserable for many hours. My body tried to vomit a few times and couldn't. I finally threw up a bit of water this morning and feel better finally. I have only had water today. I am kind of afraid to eat, to be honest. I never want that to happen again! Any advice for helping the foamies pass faster other than throwing up?

While en route to my pre op appointment, just before I get off the exit, I get a call from my surgeon's Nurse telling me we have to delay my surgery by 6 months, and there was no point in coming in. Not the news I wanted to hear, I said I was almost there. She said, well just come in & talk to the doctor. I have an auto immune disorder called Wegner's Granulomatosis and receive an infusion of an monoclonal antibody drug called rituximab twice a year, and apperently some doctors believe you should wait 6 months after an infusion to have surgery ---- but that's for knee replacements, not gastric sleeve. Long story short after talking to the doctor toda…

I was sleeved on Jan 31st, 2023 and I’m 8 weeks out. The diet plan my doctor has me on allows me to start eating chicken at 8 weeks (which I hit yesterday) but when I eat it, it always leaves me feeling not so great. I’ve had very small pieces in soups before the 8 weeks and that didn’t bother me at all. But now that it’s by itself, it’s giving me some discomfort. Has anyone else had a similar issue? And if so, has it gotten better with time?

So I had a lower BMI of I think 32 after pre-op but after the first week I have not lost anything. I am still on pureed foods right now. I am getting so upset because I saw on this low BMI site all these stories of people not losing except like 15 pounds. The only thing is I am handicapped so I don't walk much except to get around house or go shopping. Could this be problem? I just pray I didn't go thru all of this for 15 pounds, which by the way I haven't even lost yet. I have lost 10 pounds since surgery. I have no problems following diet to a tee or anything like that. Please help me!

Hello, I am new to these forums. In March of 2022, while in my rheumatologist's office for treatment for my autoimmune disorder, I was sent to the emergency room with what turned out to be a heart attack. On the day of my heart attack I was 44-years old, 5'11" 351 pounds with a blood pressure of 214/103. A couple days later I had my first visit with a cardiologist, who told me he believes I am a great candidate for bariatric surgey. I looked at him like he was crazy, "thats for people on 'My600-lb Life'" I thought. I didn't need that, besides 'men don't get this kind of surgery." A few months later after some thinking, searching for information…

I was sleeved 08/2017. It's been a constant struggle. I was told by the surgeon that I wasn't progressing as well compared to others. That my sleeve is bigger than he wanted & my metabolism is slow & I needed to work harder. I do have severe GERD but I have learned to work around that. I found out I have tachycardia. Also then & even worse now mobility issues. I couldn't vigorously exercise due to having grade 4 Osteoarthritis in my left knee. I stuck to the program & went from 323 to 223. I stalled & went into a deep depression. I wasn't losing unless I ate 800 calories or less. I gained all of my weight back due to decreased mobility & depression…
