Had my Hida Scan done this morning. 2 hours of lying on a table in a tube lol. ugh. but it wasnt that bad. Injected with the radioactive tracer waited an hour in the machine, then an IV of something to get your gall bladder to empty out and do its thing. The results got posted online before i could even arrive home lol but everything came back normal No issues at all. so thats good. No surgery needed.

Hey everyone! This is Ashley. I had surgery on October 6th and had to start my pre-op diet in the beginning of June of this year... My heaviest weight is 356 lb... The day of surgery I was at 313 lb... And as of today I am at 264 lb!!! I was so thinking excited when I hit the 90 lb mark of weight loss ! Can imagine what if you like once I lose 100 !!! My goal weight is about 180 lb. Some about 85 lb away from that goal I believe ... More than halfway there just from the pre-op diet and 2 of post-op!?! It took me a while to be more comfortable with trying new foods as I was terrified of throwing up or having dumping syndrome... I had the gastric sleeve and things have bee…

Hello, I just wanted to share my story. I was on a fb group through the weight center that did my surgery on 12/5 but they didn't let me share my story. I went in for my sleeve surgery but shortly after while in recovery my BP dropped really low, I started sweating badly and my skin/eyes turned gray. They gave me a blood transfusion which brought my BP back up. I was brought in for an emergency surgery because I was bleeding out. They said leaked 3 liters of blood and had multiple large dark blood clots in my stomach. I was bleeding and oozing through the staples so they double stitched me and cauterized some of the stomach. Since the 2 surgeries I have had very high puls…

Hello Everyone!! I am about 1 week and a half away from being 3 months Post-Op! I am making this post so that I can get a heads up of any changes I should be expecting soon, I know one may or may not be hair loss, but my main question is will my weight loss begin to slow down drastically? I understand that these changes are different for everyone but I would still appreciate everyone's input since I don't know what to expect lol

Hey Yall Its been a minute since I posted life has been lifeing lol. So tomorrow is my 1 year check up I actually don't complete a year until Friday but the appointment is early. I've decided for my mental sake I'm not going to go. Since surgery I've lost 63lbs not that I'm not proud but honestly just thought I would be further along. I've lost 102 from my highest weight but from surgery it's been really slow. I've had some many victories this year. My a1c is 5.2 it was 7.6 last year, I'm wearing a 16, I was in a 26 last year. My BP is in good range. I can work out for an hour. I have traveled something serious this year and don't need a seat belt extender. All the positi…

Hey yall, I had vsg on Halloween. Lost weight fairly easily the first 3 weeks. But that 3rd week and now the 4th week the scale has not moved. I know from what I read it is normal but it's been 2 weeks now and I am worried. I have tried different things to restart it like okay maybe I need to count every thing that I eat and did that then, okay maybe I need to eat more so my body will stop freaking out and tried that. However, nothing worked haha. I am getting all required protein and water and keep it low carb. I was eating like 250 calories and day then bumped it up to around 500 for a couple days. And when I added more carb still nothing happened. So, today I decided I…

Hey guys! I'm three weeks post- op from Gastric Sleeve. Just curious as to if anyone else has had something called water nausea? I have not been able to drink water in any form (iced, room temperature, hot, flavored, etc...) without it coming back up the second it hits by stomach. The only fluids I have been able to keep down are Gatorade zero or tea with no calorie sweetener. Recently, Gatorade zero has also become like water to the extent where it makes me sick or very nauseous. Also, I'm in the soft foods and I was told I should be eating at least a quarter of a cup of soft foods, but I can't get through one bite that's smaller than my pinky nail without having an inte…

I am new to the website. I just discovered this amazing wealth of knowledge tonight, while googling info on protein, jello, vitamins. I am curious at how people get those little graphic weight lines at the bottom of their posts? Also, I tried to search a topic, but it didn't work. Example: put in January and then nothing showed up, yet I found topics with the word January in them, when scrolling.

Do you stop eating when you feel your restriction kick in or do you try to stop before you feel it? By waiting for the restriction to quit eating, will you stretch your pouch out? How do you know when to stop before you hit your restriction? Is there signs or do you just eat a certain amount and quit? I'm only 5ish weeks out and still on purees. I'm still learning my new stomach. I believe I get a full feeling/pressure on me chest/esphogis area.

HELP! I am 7 months post op and feeling stuck and defeated. Starting weight was 227 and I am now at 155 but I haven't lost any weight this past month. So far I've tolerated everything surprisingly well but some old habits are sneaking back. I've been snacking a lot more, mostly on popcorn, chips, sweets, etc. I've been eating more carbs ever since I noticed I can tolerate them well. I exercise (weights and cardio) about 3 times a week. Since I started exercising, I've noticed I have been eating more now. Has this happened to any of you? What has helped you refocus and get back on track?

Hey Everyone, I have noticed that since my surgery I have been menstruating irregularly and multiple times a month, I have read that it could be because of hormones and the weight loss itself but I am just wanting to see if other people have had similar experiences.

Hey everyone, new to the forum, and to even really understanding what the sleeve is all about! I am a 385 lb male, 6'1... Been big my entire life (since about the age of 18) Weight has fluctuated my entire life but not massively , always been around the 350 - 390 lb range. Until 2018 when I did Keto for 6 months and lost about 70 lbs. Gained it all back and then some during covid with parenting and work stress and probably a bunch of other excuses. Ive always stayed away from the surgery but met someone who had it and then I started looking into options. Pretty nervous. But excited at the same time.

Lost 47lbs from 2022 mid summer high point and 30lbs since 9/12/22 sleeve surgery. Had doubts on doing the surgery given my age (69) and 36.7 bmi but received a lot of encouragement from fellow travelers. The most difficult part for me is recognizing that eating will never be the same. I can’t physically eat a lot and now get satiated with very little. This is very different from how I lived. I would always eat a lot. Some foods taste differently and since my eyes are still larger than my stomach I tend to leave food on my plate. If I eat too much or too quickly, dumping is a real threat. The other challenge is staying hydrated. I do…

So I’m sure grateful to have my mom here to help me recover from my sleeve gastrectomy I had Monday the 5th. I’ve stuck strictly to the post op diet set by my surgery team. Today my mom comments on my consumption of sugar free popsicles to help meet my fluid goals. I had four throughout the day was going for my 5th when she commented. And she told me essentially she didn’t think I was taking the surgery seriously because of the “additional calories and carbs” in the sugar free bomb pops. I have fought to hit my protein goals and fluid numbs everyday other than these popsicles I’ve had water, broth, and protein shakes. Rinse and repeat. I just feel both extremely judged…

Hi everyone! I just had my surgery this past Tuesday and came home yesterday. Since the surgery I've had gas pains that hasn't loosen up at all. I've been walking a lot since I woke up from the surgery and got home too. I've been burping but only passed gas once. I have this waist trainer/binder thing on and I don't know how long I'm supposed to have it on for. Does anyone know what to do? I haven't been able to lay down since I got home and it feels like the gas got worse.

Hi, I’m Alicia. I just had the gastric sleeve done on 11/21 so I’m a lil over 2 weeks post-op and I know when I’m hungry, but I’m having trouble telling when I’m feeling full. Has this happened to anyone else in the beginning or in general after surgery? I try to really listen to my body when I’m eating, and eat slower, but I’m still unable to tell when I’m full. I normally just stop eating when I feel like its in my throat and it’s going down slowly. I’ve been avoiding throwing up and I don’t want that to happen, so that’s why I try to not finish everything I’m eating at the time. Any advice on how to tell when you’re full or feeling satisfied? Thanks in advance!

Hi guys, My name is Caitlyn, I’m going in into my fourth week post op from gastric sleeve surgery. I start advanced purée tomorrow but I’ve been struggling so hard with my depression and having mental breakdowns as well. I’m off from work for 8 weeks as I’m a RN, and being home alone is hard, I’m getting tired of drinking so many fluids, and even though I’m only taking in 1 protein shake a day, I get periods were I don’t want to drink anything at all. I’m somewhat regretting the surgery even though I’m seeing good results, any advice on how to fight this?

Hi Everyone! I am going on vacation at the end of this month and I wanted to if there is anything you recommend I bring so that I can stay on track for my weight loss journey, I also wanted to see whether drinking while on my vacation is something I can do. It is my first time traveling since surgery and I am nervous.

Hi everyone! I'm 5'2 236 lbs BMI is 43. I'm scheduled for gastric sleeve on August 9th. After doing some research I'm seeing that many gain back if not, all their weight. I totally understand that this surgery is merely a tool, but up to me, to change my bad eating habits. I'm just wondering if anyone had permanent or serious health changes due to the surgery? Eg; fatigue due to vitamin loss, hormonal changes, permanent hair loss, no weight loss at all, etc. And anything you would share with me! Thank you!

One year, 2 months, and 2 weeks 114.5lbs 64 inches Pant size 22 to 8/9 Shirt size 2xl to M I have been trying to lose weight, quite literally, my entire life. My earliest memories are of being uncomfortable, knowing I was in a bigger body than I "should" have been. I tried and failed at every diet, and consulted with 3 other surgeons over the course of a decade before I finally committed and had surgery. I went to therapy, read the books, stuck to the plan, fell off the plan. got back on, cried, rejoiced, and everything in between. And today, I hit my "goal" weight. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't elated to see that long desired number. It was…

Hey everyone! I was sleeved in September, so I’m almost to the three month mark. My appetite is returning & it seems to be back with a VENGEANCE! Of course I’m unable to eat passed half a plate (maybe even pass a quarter of a plate lol), but I seem to be hungry more & more throughout the day. Has this happened or is happening to any of you? If so, how are you satisfying these little bursts of hunger?

I'm 3 and a half months past surgery and I've lost almost 39 pounds, which I'm very happy with. Prior to surgery, I did have a hint of a double chin, and now that it's going away, I'm getting a bit of a "turkey neck" instead. Meaning, there's some loose skin there and a couple of vertical lines I can see in the mirror and in photographs. Also, if I shake my head, my neck wobbles back and forth. Is this something that can go away as I lose more weight, or am I stuck with this look unless I have plastic surgery? Has anyone experienced this and found some solution? Are there any less invasive procedures like lasers or peeling that actually work? Also, I'm losi…

I had the sleeve on Nov 7th. Is it normal to have cravings? I still find myself grabbing for things (healthy and not healthy) just to realize nope I can't eat food right now. Of course, I am following my docs instructions and have only had protein shakes, water, Popsicles, and diluted "cream of" soups. I swear sometimes I am actually hungry but my team says there is no way. It's so hard to tell between the two hungers. How do you?

Looking for other May 2021 folks to share the journey with! I'm scheduled for May 5th and start my liquid diet in just a few days. Anyone else on/around the same time? What kind of pre-op diet do you have? I admit I'm super nervous about how I'm going to manage the next couple of weeks and keep up my energy at work.

I had my sleeve done on 11/11 and I am in the last few days of the pureed/soft food stage right now. I feel like after I moved from liquids to purees (and all of the gas from the procedure was out of my system) I either haven't really felt my restriction or I'm still just terrible at recognizing it. Everything I've read seems to say ~2oz is a normal portion size for this stage, but I can usually eat 3oz (esp. of refried beans) and I haven't really had the nausea/runny nose/sneezing fullness cues from my literature. I do get a feeling of tightness in my sternum sometimes, but it will usually go away if I pause and wait a few minutes before continuing to eat. I'm worried I'…

Hi Bariatric Pals So I found out today from a friend who had the gastric sleeve 1 week before me, that you can't have coffee/Caffeine for 1-3 months post op. I had no idea. I tried to call my surgeons office but they're away overseas until mid December. I will stop drinking my morning coffees from now on, but I'm only a few weeks post PO and I've had coffee with almond milk for the past 5 days. So I'm freaking out. I haven't had any Nausea or acid reflux, ? I'm just worried that I may have done something really bad. Any advice on this?
