I’m 11 days post- op and I’m constantly hungry. I have to eat every 2 hours or I go into scrounge mode. I eat anything I can lay hands on. Tonight, I let time get away from me and got hungry. I ate about 20 potato chips. I’m hitting and exceeding protein and fluid goals. I’ve started myself on rotisserie chicken 3 days early because I just can’t take it anymore. The only difference I’ve experienced since surgery on 5/30 is getting full faster but my hunger is probably worse. I get tired very quickly despite the protein and fluids. I’m so defeated right now. I feel like the pain and anxiety of the last few months has all been a waste.

Hi everyone. I appreciate learning from your shared experiences. I'm a 62-year-young grandma with a zest for life. I joined here 2+ years ago, but initially ruled out WLS. Over the past two years my health has declined surprisingly, becoming complex with several new diagnoses, including: 1. A rare and progressive neurological disorder (misdiagnosed for years). - I'm told my nerve fibers will not replenish, thus my muscles (legs, especially) will continue to weaken. I'm also told I should be realistic about my physical limitations as my level of exercise isn't expected to improve post surgery. I am realistic, but I'm always hopeful. My exercise level currently …

That’s a mouth full! Not ironic….… ok so UK/Irish folks. Has anyone got a solid insurance cover for surgery abroad?!! Im having trouble finding cover. Not for travel medical which is exclusively for pre existing medical conditions and doesn’t include surgery. I’m talking Uber specific Travel Tourism medical insurance. My sister has me pinned on honouring her wish that I get full cover for the surgery, in the event anything should go wrong as ‘normal travel insurance’ won’t cover it. I’ve found one - Medical Shield, not overly impressed. It’s pricey and a bit meh for what it is! But I guess if you have little to no competitors… Anyway any recommendations plea…

Hi - I am new to the site. My sleeve surgery is scheduled for March 10th. Anyone else here set for March? I am super anxious but also looking forward to it. I had a lap band in 2009 and a slip in 2014 that required removal. Curious as to what your pre-op diet looks like. I am on partial liquids now and full liquids for two weeks before the surgery. Nice to meet everyone!

Hey, I'm about 6 months out from my sleeve. I've lost about 90lbs from my surgery date. I have been working out and eating my best. However, my life has changed dramatically in the last 2 months. So it was already difficult to find time to workout. I felt like my weight-loss goals were starting to be pushed back for other obligations such as my new job, my kiddos sports schedules, summer break, and such. So finding the motivation at 5am or at 10pm to workout was tough but I was doing it. Then about 2 weeks ago, my husband and I got into an argument. He confesses that he isn't attracted to me and never was. He said he loves me for other reasons and he was emotionally inve…

I am curious if anyone had a full thyroidectomy prior to weight loss surgery? I had my thyroid removed in 2018 and it is near impossible to lose even a pound. I've tried low carb and exercising regularly but I only lost 2 lbs in 4 months. I am so worried that after my surgery which is tomorrow morning, that I won't lose anything. Please let me know if you have success or not with the sleeve.

This was the best thing I have ever done for myself. A true act of self love and discipline. With no regrets at all. I used to kind of roll my eyes when people would say weight lost “journey”. But it’s truly what it is. Loosing the weight gave me energy and confidence that I can’t even describe. An old friend reach out to me, as she is about to start her journey, after recommending this app I started going through my old posts. I just want to say this community is an amazing place and I am forever grateful. VSG: 3.14.18 Highest weight: 285 Surgery weight: 248 Current weight: 175 I love the new me ?

Is there a tutorial on using these forums? I know, I am from the Stone Age. I mean, I know computers pretty well and use the everyday, but I have never really been a part of a forum. I don’t know how to copy and reply to a specific message like some do. I think I figured out how to find replies to my messages….. Sometimes I am looking at messages and then realize they were from months ago?

Sleeved on 12/23. I was on a break from my doctoral studies. I started back up on the 1st. I am having a hard time getting back in the swing of school. I assume it is residual anesthesia and healing. Did anyone delay school after sleeving? Not sure if I should take a break or knuckle through.

I will be sleeved 6/5/2023. Within the last year I gained over 50lbs. I contributed this to the pandemic (working from home) and the sudden loss of a very close family member. I’m worried of course about sagging skin. Anybody care to share pics or any information on if sagging skin was really bad, or how to make it better. I weigh 250 and I’m 5”3

Hi all , I am 6 months out , on Bariatric Pal Multivitamin One chewable plus 45mg iron tablet , but it's still not doing it .I only had the tests done yesterday and first thing today the doctor texted and said you are very low on iron .She told me to get in touch with my dietician for her to decide what's to be done , but I only have her e mail so don't know when she'll reply . Has this happened to you ? what did you get told ? please don't suggest including more fruit and veg or red meat into my diet , as I am struggling with "ordinary" food going down as it is . Many thanks for reading x

So I'm 5 months post op and couldn't be happier with my surgery, the results, and my subsequent lifestyle. I've read a lot since the surgery about everything and one of the constants that keeps showing up is that the "honeymoon" phase will end...which I knew prior to surgery and expected. My question has more to do with the mechanism. Do you just wake up one day and suddenly feel much hungrier than usual? Does it gradually happen over 30-60 days? Does it just happen that your "normal" portions no longer satiate you? Is it a combination of mental and physiological, i.e. if you were to continue to eat the normal quantities of food that you had been eating prior to the…

I am just curious.... I had VSG on 03/09/2023. This is supposed to be the HONEYMOON PHASE! But I am turtle losing. Doing all the right things. Eating my calorie limit, hitting water and protein goals. I have lost 21lbs since 03/09, seven of those pounds was the first week after surgery. Anyone else a turtle loser too?

Hi Everyone! I'm about 4 months post-op from gastric sleeve (12/2) and I have started noticing probably in the past 3 weeks that I feel nauseous from about 10am to 7pm unless I eat. It's almost like grazing to be honest. I might have lost 2lbs this month which is also concerning. I have tried my best to get back on a schedule (eating 3 to 5 times a day) the past week but the nausea is really hard to deal with. I don't eat on my 45 minute commute to and from work but the drive home is absolutely terrible. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

Hey everyone, I had my sx gastric sleeve 2/20 and I’m almost 10 weeks out. It’s been complications since surgery and I don’t know what else to do neither do the doctors. I have sever pains in my chest and feels like a ball sitting in my throat. I did a second surgery of fixing hiatal hernia and I’m 2 weeks out from this. I been in and out the hospital I can’t eat or keep food down. When I do eat food the pain of twisting and burning the moment food touches my stomach. I throw up a ball of mucus. I can’t even take oral medications and I’m at lost and regret if everything in life after this surgery. Anyone can give me pointers? Anyone been through this? I…

I am really hoping I haven’t been sabotaging myself the last 2 weeks. My program cleared me for nuts so for lunch everyday I was just grabbing a portioned out bag of cashews, 1 ounce. I’m 3 months post op and have been in a stall the last 2 weeks. My calories are around 700 a day and I go to the gym everyday for 60-90 minutes. Could the cashews be preventing me from losing weight? I had thought this was something good for us and now I’m not so sure after having read a little on it. Do you think cashews should go into the category of a once every few weeks treat instead of a lunch option?

I had my surgery Monday the 15th, I feel fine other than soreness at the incision sites. I have been following the food plan, eating soft, mushy proteins and liquids yet I have only lost 1 pound this week which is sort of discouraging. I have not had a bowel movement since the morning before surgery and that's also making me nervous. Anyone else have these issues?

Hey y’all so I just got cleared from pysch and nutrionist. I already took my THC test my physc is just waiting on a letter of support from my doctor. How long do y’all think it’ll be until they submit to insurance ? I’m excited and nervous and a little scared. I’ve never had any kind of surgery and to be Frank I’m a little bit of a hypochondriac.

Hi everyone, nice to meet you all! I’ve just started my WLS journey and have so many questions. I’ve been researching things day and night. So far I’ve had my intake appointment, set up an appointment for a bariatric psych eval, made an appointment for an upper GI series, set up three of six requires nutrition appointments all of which are one month apart, and my first appointment with the surgeon will be 8/1. In your process, what came next for you? About how long between your initial consult and surgery? Any input is sure appreciated.

Hi Folks! I've been browsing the community for awhile now, but with my sleeve scheduled in two weeks (May 30), it's time to dig in. Does anyone have any recommendations for resources (articles, videos, books?) for partners/spouses/family members who might benefit from a bit more education (or, reality check?) about what they can expect as a support person for a sleeve patient? I have tried to explain as much as I can to my husband and I believe he wants to be helpful, and he's taking off the first week to help me recover and deal with the kids and household, BUT I would love for him to understand the sheer gravity of this life change. I feel like hearing this informa…

I want to start by saying I know that "everyone is different," and "it's not a race, it's a journey", but I sometimes have a hard time relating because I had VSG at 199 lbs (I'm 5'2") and the weight loss just seems so much slower than most of what I see online. I'm 6 wks post-op and down 21 lbs since surgery and 33.5 lbs including pre-op diet. I've seen the charts saying how much I can expect to lose in what time-frames, but I would love to hear from others with similar starting stats. I get discouraged pretty easily and need some inspiration or similar stories. How long did it take to reach your goal? How much had you lost at about 6 wks (or 1-2 months?) When did you see…

I am 5 days post sleeve and everything has been moving along well. Until yesterday that is. I had a full on breakdown. Uncontrollable crying, taking everything out on my hubs, who has only been 100% amazing. Is this normal? Am I going crazy? I've not had any issues with intake or keeping things down it's just every little thing makes me ball like a little baby. Anyone else experience this?

Today marks 1 year since i had gastric sleeve surgery. Starting weight 317lb, Current weight 193lb Hunger comes back with a vengeance. There is not a single piece of food that i have issues with from healthy to very unhealthy stuff... So that is something i have to watch closely because i can get very bad cravings for sweets like donuts, pastries, bread ect... I can eat a lot more now than before. So have to watch that portion size and stop with the snacking. I could have probably lost more weight if i actually worked out but i rarely ever worked out. Just too busy with work. But overall i am very happy with the way i look now. love being able to find clothing …

Hi there! I had my VSG + hiatal hernia repair surgery on March 7th, 2023. I am 13 days post-op today, and at my one week-check up, I was approved to eat soft foods, take medication whole, and start gentle resistance exercises. I am having moments of pain when eating certain foods. It hasn't been often. The first time was when I tried soft scrambled eggs, and I've since paused eating eggs because they just don't feel good going down. I've since eaten various types of soft foods - refried beans, pudding, soups, and tuna fish. The latter is one that I really enjoy and it goes down well. It's also how I try to get a lot of my protein in for the day. Today, tho…

Started at 317lb before surgery. Its been almost a year and 1 month since. Weighed myself today and i am at 189lb. Only 9 more pounds to go to reach my intended goal weight tho if i loose more then awesome!! I actually gained weight about a month or 2 ago and that was my fault do to eating poorly... donuts and donuts and donuts... Its hard because they get delivered fresh to my job everyday and they just taunt me in the display case... lol So i think i will be loosing a lot more weight soon next month because i am moving to a place in the pacific northwest with tons of outdoor trails and hiking which i love to do but here in Florida its too hot to do outside stuff most of…

I am so fed up. I am 10 weeks post op. I didn’t lose any weight in the first 3 weeks. Very odd as it was liquid only. Between weeks 4-7 I lost just over a stone. Since week 7, and I am now nearly 11 weeks post op, I haven’t even lost 1lb. I am not drinking calories, I am sticking to the NHS guidelines and my dietician. No slider foods. High protein, low fat and hitting my fluid goals each day. Literally feel like my last draw is gone. I keep reading to trust to the process and I’ve carried on but weeks of no weightloss has no meant that I have started a water only diet, fasting as it seems my body will not lose weight if I put any…

Just had my endoscopy yesterday one more dietician appt and one more physc. All other tests have been completed. Do you think BCBS NC will have issues with this. Hello Everyone, This is my 3rd week post-op and I've finally switched to soft foods!! However, I have gained 2 pounds. I'm still only having around 2 oz of food per meal. The only new items I've added are shredded chicken and low fat string cheese. Someone please tell me this is normal. I'm eating enough to gain 2 pounds but not enough to have a bm, what the heck!

Hi , I just got my 6 months bloods and my serum urea level is above range 8.6mmo/L - it's above the higher reference limit .I know we're all devouring a lot of protein , but I'm concerned about my kidneys and this high urea reading .Does anyone know anything about this ? I've tried to look it up and it just says too much protein can cause high urea levels and kidney problems .Worried now, thanks .

I KNOW stalls are inevitable, and weightloss isn't a smooth line. Just curious how typical patterns have been? I didn't hit a stall at 2-3 weeks, possibly because my plan was full liquids for 4 weeks PO. I had a decent loss the first month, then 5 pounds the second month. Hoping this was just because I was transitioning to regular foods. As far as food, I am following the plan, no cheating, but I really can eat a healthy amount, and am getting in all my protein and water. Just wondering if I will be a slow and (hopefully) steady loser, or if others have experienced a slow spot in the beginning then bigger losses later? Yes, I'll stick with the plan, but for those of you t…
