I am currently 5 weeks post op and have found that I am way more happy about the non-scale victories than I am with losing pounds. So, I thought that I'd make a forum where we can all celebrate our non-scale victories! Whether it be wrapping a bath towel fully around you, getting in your car when someone else has parked too close, or maybe even that you did 20 minutes on the treadmill for the first time ever! Let's celebrate these wins!

I have been super paranoid and careful with my food progression and choices. I am 3.5 weeks post op and my plan allows for soft or pureed foods starting at 2 weeks PO. Yesterday I had one hardboiled eggs (mashed up really well) with low fat mayo for lunch and within 45 minutes I was in the bathroom for the next two hours with things coming out at both ends. I had NEVER been this sick in my entire life. It was violent and non stop. I don't get it, I ate extremely slowly, took about 35 minutes to finish one egg, I've eaten eggs before (soft scrambled) and mayo (with tuna) before with no issues whatsoever. Now I am legit terrified to eat anything as I don't trust my body. P…

I am week 2 of phase 3, I have had a turkey sausage patty, I didn’t purée it but rather chewed it into nothingness….I have only eaten 2 in the past 2 days but now I am worried….also had imitation crab meat and chewed and chewed it as well…I have felt fine after eating both but now I am thinking maybe I am rushing too much, read something about blockages….thoughts?? I’m going to go back to tuna and canned chicken instead, i can blend those easily and tolerate the taste.

Hey- sensitive topic but just wanting advice. I’m 3 weeks post sleeve surgery- I hear it’s quite normal to experience constipation. I’m using Benefibre and magnesium every day, and duclolax on most days however, no natural movements. Beginning to use microlax enemas daily now to keep things going however, not super effective. Fleet enema works really well - I have used that twice in the past 2 weeks. I’m on the full purée diet still and moving onto soft food as of next week. I’m trying to do at least 30 mins of gentle walking a day and drinking a minimum of 1500-2000ml water daily. I just want to begin to have natural urges again. Worried this issue will continue! Wh…

I have heard that a lot of people after bariatric surgery start having issues with their teeth, but that there’s not a lot to f study on it. So I am wondering, after gastric sleeve, or even bypass, how many of you have seen an increase in cavities, sensitivity, dental erosion or even teeth breaking?

So surgeon called saying my ultrasound came back good. No issues other than a small note that my spleen is borderline oversized. But other than that its all good. Next up they are ordering a HIDA scan. basically they inject you with this radioactive stuff that your liver filters out and into your gall bladder, Then they see it on a Gamma Camera. Then they inject you with a synthetic hormone to simulate you eating a very fatty meal to get your gall bladder to empty itself so they can see that process on the gamma camera. Shall see how that goes.

Hi guys. I am 1 week and a few days post Op from my sleeve surgery. I’m a little concern because I have notice that I am able to drink Water like normal. I’m also able to drink Protein Shakes without a problem. I had mash potato and I was able to eat a good amount without having to feel horrible. I know everyone is different. I just find it strange. Has anyone dealt with this? I’m just nervous that this surgery did not work.

Hi all. I have a couple questions about surgery. Are you completely naked during surgery? And also I am estimated to have my period on the exact date of my surgery which is 1/10. I was wondering how that goes. I am a shy person so I worry about these things. Any information will be appreciated. Thank you

Hi everyone, I'm having a really tough time dealing with my mother in law. There's no kicking her out, my husband won't because his other siblings won't take her in. (She tried to split up his brother with his new wife just after they had a baby, and his oldest sister has ended all contact with her) Part of the reason I did this surgery is to have a reason to say no to her feeding me/guilt tripping me to eat junk food. Before she moved in 5 years ago. I was 130lbs. I know it's 100% My responsibility what goes in my mouth, but over the years, she's made it so hard. I was done, defeated. After reaching out and getting therapy, they think cutter her off will be the…

Hello. I am 44y old male and I am seriously considering SG. I am 5’7 and around 195 lb. I know this is not too obese -I am in fact BMI 31- and normally bariatric surgery should not be an option. Yet, after extensive literature reading I believe it is a good option. I have high blood pressure , high cholesterol and early non alcoholic fatty liver disease. Moreover , I have been always struggling with weight issues since I was a teenager, alternating times of physical activity and good diet habits -and a relative healthy weight as a result - with bad periods of overeating and sedentary behavior. All in all, the aggregated tendency is adding up weight on the long run. …

Last week, I was allowed to start eating bread and pasta. I know plans are different, but this is according to my clinic's plan. I tried pasta during lunch at work, and I had the sudden urge to throw up after only a few bits. I do have a tendency to sometimes throw up my dinner, but it almost never happens at lunch. This weekend, I tried some bread, but it felt like eating rocks. I had some Chinese food with rice for dinner tonight, and although iI ate very little, I threw almost all of it up again. Does this mean I'm not ready to eat carbs? Does anyone else tolerate carbs well at this point (3 months past surgery), or do any of you experience the same …

Hello everyone. I’m new here and wanted to introduce myself. I found this forum a few days ago and have enjoyed reading the posts. I am a 40 year old female and had my surgery on 10/24. My starting weight when I first started the pre op liquid diet was 215. I was 204 the day of my surgery. I’m just a bit over the 3 week mark and I’m down to 191. The past week or so the scale hasn’t moved much. I was a bit confused at first since I know I’m not consuming more than 5-600 calories a day but then I started reading about the stalls in the week 2-3 range and realized it’s normal as my body needs time to heal and get my water level back up. So I’m trying not to stress over t…

So i had my ultrasound today due to a elevated bilirubin levels. Ultrasound came back good. No stones, nothing at all. So i am guessing next up i will have something called a HIDA scan which they inject me with this radioactive stuff and watch it flow with the gamma cameras. That will be fun... NOT lol.

Okay I have been gaining weight post sleeve so I asked my family dr about my hormones. He ordered some thyroid labs but says he also wants me to come get my blood sugar checked two hours after a big meal. He also said that my psyc meds can cause diabetes and I should be doing this test every 4-6 months as long as I’m on them. i thought he was suggesting this as a possibility for why I’m gaining weight but when I got home and googled it I see that weight loss is actually a symptom so I am confused. I drink about a gallon a day so I guess I may check the excessive thirst box and of course I pee a lot with all that water. Also, did tell him that I always feel hungry but I’m…

Hey guys, so last week doing the dishes I had pain going up both my arms and across my shoulder in the back and then I felt what I thought was like shortness of breathe, maybe a little heart flutter. It scared me so I went and sat down and it stopped. Now it happens sometimes when I am active. Long story short, I called my surgeon he said it was weird and to get it checked at ER. Six hours later, an EKG, CT scan and bloodwork showed no clot and nothing really abnormal. I went to the grocery store tonight and just walking around I started to feel the weirdness again. Has anyone experienced this? I just want to know what it is and when it will stop hahaha. It's unnerving.

I had my sleeve on Monday. They kept at the hospital 2 nights for nausea and pain. I am now home but still have constant nausea even though I'm on 3 different nausea meds and terrible gas pains (I'm on 2 meds for that as well). I am always up walkng. I keep dry heaving and actually threw up stomach acid last night. I regret doing this surgery so badly. I can't sleep due to the nausea and pain either. Anyone else go through this?

I I am about six months postop, VSG I’ve lost about 60 pounds. I have found myself becoming obsessed with cooking, learning new, cooking techniques and trying to prepare recipes from different cultures. I love feeding people, I love hearing how great the food is. I can spend a whole day cooking and only eat a teeny tiny bit, but somehow Its so worth it hearing how much people enjoyed it, my family and friends. I don’t know if this is something I need to be worried about. I can make myself a serving of food, once I get full I can easily throw away the rest of my serving. I just worry that my constant thinking about preparing meals might become an issue in the futu…

I've lost 70 lbs in 2 months. I thought that was great, but now I'm anxious about the scale. Before having the surgery, I didn't even a scale because I didn't want to know. Now, I've been told I have to monitor it. I get anxiety now every time I gain 1 or 2 lbs! Is that normal? Makes me feel like I'm not doing something correctly. [emoji53]

That's why the sleeve. And I have so much support, and so much encouragement. It makes me feel very special. Anybody else out there in december???

Before surgery i was at a 4XL Shirt. finding 4XL was nearly impossible as most big box stores only have up to 3XL if that. I was having to stretch out the 3XL shirts. Today i decided to buy some new shirts. XL. and sure enough they fit perfect. Excited because now i can fully shop at almost any store. Especially the branded stores at the mall. As for pants I was at a 54 or 56" i dont remember. and i am at a 38 pants size now Still a bit high on the pants size. many of the stores i use to love carry up to 36. Still some work to do to get down in weight more.

I know some may think I am crazy but it is 10 days after surgery and I can't stomach protein shakes since surgery so I have had no protein until today. I had some steak tips today and cut it to shreds and seems like my stomach had no issues. Many I heard wait months before they try steak. I had to because I was feeling so weak. Has anyone else ate things earlier than they were suppose to? Thanks.

I am at 12 days post op and still on liquids and soups.. have had the odd piece of chicken and chewed it until it’s nothing and I’ve had a piece of chocolate that I let melt before I swallowed - oops. Anyway my question is that I’m worried as I haven’t been 100% on the 30 mins post eating without water - basically because I forgot about it! If I start now am I ok?? I’m paranoid! ugh.. this op is pretty full on. I see my surgeon and dietician tomorrow and apparently I start on puréed food. So from now on if I do the 30 minute wait after eating anything I should be ok? What about before eating?? Does this apply to before eating too??

I slept till after four am! Better than I thought. Today is the day! I gotta be at the hospital at 8:30 a.m. (45 min drive which isn’t bad for my rural area). I got nerves! My life is already better by loosing 90 lbs this calendar year, over 100 in less than 18 months. Good things gotta be in store for me. It’s my time to live life and be happy and not embarrassed about my size all the time. good luck to all going through pre op, post op or surgery today, or even just preparing… we are all in this together.

Hello, on Sept 14th I had a revision from the lap-band to the Gastric Sleeve. Pre-surgery liquid diet I went from 235 to 212 on the liquid diet for about 10 days. I have only lost a total of 2 pounds, and I am 7 weeks out. I am very frustrated at this point. I am doing everything I am supposed to be doing. I could walk a little more, but other than that I am only consuming around 800 calories a day. I am not comprehending the science of this. I burn around 1600 calories a day, so why am I not losing weight? I do need to mention that I am going through menopause and had to go off of my hormones for 4 weeks after surgery but have been back on them now for 3 weeks. I was als…

Hi guys! My name is Samantha and I am new to the site. My sleeve surgery is scheduled for September 12,2022! I am excited and nervous at the same time! My support system is kind of lacking due to no significant other and one child being away at college. The only one left with me is my wild child and there is no telling how much help she will be! I say that with the most love possible. She is amazing but tends to act before thinking? So who wants to saddle up together and help support each other through this???

HI, Has any one had stomach flu after your Gastric Sleeve? I ask because I came down with the Stomach flu on 10/26 and I am still dealing with painful cramps and Diarrhea. I ended up in the emergency room for dehydration and pain. They ct scanned and my sleeve was fine. Hydrated me up and sent me home with medicine for the cramps. Anytime a eat anything it goes straight through me. I have had stomach flu be for and it was no where near as bad as this. I am really not getting much support from my surgent on this either. I went and seen my regular doctor and same, Stomach Flu. Seems odd that I have had it for 1 week now. I'm I being overly concerned? Is this no…

So just came back from my surgeons office for the 6 month follow up. Vitamins all looked great. My iron has gone back up to normal levels. But unfortunately 1 blood test did not and actually is higher than when i personally had it tested a week before which is something called Bilirubin. So they are ordering 1st an ultrasound to see if there are any stones or blockage in the gallbladder. After that if it shows nothing then they are going to do a HIDA scan to check function. Shall see how it goes. but they were impressed with the weight loss in 6 months. They did tell me to eat more lol

Hi all! Very new to this site and about to have gastric sleeve surgery on 10/31. I started the process back in July and it’s all felt pretty quick. I knew I wanted to go through with it after talking to the surgeon and team. They have been absolutely wonderful. I’m currently on the two week pre-op liquid diet (only broth/sugar free jello & popsicles/protein shakes/clear liquids). I think I didn’t fully prepare myself for how difficult it would be to go without solid food. I’ve struggled most of my life with being overweight and overeating and I got tired of it. But I think my attachment to food is still extremely strong. I’m working with a therapist to overco…
