My surgery went well, but now anesthesia is nearly worn off and the “real” pain is setting in. Tough getting my liquids with the nausea, so I’m trying peppermint tea. Figured out warm liquid is much easier for me. Now just trying to play catch up.

can only have Clear Liquids through tomorrow, then I start full liquids for 10 days.

Oh! Funny, my surgeon made a point to tell me I have a “darn beautiful liver” which totally cracked me up. It made the two week pre op diet all worth it! Lol

Had an acute pain show up yesterday under my right breast, down about six inches. Not sure what it is but hurts like hell whenever I try sitting down or getting up, even walking. My hunch is the anesthesia wore off and I wasn’t taking enough of my pain meds. Will give it another day and see if it gets better as gas passes. Holy, the gas is NO joke…

this morning I managed to eat 1/2 cup of cottage cheese for b'fast. Now sipping Water. Slept ok. Had gas so was up part of the night and had to switch to the recliner from my bed for a few hours. My wrists are aching--probably from pushing myself around the bed/rolling over carefully, etc. The gas mostly feels like indigestion, its not terrible but it does get painful/uncomfortable. I'm just so happy to have it done and be home.

How is everyone doing? How is the Fluid intake going? I started Protein Drinks today and it’s hard, but I set a timer and that’s helping me space things out. Hope all of you are feeling good! 🌈❤️

An Update:

I've been getting 3 meals eaten--yogurt in the morning. Usually cottage cheese or chopped moist chicken at lunch. then eggs or sometimes baked fish for dinner. Fluids aren't wonderful--usually 48 oz, still working up to 64oz. I'm feeling hungry but not traditional hunger--I get uncomfortable pains that rise up from my stomach, especially in the mornings--that seems to be a hunger cue. I also get gas pain/bubbles that rise up into my chest while I'm eating. Doesn't seem to matter how small a spoonful I'm eating. I hope that eases soon b/c its painful.

On a TMI note, I haven't had a BM since Thursday. However I don't feel uncomfortable or have any pain.

I feel very good otherwise. Took at 1 mile walk Friday and 1.8 mile walk at the beach yesterday!

How are you other March 13-ers doing?

      tl:dr at bottom,
I could use some advice. I went to see my dietician today (not a bariatric surgery dietician, I can explain why I am seeing her if you want to know). She knows I am going to have weight loss surgery as long as I hit the goal weight my insurance told me I need to be at. I have to be at the goal weight by June 24, 2023, in order for my insurance to pay for my surgery.
I had a weigh in the doctor's office a couple of days ago and weighed 301, my scale at home said 302. However, on the same day, the scale at a friend's house said 313.
I knew I had this Dietician appointment two days later and I knew she would weigh me. I continued to weigh myself at home (after getting new batteries) and I was at 302 then 299 and today at home I weighed 303, right before my appointment, when I got to her office I was weighed and it said 313.
I am concerned about what to believe since the doctor's office and my scale show similar numbers. I also bought a new scale today and it said 313.
The Dietician told me I needed to eat more protein, which honestly I struggle with. she said I needed 150 grams!!  I said are you kidding? that seems like a lot.  She used my weight to come up with this number.
Should I really be trying to eat enough protein for a 300-lb person or should I be eating protein for a goal-weight person (mine is 170)?
also, my clothing is loose like I lost the 20 lbs mine and the doctor's scale shows, and not 10 lbs like everyone else's scale shows. Also, I have always naturally been more muscular even when I was 120 lbs and did not eat any protein aside from what is in plants.
tl:dr- should I be eating enough protein to support a 300lb person or should I be eating protein for a "normal" sized person? AND should I trust the Doctors scale more so than the Dietician's scale?

        Hi!

I would love to be your accountability partner. I had the sleeve in 2021, so maybe I can give you some insights.
