Hi, my name is Teresa Powell. I had bypass on the 20th of October. I have lost about 40 pounds. I have been over weight for so many years that I decided it was time to do something. I want to ride roller coasters again. I am having the hardest time right now with the liquid diet I am not getting enough protein in and I can not see to no matter what I do. The shakes are getting old and everything I put in my mouth makes me sick. The Doctor told me to drink vitamin water zero's or G2's well the G2's made me sick as a dog and there is only 2 flavor's I can handle of the zero's. I have 4 kids and I get something for me to eat (like soup) and I wake up and they have ate it all…

I need your advice. I am 5 weeks post op and traveling to London for 9 days on Sunday. The friends I am traveling with do not know I had the surgery. We will be eating out for all of our meals. Is it going to be difficult for me to find food I can eat at restaurants? Currently I am on a soft solid diet. Mainly I eat fish, chicken salad, greek yogurt, low fat mozzarella cheese sticks, thinly sliced deli turkey, green beans, cooked carrots and broccoli, lean ground beef and bananas. Any advice you can give me would help so much!! Thanks!!

And I'm finally on puréed foods for 4 weeks! I don't know if I can do this... Today I pureed chicken with some chicken broth, it was awful! I also did some carrots they weren't bad. How in the world do you make it on pureed foods? Looks to me like I'll be drinking my shakes for the next 4 weeks. The Drs office told me to purée chili, chicken, turkey get my Protein in, how do you do it? Also I've lost 14 pounds in 2 weeks and now down 29 # since doing the 6 months diet and 2 weeks. Which is good but I'm at a stall haven't moved in 3 days, I thought it came at 3 weeks. Guess I'm just frustrated over the pureed foods.

The gas pain is oh so real. When I came to I felt like I had surgery on my back instead of my stomach. Pain meds alleviated that but when they said you would get gas pains, they weren't lying. I'm laying here staring at the ceiling wishing to pass gas. Aside from a few burps (welcomed I may add) it's all the relief I have had as of yet. But in being treated well and kept as comfortable as possible. Being a veteran (unfortunately) to surgeries I must say this has been one of the toughest. I know in the long run it will pay off. Walking does help. So get to walking as soon as you can. But lord I can't wait for all this air to be out of me

Today I started my liquid pre-op diet. John is incredibly supportive and helpful. My daughter and John's sister are both coming to visit this weekend, and he went out this morning to buy a few things so we could feed the company. We included on the list the things I needed for my liquid diet. The list was not very long lol. He came home with $400 worth of groceries. Four. Hundred. Dollars. I'm not exaggerating. While he was in the store, he started imagining all these meals we could make. He totally forgot that I can't eat. For like a month. I can't stop laughing, and he's still trying to fit it all into the refrigerator.

I had to basically harass my surgery scheduler since all my pre-op requirements were complete and my file was just sitting on her desk. But, I'm pleased to say: I have a date! December 3rd! The beginning of a new chapter. Now how do I make it until then? I'm so excited and happy and thankful. I needed to tell someone or burst trying to hold it all in. Please fly, time! Yes!

I'm 7 pounds from my goal weight in 6 months, but still in the overweight category, I'm 5ft10in tall and wearing a US 10/12, UK14/16 depending on the shop. if you saw me in the street, you would see a slim, healthy woman. To be at the top of the normal range I would actually need to lose a stone, if you then saw me in the street, you would no doubt think I was slightly emaciated and could do with putting on a few pounds, my weight seems to be plateauing at the moment and frankly I don't really want to lose anymore. Whilst I have always know that the bmi charts are ridiculous I can really "see" the truth at my current weight. Am working on toning now but am NOT go…

Not about going through the procedure. I am nervous that I won't be successful. over the past 10 years, have been on several diets, worked with 5 different private trainers, tried several different styles of workouts. I work hard, I eat well, but the weight just doesn't come off. After getting injured at crossfit last spring and getting shoulder surgurey, I decided that I needed some extra help. I know a few folks who have been successful with the sleeve. I am just nervous. However, I am excite…

So my surgery is tomorrow and I'm sooo anxious! Today I can't have any solids.. Only sugar free liquids. I'm going to try to sleep through it if I get hungry. I refuse to mess this up! A couple of nights ago I watched the gastric sleeve being done on YouTube and honestly, it didn't bother me much at all. Except the long tube they put down your throat. I'm really excited right now but I'm sure tomorrow will be a whole new story lol. I'm still waiting for the hospital to call me and tell me what time to be at the hospital! Another update coming tomorrow morning!

Here's my story! I've struggled with my weight my entire life. Blah, blah, blah! This is, I'm sure, the same story for most of us. I've tried all diets and have had a lot of success only to see the weight gradually come back the minute I stopped exercising and "dieting". I haven't stepped on a scale for over 7 years nor did I go to the doctor's office in this time frame. Quite frankly, I didn't want to hear the number, my weight. In the spring I started doing research on weight loss surgery and decided to move forward and attend a seminar. I was so impressed! Even though this was not covered by my insurance and I paid out of pocket, I moved forward with RNY. I di…

My dr is going to appeal upon my behalf, in 2011 I had spine fusion because I have degenerative disc. No trauma just genetic. U haven't had a bit if back pain until gaining 60 lbs and now the pain is back. Has anyone been denied and them approved. My dr seems to think we have a good shot. The smallest I've been ever in adult years was 120lbs, and I was only 21. I managed to ride the roller coaster of weight gain in small increments and eventually skimmed the edge of the 140lb mark until I was about 26...and pregnant. By the time I gave birth to my son, I was a whopping 227lbs. The weight didn't melt away in my post pregnany workouts. It took a lot of work, appetite suppresant pills, water aerobics and a bunch of whinning. But my body finally gave in, and allowed me to maintain a more cur…

Hey all, I just discovered this forum and I'm having a field day reading everything. My story is below! I had the sleeve done last Thursday, the 6th. My first 24 hours, when I was hooked up to the pain pump, I was fine. I got up and walked with no issue. I was very groggy. However, the second day things started going downhill. I had a severe migraine (not uncommon for me) and the surgeon told me I could take my imitrex as long as I crushed it. WORST IDEA EVER. Shortly after I took it they had to take out my IV because it was leaking into my hand and my hand was huge. They decided to just leave it out since it was discharge day. I proceeded to get deathly ill, laying in …

Hello there! Finally could post something I was sleeved yesterday and feel pretty good! I have some gas trapped in my back, but it's nothing I can't handle. It's 4pm and I'm still waiting to be discharged. Apparently my surgeon forgot something in the paperwork. When I woke up yesterday, I was in a moderate pain, and had bad nausea. They gave me lots of meds and I was in and out for most of the evening. This night wasn't too bad either. I would sleep for about 2 hours until the meds wore off, then I would go walk. So far so good. Ready to be home now! SW-238 GW-135

Hey yall! So I was just wondering what kind of protein shakes yall use. I started off with the premier protein shakes but decided to switch over to body fortress super advanced whey protein powder. I switched bc the premier protein just was too chocolatey for me. If anyone uses powder, what do you mix it with? I mixed mine with whole milk, but I'm not sure if that's allowed after the surgery... I have my surgery next Friday so I started drinking the protein shakes again today to get me in the habit.
