I am still new to the forum, I was sleeves on the 23rd of Oct. just curious at the variations in what the surgeons order for liquid phases. My phase 1 was Clear liquids. Started this just a few hours after surgery. For only 24 hours. Phase 2 cream liquids. Only for 10-14 days depending toleration. Phase 3 soft foods/purée 10-14 days depending toleration Phase 4 regular food. This is all less than a month before I was told I would be back to normal foods. Is that too soon? I see people much longer. Also I'm very lucky to have had no problems in tolerating, except for Protein pudding which did hurt my belly at 4 days post op.

Will be the day that changes my entire life. I, like most of you all, have struggled with my weight for most of my life. I was the heavier chick in school. Up until my junior year. Then all of a sudden it just fell off over summer break. It was awesome. Then I graduated. At that time I started having horrific debilitating migraines. Irregular menstrual cycles, and crazy hair growing everywhere. PCOS and Psuedo Tumor Cerebri (they said). For those who may not know what Psuedo tumor cerebri is, it's basically too much spinal Fluid putting pressure on your brain, sort of acting like a tumor. STEROIDS is the 'magic medicine' my neurologist put me on. "It will cure it al…

Hello all, I'm 7 days post surgery...I'm so happy I'm feeling better but nobody told me that I would have terrible shoulder pain from the gas inserted into my stomach during surgery would be so painful. It was more painful than childbirth..LOL my shoulder still aches but the pain is manageable because I'm active and walked daily. I slept on my back for 5 days straight because turning on my sides just hard so bad and I could fill my port moving. I really did not drink or eat much Soup for the first 5 days because of my shoulder pain. After the 6 day, I decided to eat kid cup of sugar free ice cream and had no problems. I also made some devil eggs on Sunday and was able to…

Hi everyone, I should be done with all the preop requirements mid December and my insurance coordinator will submit to to blue cross federal. I'm kinda thinking I may get denied the first round cause my bmi 2 years ago was 33.6. Now it's 36 and I've had chronic high blood pressure for many years. I take 2 meds a day for it. I'm a little worried because I travel for work with trips planned in December and January. I'm so afraid of blood clots and that's always been a huge concern for me. Has anyone else traveled within a few weeks of surgery or have you gotten any direction from your physician? I'd appreciate any comments. Thanks!

So just prior to the surgery, I was super excited. People who I told were, like "Are you nervous?" and I wasn't. But after a while, everyone being nervous for me, was making me start to questions whether I should, in fact, be nervous. I finally decided no, I had done my research, found a great surgeon, and a fantastic hospital. He's record is amazing, with no deaths, and half the complications of average. At the hospital, it went relatively smoothly. All the nurses and physicians assistants would ask me what I was getting, my name, and my birthday. The hardest part for me was getting the IV put in. My veins tend to be small and deep, so they tried on my right hand, no d…

Dont know what I am feeling. Mixture of doubt and excitement. Highest weight now and I don't know what else to do. Get xrays and ekg same day. Then dietician about a week from now. Got psych paperwork to fill out. I never binged on food so some of the questions seemed aimed at that. I make poor choices and dont exercise. Any one else feel that way?

I had the gastric bypass last Monday October 27. It has been an up and down week for me. The surgery went really well for me the only pain I had was gas. As soon as I got to my admitting floor after recovery I was like ok! I'm getting up going to walk and go to the bathroom. Long story short even though I was up and walking and using the spirometer my lungs ended up collapsing and prolonging my stay. I am home now and at first the only thing I wanted was water. Now I want to try everything! I wanted to just bite and chew then spit things out no one will know right? My boyfriend is eating Pizza Hut in front of me right now and my head is saying just try it you haven't ate…

Hey there! My name is Enjoli. I'm 30 years old and had gastric bypass done on October 27. So far I'm down 22 pounds. It's been an up and down recovery. I busted an internal stitch which resulted in me not being able to sit up straight all week. Then a few days ago I woke up covered in hives. Apparently I'm allergic to the hydrocodone they gave me. Hopefully I'm on the mend. Nice to meet you all!

Hello WLS family I'm new here. I had my sleeve on 10/28 and my start weight was 294 after my pre-op I was 281 day of surgery. 5 days after surgery I was and still is 270. I'm only doing water, protein, (not the full 60) and broth. So why would I not be losing weight? Anyone have this problem?

Sleeve Nov 4, 2014. I am still in the hospital as I type this very moment. Wow I can only say wow. I have been truly blessed. The surgery went very well and I have had basically no pain! I expected to hurt but I haven't at this point. Mild discomfort but more like soreness than true pain. I walked the night of surgery then over 1/2 mile just in the halls today. Was on ice chips only until leak check this morning then moved onto one oz of juice or clear liquid. Nurse told me I have been the best sleeve patient she has had and I didn't even act or look like I had just had major surgery.-Dr made second round this evening and said I was doing well and tomorrow we would try si…

I'm now 5 weeks post op and have had everything go wrong. A few weeks post op I started throwing up bile. Long story short - they had to remove my gallbladder and I spent 8 days in the hospital because it didn't help with the throwing up. I'm currently home because we weren't seeing any progress at the hospital and I'm still throwing up bile multiple times a day. Went to see a GI specialist today and going to try another new medicine. Can hardly drink anything and I feel so discouraged because I want to drink, but I just throw it up. If anyone has suggestions on drinks - I would really appreciate it! Trying to eat (dr gave the ok to eat whatever I want) every 2…

as of today I made it! to halfway, the better half. my band removal to sleeve surgery was 5 months ago. my band was 7 years ago and ended up leaking and created bulemia. I could never tell if I could eat, overeat, or vomit after 2 bites, and couldnt get below 202. I am so thankful I did this, tho it is still far from easy and I have a lot of GERD. Happy to be in onederland, even happier to try on clothes from 20 yr ago, triple happy to have hope for my future. my wonderful hourglass figure is not here yet, but it is so much better overall, and my dowager's hump is almost gone. I shall be looking into some plastics and such, but for now, I feel my path is bright. love sara

Hi Everyone, I am seeing my surgeon in 2 days to go over the final instructions and book my surgery. I'm hoping for 11/21.To say I'm nervous is an understatement but I know this has to happen! I would love to talk with others who have had or are going to have the bypass surgery. I am also having hiatal hernia and gallbladder done at the same time (honestly that's how this all started) and if I could find others who've had that as well that would be even better. Please send me a message as it seems the easiest way to communicate here (so far). Thanks so much and I wish you all happiness and success!

My insurance requires a six month process before surgery. I just had my third visit so half way there. I'm so impatient I just wanna get it done already. I've decided on the sleeve after lots of research I feel that is the best option for me. I love reading everyone's stories and appreciate all the honesty from individual experiences. I'm 5'2" at 246lbs. Can't wait to share my journey after surgery.

I was looking forward to starting my lifestyle change this weekend, but we have a family emergency.. I was supposed to start my pre-op Sunday 11/9 and have my sleeve on 11/24. Now I start my pre-op on 12/22 and Surgery on 1/5/15. Even though I'm really bummed, FAMILY first. At least somebody else gets to go in earlier than they thought.

My wife and I are both getting sleeves on December 3rd. My Dr sent me for weight management, due to type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, bp, cholesterol, etc... my wife's came along to support me, and after discussing surgery, she decided to take the leep, too. We are so close now, she still needs to lose a few pounds this week, due to some bad advice from her nutritionist, but we are both working hard to hit her goal. Yesterday, I had an ultrasound, which revealed polyps in my gallbladder, so that will be removed, too. Hers was removed like 15 years ago, so not worried about that, either, been there, done that, and have her support, so I'm good with that. (Mostly, l…

Tomorrow I have my first fill. I am so excited! But... I'm also nervous wondering if this will hurt! Did it hurt you guys and did you feel pain with the tightening? How much do they generally put in for a first fill and do you feel it as being effective? I am definitely eating less food but does the first fill make a difference? How many fills did it take you to get to your "point" of comfort for loosing weight?

I had my final meeting with my surgeon and she is sending my stuff off for final approval. I should be having surgery in 4 to 5 weeks. I did think it was odd that my doc said she didn't think I could get to goal weight of 210 with lapband. I weigh 437. She said I'd probably weigh 300. I'm going to work damn hard to prove her wrong.

Hi! My name's Kerry and I'm having the RNY on November 11th. I have been fighting me weight since I was a little girl. Diagnosed with pcos, insulin resistance, and hypothyroidism 9 years ago and being unable to fight the pounds that just keep on piling on regardless what I eat or how I exercise has been very depressing. With 4 grown kids and 2 little grandchildren I decided it was way past time to take control of my life. My husband is so very supportive as are my friends. I feel very blessed. I am glad to have found this support group. I have had a lot of questions answered and feel better knowing there are others who have felt the same way.

Hello all. my name is morgan (obviously). I'm 29 years old. Diabetic, PCOS, high blood pressure.. Everything fun of course. I have Kaiser and did the 12weeks Options class over the summer and ended at the end of September. Last Tuesday, October 28th I had my consult appt with my surgeon, and he surprisingly had a cancellation and was able to fit me in on November 4th. Talk about nerveracking . soo quick. I started at 256 at the beginning of my options classes, did Protein shakes for a week to drop weight and ended up being 242 by the end of the classes. I made my appt for last Tuesday on the previous Friday and wanted to make sure I was still 242 a because if he saw in…

I have a BMI of 41 and once that number was told to me I cried knowing I allowed myself to get this big. I have struggled my whole life with weight and come from a family where everyone is smaller and I am the big girl. I take after my dad. It's was rough....but now I am ready to change my life around. Only thing I gotta wait til Nov for my sleeve due to insurance. But it's all good cuz I know it will be here before I know it. Anyone else new and waiting like myself .....

So I know I just had the surgery on Tuesday and its only been two days, but getting in n our of bed hurts, laughing, coughing, and deep breaths even hurt. Can anyone shed some light as to when this pain will subside. I can't walk long periods of time, or I end up more and more hunched over. My liquid codene just makes me fall asleep, and I'm already lying in bed so it hurts less anyways so to me its n making much of a difference. Also I've had stomach gas since I got out of surgery. When I was in the hospital they were the sharpest pains ever. And I still have them on and off. Sorry if its TMI, but does anyone have any suggestions to alleviate that problem at leas…

finished everything October 23 with surgeon. Had to have a pre approval clearance with the PCP. finished and dropped off Oct. 28. Kept calling my Insurance to see if papers had been received. The reply was NO sorry....so called my surgeon3 times before I could get a real person on the phone. Was told today they have 4-6 weeks to submit and get approval back and then wait for the surgeon.... Probably the end of January but more likely February and depending how long the insurance takes the end of February. Started the process with them in June. Insurance required a 3 month diet which got prolonged another month due to an uncooperative co worker.(didn't like who they were p…

Hi everyone! My name is Stacey, I'm 34 yrs old and just had the gastric bypass on 10/28/14. I was 271 when I started my journey, and I was 250 the morning of my surgery. I weighed myself when I got home, big mistake lol. I was 266! I didn't realize that all of the gas and fluids from the hospital would do that, I kind of freaked out! I weighed myself the next morning and it was down to 259, and I am trying so hard not to check it again until my first post-op appt. So far I really have not had much pain, except for last night (Halloween) because I did a little more walking than I should have. The only problem I seem to be running into is that I'm not getting that "full" …

Not quite sure how this all works so I'm just going to jump right in. I have been in such need to just talk and get these crazy feelings off my chest that I feel like I'm literally going to explode! Just a little background, I have been overweight since puberty and have never had the nerve or strength to even talk about it out loud without feeling completely crushed, sad, just extremely disappointed... The bullying at school as early as elementary may have had some negative impact on my life and self esteem. I really had no one to understand me...all my family was thin. So since I knew there was such a thing called gastric bypass, I was mini obsessed. I just knew I had to…
