Variation in liquid stage times

I am still new to the forum, I was sleeves on the 23rd of Oct. just curious at the variations in what the surgeons order for liquid phases.

My phase 1 was Clear liquids. Started this just a few hours after surgery. For only 24 hours.

Phase 2 cream liquids. Only for 10-14 days depending toleration.

Phase 3 soft foods/purée 10-14 days depending toleration

Phase 4 regular food.

This is all less than a month before I was told I would be back to normal foods. Is that too soon? I see people much longer.

Also I'm very lucky to have had no problems in tolerating, except for Protein pudding which did hurt my belly at 4 days post op.

  • Be kind to your sleeve and it will be kind to you, and chew, chew, chew! Good luck!

  • I too was on regular solids on day 15. It was a big learning curve. Now we are at week 7 and I'm still struggling with many solid foods, but it's manageable.

My phase one is clear liquids two days.

Phase two bariatric liquids seven days.

Phase three pureed foods three weeks.

Phase four soft foods four weeks.

Phase five regular foods.

1. clear liquids in hospital

2. full liquids as soon as I got home

3. purees at 10 days

4. soft at 21 days

5. whole foods (but not raw) at 4 1/2 weeks

6. raw foods at 3 months

I was on regular foods as tolerated within two - three weeks. I had no problems.

Mine is -

-2 weeks: clear liquids and skim/1% milk

-2 weeks: full liquids

-2 weeks: purees

-2 weeks: soft foods

then you gradually phase in regular food as tolerated. I'm a few days out from purees and I cannot WAIT to get to soft foods - I miss chewing!

I kinda added purée into my full liquids. And have been doing soft foods. Saw my surgeon today and he said my food log looked ok. So I guess I'm following the rules.
