2 week pre op diet starts today

Is anyone else starting their 2 week pre op diet today? I am had a protein shake for breakfast and have bars for my snacks. Dinner is chicken and broccoli. What are you eating? Has anyone found any high protein soups that you like and want to share with me? I get tired of the sweet. Anything other tips are appreciated as well?

Is anyone else that is on the pre surgery liquids only diet having bad headache & a wired feeling/fluttery heart feeling? Is it just detoxing or?!?! It's not bad but kind of odd....

I start my liquid diet tomorrow! I hope I can do it I know I need to ! He is what that told me to follow!

-High Protein Drink- must be 5 grams of sugar or less and less than 200 calories per 8 ounces

Examples include: Adkins Advantage, No Sugar Added Carnation Instant Breakfast, Boost Glucose Control, Glucerna, Enterex, Light Muscle Milk, American whey, Protein Blitz, EAS Carb Control)- limit to 2-3 per day and use as a Meal Replacement

Clear Liquid Items:

Sugar-free Jello

Sugar-free Popsicles

Broth

Crystal Light

Coffee or Tea (may use artificial sweetener)

Water

regular coffee and tea (regular and decaf) will not be allowed for 3 weeks post-op, but you may drink decaffeinated coffee

Full Liquid Items:

98% Fat-Free Cream Soup (or Campbell’s Healthy Request)

Skim, ½% or 1% milk or skim Lactaid

Yogurt- low sugar or low carb, fat-free or low-fat (ex. Fiber One yogurt, Dannon Light and Fit Greek yogurt)

Diet pudding (sugar-free, made with skim milk)

Cream of Wheat or Grits

Plus I was wondering I got some body by vi does any one have and good receipts we can use it with to stay on liquid diet ! Thanks surgery date nov 5

My 15 day liquid pre-op diet starts tomorrow. It's basically all Protein shakes, flavored Water. Allowed to have 2 Snacks a day of either: yogurt, pudding, jello or creamed soup. Capped at 1000 calories a day.

Question for liquid dieters --- "creamed soup"??? What exactly is that? I'm thinking that means like Cream of Broccoli, Cream of Celery, Cream of Mushroom. Right? I bought a few but thought, this is odd. They're so high in sodium and like 1 gram of protein. Why would this be on the list? Just wondering if there were any other brilliant ideas of what you've tried as creamed Soups. Thank you!

Last day of my pre op diet and tomorrow is surgery!!! It went by really fast, I am scared and excited and nervous!!!

Will be thinking about you tomorrow. Good luck and God bless.

I am so jealous! I'm starting my Pre-Op diet in 10 days and it consists of:

-4-6 Boost Diabetic

-Water

-Flavored water as long as it's no calorie.

That's it for FOUR weeks! I'm beginning to think my surgeon is trying to torture me lol

I am actually going to email my team and ask of I can have homemade chicken stock without salt to cut all the sweet through out the day. Or maybe even juicing vegetables too, as long as I stay under the 1200 calorie a day target.

We will see! Good luck guys! You can do it!!

Sheena :-)

So my response from my Surgical Team to have broth or juiced vegetables was "Absolutely Not! Boost Diabetic and water ONLY!"

Yikes! I'm on day 3 and it's okay so far... I would just love something warm like broth or tea to cut the sweet.

But this is only a small blip of time in my life, and I can do this!

Good luck everyone!

Sheena :-)

My doc had me drink 3 meal replacement shakes a day. 1 frozen lean (diet) entree a day. One small piece of fruit or 1/2 c no sugar added canned fruit. 1 lite yogurt. One cup of veggies (not corn or potatoes)

It's weird how different the surgeons diets are mine was bars or shakes. I lost 15lbs on my diet and the surgeon said my liver was a little large still but that will continue to improve u mean he could tell by my weight loss I stuck to it. So I don't think there are any guarantees. I'll pray for you! It's just 2 weeks you can do this!!!

I know what you mean, wanting to cut the taste of sweets. I'm allowed broth and it very much does what you say. Odd suggestion but maybe try heating up water or the flavored water so it will seem like tea?

You CAN do this. Yes, I hear all sorts of variations from different surgeons. My best friend had this in July at another hospital but same network. She only had to do liquids a couple days before. However, she was also constantly scared that last week about gaining weight. I knew, going on 2 week liquid, there's no danger of that :-)

You've got this - you can do it!

@Ekide It went fine. How are you doing ?

I can't type:

@Elode. It went fine. How are you doing?
