  1. I had my surgery on Monday the 17th. Yesterday was absolutely terrible with the gas pains and everything, but I'm doing much better now. No leaks, and I was able to come home early this morning. I do have some questions though about the first couple of weeks. I'm supposed to get in 60 grams of protein plus 64 oz of water in, but I'm truly struggling to get this down. It took me several hours to drink 8 oz of milk with protein powder, and I felt so extremely full that I can't imagine drinking anything else for a while. How did you guys get in all of your requirements the first week?? Every sip of anything I take makes my stomach gurgle in a very uncomfortable way. Was th…

Tmrw I will see a new Dr. I will be going to the WLI of Az. I just felt like my other Drs office dropped the ball too many times, I felt like I was the surgery coordinator. I had to call and notify them of insurance approval, and they failed to call me w/my time for EGD, which I even called 2 days prior to remind them, and still no call back day of. So hopefully tmrw I will feel better w/my decision. I've had to jump thru lots of hoops to get this far, now to start all over again! Maybe it's a sign?? Idk...fingers crossed.

I also have high BP. I want the surgery, but my kids are against it. I still have the phscologist in Dec. What words of wisdom do you have for me.

  6. Well, I went to the Seminar with my sister. We meet with the surgeon and both decided to take this journey. We have a tentative date of January 2015 to have the surgery. Dr. Greco will be performing my surgery and I am getting the VSG surgery. I am a little nervous about the whole process but am ready.

I have controlled asthma, plantar fasciitis, arthritis in my ankles, yeast infections, abcesses and a bum left knee. I was skinny and athletic all my life even after 3 kids. However, at age 37, I left a bad marriage and was put on Paxil to help deal with anxiety and depression. So I have been told that I have to have surgery prior to getting another surgery. I have never considered WLS in the past because I have always been able to keep my weight down with diet and exercise.....until I had a colon resection that I have yet to heal from. The last year has been a painful reminder that I am getting older and unable to recover like I used to. Because of my colon resection, I am unable to get the bypass surgery so my only option is the sleeve. I hope that it will be enough of a tool to help me lose this weight so I can get my second surgery done and on with my life. I have a four month wait period because my insurance still says that this is an elect…

I'm sure my story isn't too different from anyone else's story but it's been on my heart to share it so here it goes. I've been overweight for many years. What started as simply overweight has morphed to morbid obesity. I've tried almost every weight loss program available from Deal-A-Meal when I was a teen to Ideal Protein at 40. I was always able to have moderate success with every program but I just couldn't maintain. After my latest failure with Ideal Protein I decided to look into the origins of when I started to overeat and why. This was profound. I started by writing the down the years of my life on a timeline. Then I went back and I wrote in my weight in eac…

I didn't drink soda and switched to healthy eating. The weight wAs difficult to get off. Finally I was approved for surgery and started my 2 week clear liquid only. I have certainly had my share of ups an downs but for the most part I'm happy with my results. I still struggle with the diet portion of not really knowing what's best to eat and when. I feel like I'm starving 24-7 and my surgeon has not been of any help to me. So if anyone could share ideas or what you eat/drink in a 24 hour period I would greatly appreciate it.

This may be long – that sums up my background. This is a paper that I wrote in 2011 for an English class when I first entered college (I graduate in May 2015). Addiction His doctor said, "You're at a crossroads. You either lose weight or die." A sinking feeling enveloped him. He had a family; his reason for being. The struggle to battle his addiction had plagued him through his childhood years, through high school, up until the present day. And now, after years of excess, the doctor had delivered the final ultimatum. His thoughts drifted back through the decades of struggling with his weight and suffering as a social outcast. The classic retail store reference to…

Hey everyone. I have been lurking on this site since I started my journey in March but I have not posted at all. I'm not really the "share my feelings" type. I'm trying to work on that so here goes. Like most of us, I simply decided enough is enough in my life and it was time to start living. After about three years of research on wls I finally made the decision to be healthy. I have lost about 40 lbs. on my six month pre-op diet and I feel much better! This success makes me feel cautiously optimistic. There are so many things I want to be able to do; sky diving, triathlons, scuba diving. I am under the goal the nutritionist sent for me and 1.5 pounds away from my original goal of 100 pounds lost. Too bad I couldn't get rid of that last pound for today! I even was able to buy this new tunic in size small, I can't even believe that's a thing I can do now! I won't lie, thus far my journey has been easy. I eat what I want, in small quantities and don't have to exercise every day and the weight has been coming off consistently and without worry (but I'm pretty laid back regardless). It's been an emotional weekend. Received the phone call Friday around 3, that the anesthesiologist is concerned about my heart because it's enlarged and wants me at the hospital in the morning for a ct. Today I've had a lot of anxiety, dizzy headedness, and basically, my nerves are just shot. Although, I haven't admitted it to anyone, I'm scared. I've never had health issues, so finding out about my heart 4 days before surgery has thrown me for a loop. With that said, slowly packing a bag, because tomorrow will determine if I have my sleeve Tuesday morning or not.

I also have a infusion pain pump (which will be coming out hopefully next month) and live with chronic nerve pain daily. I lost 30 lbs on my own in 3 months before my surgery as they suggested, so my weight day of surgery was 242. At the time, it was meant to be an incentive to lose weight because it was at least two sizes too small. But today when I went to put it on, it’s about two sizes too large! I still love the dress and will continue to wear it, but it being so loose is making me happy.
