How much are you losing over what time period??? I want to understand the rate that people are losing weight over time. For example I lose 2-3 lbs. every 2 weeks. It seems like its gotten into a regular rhythm.

I'm needing to get my butt in gear and start working out on a regular basis. I would love to hear what program you are using especially if you are doing a DVD at home. I just can't bring myself to go to a gym right now. I hate treadmills and I don't like walking outside. Once I meet with my surgeon on Monday, I'm hoping she will clear me (I had an infection at my big incision) to start with more core work. I've been doing some Leslie Sansone but I'm getting bored even though I can't get through a whole program yet.

I am 2 wks post op and just progressed to a soft diet. Has anyone else had the feeling of something being stuck in their throat? It has felt this way all day. I can drink and swallow foods just fine and have been taking small bites and chewing thoroughly. Just curious if this was a common "feeling" or not?

Hey guys, I'm not entirely sure where else to turn to, but I need help. I genuinely feel garbage since I have not been strictly following my diet plan. I'm down 56lbs since my last visit(1 week ago today), and I understand that I need to follow the nutritionist's plan, and yet I can't for the life of me break some of these terrible habits. I've never really been one to eat multiple meals throughout the day, I typically wouldn't eat for the day, have one meal, and then that'd be it. Now, I can't do that, obviously, and it is turning into me just not eating, but when I do, it's the wrong thing. I don't eat sweets, in fact, since the surgery my tolerance of sweet …

Hi all, Sorry in advance for the TMI I am 10 days post op and I visited my dietician yesterday. She said since I was eating yogurt and pudding and keeping it down, I can slowly introduce purée into my diet. Yesterday ate puréed chicken and mashed potatoes (about 3 spoons of each). I seemed to be fine yesterday (I ate around 5 pm). However, I woke up at 4 in the morning and it felt as if my esophagus was burning and I had a weird taste in my mouth (close to vomit). I woke up in the morning and my stomach has been in knots and I feel cramps. Throughout the day it went away. I have been drinking a lot of water but I’m not 100%. I didn’t eat a thing except hot ch…

I've been walking a lot more lately and my ankles turn into cankles and my fingers turn into sausages and I can't my wedding ring that is generally super loose on me off. I've been drinking tons of water! Why does exercise cause edema? I used to get it when I drank wine but sheesh. Anyone else have this problem?

I am just over 2 wks post op RNY bypass. Did really well, had no major issues until the past 2 days. I was getting in my fluids and protein in acceptable amounts for where I am in the process. Then, 2 days ago, I started gagging on all fluids. I do manage to keep small amounts down. As strange as it sounds I have no problem with the purees and soft foods just thin fluids. I have tried the different temps and nothing seems to agree with me. Any thoughts on how to handle this or how long to continue trying before calling my surgeon?

Hi Friends, My surgery was a month ago. I lost quite fast the first 2.5 weeks (23 lbs.). I stopped losing since then. I go to the gym almost every day for kickboxing classes and treadmill and have been eating based on the guidelines (even less). Is it common to plateau on weeks 3 and 4 after a large weight loss in the first two weeks or am I doing something wrong? Thanks!

Hi everyone - trying to plan ahead for Yom Kippur next week - 26h of fasting (food and water). Years past, I would stuff myself leading up to it, and then gorge at its end. Now being about 3 months post-VSG, I need a new strategy. No way to overstuff myself before or after - for better and for worse! Anyone with tips for a full-day fast after WLS?

I am getting extremely frustrated. Please let me know if this experience is unique to me. I am 2 weeks post op, and I have not lost any weight in the second week. I know there is a 3 week stall is it possible to have a stall in the second week. I am not getting consistent information from the surgeon about my nutritional requirements and I am concerned because I am not feeling restricted on liquids and maybe I am over doing it. I was not having regrets, but I am starting to now. Also, I am able to start purees tomorrow and not sure what I can and cant have. I have another weird situation. My primary care doctor is the director of a nutritional and weight loss prog…

Hi all I'm new here. I just found you all and super excited to be apart of this group.[emoji7] I have a question... I am 3.5 weeks out from being sleeved I initially lost 19lbs in my 1st 2 weeks. Now I have lost only 2 lbs on the last 1.5 weeks. Should I be losing more? am I eating wrong? I am barely able to eat more than 3 ounces of anything.

Hey, all you post-ops out there! What are your favorite items - things you cannot/couldn't do without since the surgery - and why? Do you have a particular water bottle you love? What kind is it? Are you way into your FitBit or other fitness device? Are there any item recommendations you would make to pre-ops or recent post-ops that you wish you knew about?

Hi all, I had the gastric sleeve done April 26, 2017 and due to some complications my sleeve was coverted to a gastric bypass on July 3,2017. My weight on the day of surgery In April was 253 and my weight the day of surgery for the bypass was 228. It been over anyear since the surgery and my cutrent weight is 113 lbs and i am 5’ 6” and I continue to keep losing. I'm sorry if you've been asked this already but has anyone regretted their surgery, with no complications? I have a bit of a love affair with food, it's such a part of my social life with my family and friends, we eat out a lot, we gather round the table for family meals every day, we celebrate with food, we comfort with food, we make up with food... jeez it's all about food. How do you deal with this and did any of you regret it or miss that side of things?

We will be visiting family for Christmas this year and I will be at the solid foods stage by then. They are all about the food, their cooking means so much to them if you don’t have something then they will get upset. I’ve looked up most of the nutritional info on the foods and have found some I can eat and others to avoid. The ones I am most unsure of is lumpia (egg rolls) because of the wrapper and pancit because it is noodles. I’m concerned the noodles or wrapper might get hung up or swell up, what do you think? I can bypass them, no problem, but asking just to make sure. Please don’t think I am asking because I want to return to the foods that made me fat. I di…

I searched for this topic but didn't find any postings. Next week I have to attend a three day business meeting away from home. This will include all day meetings (where I am very comfortable bringing my own stuff from home to eat) but also dinners out. I'm not comfortable bringing my own food into a nice restaurant and the only option I see is not eating at all-which may make others feel slightly odd. I'm concerned if I tried to order from the restaurant, it would still be high in sugar or fat and I could have a bad reaction. Has anyone else been through this? Any suggestions of what to order that has worked well (on pureed diet phase) or should I just enjoy…

Hi everyone! Let me start by saying that I had the Gastric Sleeve done a little over two weeks ago. I've been cleared for soft foods, and I've found that I have a great deal of restriction in my sleeve. It's always been a dream of mine to thru-hike the Pacific Crest Trail or Appalachian Trail. I hike on a regular basis already, but I'm wondering if a thru-hike will be possible with my new anatomy? Some problems that I am foreseeing is that I would have to eat a ton of calories every day since I would be hiking pretty much all day for 5 months straight. Like I said, I have a pretty good amount of restriction with my sleeve now, so I imagine this part may be …

I’ve lost 80+ lbs so far and have hit a stall (about a month) anyways I feel like I’m still loosing weight be clothes fit smaller and all that but the scale says differently. I’m thinking that I’m gaining muscle but not positive. I guess my question is has anyone else had that problem?

I had VSG on August 30th everything went well, no complications. I was sent home the next day. I have been doing everything I was told to do, walk, exercise lungs, clear liquids the first 2 days the after you can have pudding popsicles etc. Now it’s been 5 days since the surgery but I’m still having a hard time. I’m still in pain, a lot of pain Only in the place where all the action happened though. It hurts to breathe, cough, sneeze, laugh, or even move. It hurts when sitting up or if I try to stand straight up. I don’t know why but I feel like I should be feeling better even if it’s just the tiniest bit. I don’t feel sick or have a fever it’s just the pain and it’s not …

Ok, so this might be a little odd since pretty much all the posts about "hair" are about hair loss, so far, a few weeks shy of 6 months and I haven't had any hair loss. I have noticed *MORE* Hair or at least the appearance if more hair... body hair. Has anyone else noticed that their body hair appears to have increased? I read that it might be pore density, which sounds plausible at least, the whole, same amount of hair folicles/pores that are now closure together due to the weight loss. Anyone else have any thoughts, insight, comments, experiences with the appearance of more body hair?

So for those who've lost a lot of weight, do you feel like you looked/felt better overweight vs now having loose skin? I had Gastric sleeve in 2015 and lost 120lbs but now I'm not losing any more and actually gaining so thinking of Gastric Bypass. I'm 250lbs and was wondering if it's worth it considering I started at 370lbs, I'm smaller at least and worried that if I lose more I might regret it due to loose skin. I really hope I don't sound vain I obviously know that it's about being healthy but at the same time I don't want to go through this whole thing all over again and feel worse about myself.

I am two weeks post op. Down 27 lbs. went back to work today. Work in an orthopedic office placing casts, splints and braces on patients. Gotta a little winded, arms are sore and was a little low on energy a couple times today. Had help and am glad I did!!! My surgeon said that soft, scrambled eggs, refried beans, smooth peanut butter and grits are fine on my plan now. I was one week clear liquids, one week full liquid and purée /soft foods. He said to start reprogramming my chewing mechanism. Question is what else would be appropriate during this time? I have no NUT so I am relying heavily on you all. It also has a lot of different vitamins in it. They are the perfect little size to fill me up. They are the right amount for breakfast with my sleeved stomach. They also have 3 grams of protein.

Surgery date- 8/22/18 I went to the gym yesterday and did the treadmill for 30 minutes. It was soooo boring but I knew it was all I could do for the time being. I had to slow down my speed because I could feel my left side tightening up. When did everyone start going to the gym after their surgery? When were you able to do weight bearing exercises? Are most of you going to the gym or losing the weight from the diet alone?

Hello! I'm trying to plan ahead for my first week back with students after having some trouble staying on plan this past week at work. Hi, Pals. For those who are a bit further ahead of me, I was wondering if you could help answer two questions. My surgery was August 29th so I just came home from hospital yesterday. First-hand I weighed myself on the morning of the surgery and after the 2-week liver shrinking diet and the two day liquid diet- my weight going into surgery was 231. I weighed myself this morning and I have shot back up to 244.5. And I have "eaten" ok not clear liquids and protein shakes since surgery. I was thinking this may be bloating and trapped gas, but not sure. Did anyone else have this? When did you start to see the weight decline? Second questions- when I try to wear …

Hi! So I'm 3 weeks post op (DS but Sleeve as far as this is concerned), going into the 4th week. I'm basically still on full liquids, since I can't comfortably drink more than 4-5 oz at a time, and can't really consume more than a few spoonfuls of thicker-liquids/purees. At what point should I expect to be able to consume purees or thicker liquids in any reasonable quantity? I'm supposed to be able to move to solid foods at six weeks post-op, but at this rate, I don't see that happening.

Hey everyone! Just got back from the hospital today after receiving my magic sleeve powers on Tuesday 8/28. My only fear going in was that they were going to peep inside and find that my liver was too gigantic and slippery to proceed with the surgery, at which point I would have promptly yanked the IV from my arm and lowered myself onto the nearest corndog in defeat. I stayed very faithful to the food and calorie intake as prescribed by the 2-week pre-op diet to make sure I did all I could do to avert disaster. What I didn't do apparently was drink at least 64oz of water during those days to ensure I was properly hydrated for the moment. The surgery went well, …
