I've been walking a lot more lately and my ankles turn into cankles and my fingers turn into sausages and I can't my wedding ring that is generally super loose on me off. I've been drinking tons of water! Why does exercise cause edema? I used to get it when I drank wine but sheesh. Anyone else have this problem?

What's a "ton" of Water exactly?
If it's not upwards of 128oz... it's not enough.

Are you taking any electrolytes? Are you consuming lots of salts?

I watch my salts. I physically can't fit 128 ounces and be able to eat during the day. I think the past few days I've gotten about 90 in. I try to wait the 30 mins after eating and then start drinking again but I feel super full/sick if I don't wait about an hour or so. The doc said this can be hereditary as my grandmother had really horrible edema all the time, but this is only when I exercise and gets worse the harder or longer I go. I've been increasing my walking from 4 miles to 6 miles but it has been humid here in New England lately.

Even as a teenager I had trouble with my hands swelling when I exercised. I weighed around 150 and have always drunk tons of Water. (Yes, Matt, way more than 128!) How is your blood pressure? That's the one thing that has always been "off" for me. Very low.

Sorry, CRAZY week! That's the thing, VERY low blood pressure, like today it was 88/44. I talked to my other doctor and Dr. Google and low blood pressure can definitely cause it too. I've been wearing those pressure stocking things. I'll just keep drinking Water, elevating and watching my salt intake. So annoying.

I also experience this as well in my ankles, knees, and fingers. It usually subsides within an hour after a work out. I've never gotten a good answer from the doctor.

My PCP really is not helpful, I'm looking for a new one, she never listens to me, I get better advice from my chiropractor. But since edema runs in my family I'm not surprised but I've asked and they don't get it from exercise. It's not the humidity though because it's been cool/cold when I've been out exercising lately.

Weather doesn't affect mine either. I'd be curious to hear the answer if you ever get one.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
