I was sleeved 11/29/17.. I have lost a total of 96 lbs and I have been stalled for the last 5 weeks at the same weight.. I have tried incorporating more to my workouts and nothing is helping.. I am getting really discouraged and have been making poor food/drink choices the last few weeks! I really need to get back on track and start losing again but I don’t know what to do!!! Am I done losing? I still weigh 228 lbs and that isn’t anywhere close to my goal :(

Hi all. Six weeks post op from the sleeve and feeling. Depressed today. Was supposed to have dinner with family last night but it’s tonight. Italian restaurant. I’m still adjusting to this new way of life-not being able to eat whatever I want. I know where it got me-it’s just such a big adjustment. I feel sad and almost in mourning today. For my old life. Trying to shake it. Anyone else been there done that?

HI! So my nutritionist told us in a group meeting to stay away from cauliflower and broccoli because it is gassy. I love cauliflower and being in my puree stage would love to have some. Has anyone had experiences eating cauliflower or broccoli in the pureed stage? I know I should follow what the NUT says but she also said something that was different than what my surgeon had said so I'm not sure??

Does anyone use Sparkpeople as their food tracker and/or have a recipe box on Sparkrecipes? I started using sparkpeople when about 9 years ago when I got really serious about my weight loss and I went on a 1200 calorie a day diet (along with the assistance of phentermine). I tracked everything I put in my mouth as well as my exercise. I lost a great deal of weight over the course of 1 year and kept if off for a bit only to let it slowly creep back on over the last 5 years. I'm planning on starting back now that I will be tracking my food intake after the sleeve (7/31). If anyone else has a recipe box, I would love to take a look. I will be meal planning and I'm…

I am 6 days post op and craving baked chicken & fish. Yesterday, I had Pho Chicken noodle soup delivered, I did strain the vegetables. The broth was delicious. Today my body went to a new level, graduated to bathroom use. So relieved. Now about these chicken and fish cravings, how long wii it last? My 2 week appt. is We’d. Aug. 22, 2018. Ready for next level!

Hey guys, I’m new to the site, I’m 3 weeks post op. I have been on liquids as a choice. However I’ve wanted to begin eating. I’ve been consistent in weight loss daily and I’ve exercised by walking for 20 minutes. I want a meatball but I’m afraid. Does anyone have ideas?

Random post op question. I don’t have sleep apnea and I just had my surgery Friday morning at 7:30am. It’s now Saturday morning and I’m trying to fall asleep (I’m SO tired), and every time I doze off for a moment I wake up to a somewhat deep breath and it wakes me up. It’s driving me nuts ? anyone else experience this ?

Hello! I am a little over 4 weeks post op and just started on purees. I know I'm not ready for bread right now but I'm wondering if one day I'll be able to have any. Does anyone have suggestions on brands/ types of bread?? Also, has anyone been able to eat a sandwich post op? Again, I know it's too early for that just wondering if its a possibility to still be able to eat a sandwich in general...Thanks!!!

Omg so I’m 6 days post sleeve still on liquids and I’m starving. I wasn’t expecting to feel hungry but I am. Idk all this sugar free stuff just turns me off to the point of starvation. I’d rather drink 3 cups of 1% milk a day -27 grams of protein and once I start purée gain my protein thru can chicken or fish, etc.- than drink another protein shake. I just ate some jello because I was so hungry I couldn’t sleep. I don’t feel weak or anything. Pain is pretty much gone. Any tips to fill full while on liquids. They literally run thru me. TMI but I’m experiencing lose bowels which I read was normal. ANYWAYS HELP.

I am currently on week 3 post gastric sleeve op and tbh I'm not a massive fan of puree food so been sticking to milk and soup. I've been away for a week so excited to weigh and it was only 1lb yet hardly eating anything. Could not eating enough cause weight loss to slow down? (Lost 26lbs prior)

I had my lap-band in 2013. Well about 5 months ago I kept throwing up and getting re-flux. I went to the dr and had to get all my fluid removed due to the band was dilated. Well after years of not being able to eat crap food I ate crap I shouldn't have. Well I had my first will 2 weeks ago since my unfilled. I have no hunger drive, the thought of food just makes me turn my head. I keep forcing myself to eat and its hard. In two weeks im down 20lbs.

I have lost quite a bit since surgery last month, but the past couple of days I've gained 3-4 pounds. I also started solids around the same time so I'm not sure if that's the cause. I'm terrified that I have already failed. Is this normal? I'm going crazy with fear!

I am 10 weeks out and have just been looking into my BMR. Apparently my BMR is right around 1700 calories for my weight and height. Right now I am talking in about 700-900 calories a day so way below my BMR. How does this work after having surgery? I don't think I can even get close to 1700 calories in a day. Do we not worry about BMR after surgery or should I be upping my calories? P.S. I have been losing slowly.

Hey my gastric bypass family! Boy what a rough day it was! Clearly my mind has to adjust to this new life style. Im legit having flashbacks of junk food in my head. Which is embarrassing I know ? I’m just 3 days out of surgery. I haven’t did the number 2 yet,, which I don’t know if it’s normal? But yeah I’m so sore, the surrounding of my incisions is turning a bit blue/green , cuz it was a deep cut so I think it’s just bruising.! But if somebody has an idea what it can be?? It would be welcome Ofcourse to top that off, I have my period ? Well my liquids are harder today. Yesterday I drank 2 liters of water. (I don’t do ounces, I’m from Europe! ) But toda…

Just a quick food tip - most of us know that Greek yogurt is a good food choice after WLS (higher in protein, goes down easy), but many brands with any flavor have a lot of added sugar. Skyr Icelandic Provisions is a new label for me, with great stats: in a big single-serving container (250g), it has 130 Cal, 11g sugar, 2g fat, and 15g protein. And it tastes great! Enjoy!

My nutrishionist told me they recommend counting carbs and fats after a year post op. I am 2 months post. Has anyone else been told this as well? If not what do you do carb wise daily? I am so worried to eat wrong and mess up my progress. I panic evertime I see a seasoning, tomato sauce or anything with carbs. Also, when did you begin exercising? Thank you all!

Ummm so I am one month post op. I haven’t really noticed an uptick in hair loss yet. However, today I was getting my hair done and my stylist asked, “have you always had this bald spot?” And I said, “Durrr uhhhh what?” So yeah- I’ve got a quarter sized bald spot in the back of my head. Could this be surgery related? I’m not talking shedding either- I’m talking BALD. Anyone else experience this? I’m starting to freak out that it may be Alopecia (thanks dr. google)! Photo evidence:

Stay away from the scale if you can. It will drive you insane. Try to look at your body in the mirror everyday instead of a number on the scale everyday. See if you can see a difference in the mirror instead of on the scale. Try weighing in every week or two. Take pictures every week with different clothes on.

In two days it will be three weeks since surgery. I actually have had a pretty easy time. I have not had nausea and have lost 28 pounds since surgery. I am not hungry and have to remind myself to eat every three hours. The problem is the depression. There are times I am perfectly fine and other times I just want to start crying. I think about the foods I will never indulge in again (I was an emotional eater) and I get very down. Is depression typical after surgery? What do you do to help snap yourself out of the funk? I have suffered from depression various times though out my life and take Prozac, but this gets to be very overwhelming, at times. Any suggestions…

Hey everyone Well I have done it. I took the leap of faith and now I’m on the other side. I got home this afternoon after 1 day stay. Lots of burping and passing gas. I’m so full for tea spoons of puréed chicken in broth , my stomach did feel sore because of it. Sipping water through the day and trying to walk. And also my focusing on my breathing and making sure I temperature myself. I was so scared before the surgery and so nervous , and now I’m at home trying to get through the first few days and slowly adjusting to this new life. Also I had a different name on here , few people managed to find me that I didn’t want for them to found out so I changed it. …

Hey all! I'm 8 days post surgery now, and just looked at some test results for the part of my stomach sent to the lab. Looks like I have chronic inflammation. I'm wondering if that accounts for how much I need to burp after I drink anything. Of course I'll ask my surgeon at my follow up about it too, but in the mean time. . . Has anyone found any sorts of drinks particularly soothing? So far plain, unsweetened yogurt seems to be the least irritating thing. Thank you!

Hey guys, I thought I would share what I’m taking to the nightstand. This is my second round for theses drinks, and I have a little bit of everything depending on what goes down good through the night. Having a variety ready has helped convenience. If the broth or tea cools down, I just warm up in the microwave. I’ll replenish in the morning and change it up a bit. But for the most part, I want to have protein and vitamin drinks at the ready. I also made hubby stop by Sonic and pick up a bag of ice to munch on. The ice has helped when my tum is angry after surgery...so has the warm drinks.

Question about taking vitamins. Can’t call my surgeons office u til tomorrow and that’s when I am to start so wanted to get opinions off here. I had gastric bypass on August 1, my surgeon told me to start the vitamins this up coming week. I purchased the Pro Carr One a Day from the office. Am I suppose to take calcium as well? I also was told from another person who had this surgery to start hair skin and nails. Does anyone take that just 12 post op?

Hey all!! Started my liquid diet on 7/23, got sleeved on 8/8. So total weight loss for now 22 lbs since liquid diet, 8 lbs since getting sleeved. Having a hard time drinking 3 protein shakes a day. It’s not that I can’t keep it down. I would just rather eat yogurt, pudding or broth. I drink up to 2 shakes at most. I know we need the shakes for protein and all. But how bad is it that I only drink 1.5-2 shakes a day? Visiting my dietician this Friday post-op. But what are your thoughts? I don’t eat much more than a few spoons of yogurt anyway. If I’m just not hungry is it okay to just not drink the shakes? Hate to force myself.

I have about 4 months left before I am eligible for surgery (12-month insurance requirement, ugh!) and I have been reading about rewards for meeting certain weight loss milestones. Right now I have an idea of rewards I want for specific markers below. I gave myself a couple of options for each depending on money/availability at the time. For those who have visualized their goals this way, what are your rewards? -15: Buy Fresh Flowers or a new perfume -25: New Gym outfit or buy a premium app on my phone -35: Massage, New hairstyle or buy a piece of artwork -50: Hockey Game, Glass Blowing or Pottery class -60: New Purse, flotation therapy or a new p…

My surgeon recommended once per week, and for my sanity it sounds like a good suggestion - a good way to try to focus on weekly trends rather than obsessing about every small fluctuation. I’m closing in on one week post-op, so the temptation to constantly weigh myself is DEFINITELY there! I’m wondering how often you weigh yourself, what helps you resist the urge to get on the scale daily or if you’ve found benefits from weighing in daily what are they? Thanks in advance!

So I was told that natural butter was better to use than say....margarine. And I haven't had any issues so far. But I read to avoid it. Though I thought butter, real butter, was better to grease a pan for say, eggs, rather than processed stuff like in margarine. Thoughts?

Hey guys, Long time lurker here. So i had my surgery on 1st of July of this year (1.5 months post op as of writing this post). My SW weight was 348lbs. I use to be a power lifter back in 2015 with 12% body fat. I gained all my weight during '16-'17 after something happened in my life. Now after the surgery i want to workout again (usually dead lifts and squats, mostly compound exercises). My incisions has healed well and i am walking around 2 miles a day. I despise walking to be honest so i was wondering is it OK to lift heavy weights that include core muscles after 1.5 months post op.

I’m 3 days post op from plication to bypass revision and am Miserable! Between the intense stomach cramps to the diarrhea, dry heaves and sweats, I can say this is not fun! Any recommendations? Please tell me this will get better. It seems I’m either sleeping or on the toilet. I’m trying to walk and get fluids down but between the other two things there just doesn’t seem to be the time.

So I'm in month 6 and I noticed lately I can eat a lot more without my stomach getting uncomfortable. Is this part of the natural healing process? Or maybe it's because I upped my exercise? How was YOUR appetite 6 months out? I don't need to be concerned do I? (Other than watching what and how much I eat? LOL)

I'm very nervous that something is wrong or my body is defective. I cant help but notice each day liquids go down more quickly and greater amount with zero problem. I haven't been nauseated, I haven't thrown up at all and I had serious restriction right after surgery up until day 5. Now on day 8, feeling hunger pains. Could I have stretched my pouch even this early and only on stage 2!?

Hi, everyone! I'm new to this community and WOW, what an incredible resource! I've been reading through posts for about a week and it's been really insightful. Thank you all! I'm trying to figure out my post-op support for when I'm released from the hospital and head home (I live alone). I know everyone is different, but how long did someone help you out at home after surgery before you felt like you were good to go on your own? If you have any other insights or considerations related to this as well, please let me know. Thanks so much!

Hello! I'm on day 7 post-op and I'm getting excited for when I can sign up for a gym and start working toward some fitness goals. I'm curious how long you all waited before returning to/starting to go to the gym after surgery. I'm feeling impatient to get back to it but also don't want to sign up and then go and realize I'm not ready yet. I also have a couple good coupons/offers for signing up with no fees, so I'm trying to estimate how long it'll be before I'm back and if/when to take advantage of them. Thanks!
