So I had a great first week, down 13 lbs and now I’ve been hovering around the same weight for about 2 weeks. I know stalls are normal but figured it would take longer than a week to hit one. I’ve had some non-scale victories too, so I’m not too down yet but it is starting to get to me. Any suggestions on breaking out of a stall? Is it normal to have one this early? Just feeling a little like, why did I do all this if I could have lost the same amount on weight watchers? I’ve been increasing activity this last week, but not approved for much exercise yet. Getting 500-600 calories a day and plenty of water. Thanks guys!

I’m 6 weeks post op today. I’ve lost weight but feel like I should’ve lost more considering I eat so little. I was wondering how much others have lost up to this point and even 3...6...9...12 months etc. I KNOW it’s not the same for everyone AND they people who are bigger/smaller lose weight at different paces. I’m just looking for motivation to look forward to eventually losing more. Thanks in advance!

So 2 of my 6 incisions are infected. Went to dr. Today he debried one and it has to be packed and covered to heal. Didn't hurt. Just started looking bad yesterday. He also put me on Keflex. Kind of gross. I am going to have my husband help me. RNY 8-1-18 HW 255 SW 242 CW 241 GW 160

Hello all, I’m 6 days post op and according to my doctor/dietitian, no straws until 6 weeks out. That is just not working for me. I’m used to my water bottle with a built in straw and I’m not drinking enough because I’m not allowed to use the straw. I’m thinking about ignoring this rule....thoughts/opinions??

I know they are fabulous but this isn’t a thread about whether I should buy one or not. The question is how well do bariatric patients do with eating food from an Air Fryer? What’s your experience? Every non-bariatric person I know loves theirs. But I’ve seen several articles lately discussing how the end product is not good for those that have had WLS as the food isn’t as tender or smooth as it should be. Most articles referred to items with crunchy outsides. So, thoughts?

I’m on day 2 post op (sleeved 8/6) 1 & a half days in the hospital, I’m home now. Yesterday I could do everything for myself I even passed some gas ( gas pain is no joke). Today (8/8/18) I woke up on my own little pain and no assistance from anyone. I think it’s a mental thing. I also think it’s going to depend on how you’re feeling after surgery if you will need much help at home. The day of surgery I was soooooo weak but today I feel ready to walk some. A little gas pain and little stomach pain but other then that I’m doing fine for myself. Drinking is a bit of a challenge. Cold stuff worsens my gas pains hot stuff helps me pass gas. Overall, I feel great ! I will …

Hello all, This will be a lengthy post! 10 years ago I was sure getting this surgery was the quick fix to weight loss I was searching for. I thought I would get the surgery, no pain, no problems. I would self-pay and all my problems would be solved. I didn't think about the depression I was dealing with, the addiction to food that needed to be addressed or the I don't care attitude. I feel that at the age of 20 I was naive and nowhere near ready for this challenge. 21-28 I challenged myself so much. I stop eating beef and pork for8 years. I started working out every week then a couple days then more and more. I started meditating to cleanse my desire for food. I …

On 10/10/2016 I had my Vertical Gastric Sleeve. OH MAN has it been a crazy 14 months!! It's hard to even think back on this time without wonder. It seems so long ago and yet just yesterday. I went from dying to flying, it's truly unbelievable to me. I wanted to take this time to kind of lay out what my 14 months looked like and where I am at now. I started this journey 4 years ago and this was me then: I start on this journey doing a full liquid diet for 16 months. I lost 200 lbs. I then gained back about 60. And then I started getting sick, very sick. I ended up in the hospital, was told I needed to do the VGS or look at dying in the next few years…

i broke my stall. I was stuck at 228-229 for 2 weeks and I just weighed in at 225. Woot! Woot! I can't tell you how stressed I was during the stall. I thought I would never lose weight again and that I wasted all this effort on the surgery. Man it was a roller coaster. Not fun.

Hey... 2 full days post surgery today and the pain does get better. But these gas pains!!!! I feel like the pains are traveling to my back and neck. Yeah, walking does help. But how long can one person walk? Should I fall asleep walking? My surgeon also gave me simethicone (baby dose in liquid form) to take 4x a day. Doesn’t really help. Besides walking and standing, what are some solutions for the gas pain?

Saw my surgeon this morning, he was pleased at how my incisions look and my abdomen feels. He gave me clearance to start adding various foods into my diet starting of course with the soft foods and depending on how I handle things back to regular foods in my own time. He was ok with the idea that 1/4 to 1/2 of a cup of food at each meal was just right and depending on my workout the amount of calories I am getting can be increased. He cleared me to swim and work out but no crunches for a while. Im so excited, no more shakes, soups, and jello!

I'm going to try to not be too graphic here but I wanted to share this. I was sleeved 8 days ago, on Tues. Thursday afternoon, I started taking the stool softner they gave me but it wasn't doing the trick. Friday, I was a little worried but was able to go a little . Every time I felt the need to go, it was like I was trying to pass a golf ball or more like, golf balls! On Monday, I called and talked to my NUT and she suggested Magnesium Citrate. I asked about Miralax and she said that would be ok. I got some Miralax and started that Monday evening. I had some more attempts but things were so hard and my this time, I was definitely impacted ALOT. My butt was hurting …

I’m just 11 days post surgery so my body is still really in the early healing stages. I love this forum because all the contributors have answered so many of my questions and I felt more prepared realizing that a lot of things were normal parts of this way of life. The one thing that shocked me today is the smell of cheddar cheese. I’ve always been a cheese lover and no other smells have really bothered me but my hubby nuked a chili cheese dog for his dinner and I got really nauseated from the foot odor smell of the cheese! Anyone else have any out of the blue, unexpected surprises after surgery?

Has anyone experienced severe left shoulder/collar bone pain? Had revision from VSG to bypass 7-30. Noticed pain right away, chalked it up to positioning during surgery & gas. Progressively getting worse. It goes then comes with a vengeance. Have no trouble passing gas or BM. Have tried heat, cold, medicated rubs, muscle relaxers & massage. I feel great other than this pain.

PLEASE don't hate me. I am not bragging. I have a very legitimate concern. I am 2 yrs out from RYGB and have lost 98 lbs. (Can't figure out how to update my stats.) My BMI is a very healthy 21. No, I am not emaciated. However, I started losing again, about 1.5 lbs/week. I have NO appetite and have to force myself to eat. I keep track of my nutrition on My Fitness Pal, and I typically get between 650-800 calories a day. I know I can't continue like this. I can't stand protein shakes/bars. I even tried eating Dorito's, my old favorite, pre-surgery, and wondered why in the hell I ever liked those nasty chips. My surgeon says I'll gain wt back soon "once everything settl…

So my cycles are pretty heavy which causes an Iron-deficiency for me. So I’m already going to be on my cycle when I go in for surgery. “SUCKS *SS” I was told by my surgeon that I may get my cycle again. Which means twice in one month. Oh HELL NO! Was anyone else told this?? Or if you had surgery did this happen to you. I would like to know how common it is. ?☹️?

I am a die-hard stomach sleeper, and never sleep on my back or side. I know that it will probably be impossible to stomach sleep for a while after surgery, but I'm just wondering what others' experience has been? I bought a wedge pillow to try and making sleeping on my back a bit more comfortable than laying totally flat. But, I'm really hopeful that I won't need it for long, and I will be able to return to my favorite sleep position asap. This is actually one of the things I'm most worried about regarding my upcoming surgery. Thank you for any input!

I have been having aches on right side of back/chest/abdomen for about a week. I have an ultrasound tonight & meet with team tomorrow. I am almost 3 months post op. This ache isn’t pain but it’s bothersome. Just wanted to know (just in case I need to have mine removed) how long is recovery for gallbladder removal. I am hoping not to take more than a week off for recovery. And how has your diet or vowels changed since remova, if they have?

Just wondering how many of you actually experienced migrating pain post op? At first it was my main incision area on the left side, now its kind of migrated downwards to my lower abdomen in the middle under the navel. Im going to see my surgeon tomorrow for a drain removal im just wondering how common it is or if any of you experienced this? Of course im going to ask him tomorrow I just think it's kind of weird how its either radiating in another place, or moved now.

I have RNY bypass on Wednesday. The belching is about to make me insane no matter how small of sips I take I still belch constantly. TMI but they are very liquidity sounding. I have heard about other people using gas x strips. Would they help with the belching? I’m about to be insane, especially since I never ever belched pre-op.... :(

I struggle losing weight and keeping it off. I decided to have weight loss surgery thinking everything would be okay. I had 6 months to mentally and physically prepare myself for changing my eating habits by going to nutrition classes. I went through my pre op diet thought I had the solution to losing weight (surgery) On July 26, 2018 I was SLEEVED I was happy Yay! I did it! I thought my problems was over I have my TOOL that I being hearing about. I wasn't prepared for my emotions after surgery. Before surgery I dealt with my emotions by over eating food. Hi all: I'm 4 days post-op and the incisions are bothering me more than I'd anticipated, as I think I have a pretty high pain tolerance. The one incision which was closest to the surgeon (where I'm assuming she did most of the poking and proding) is really bruised, swollen, and painful. The other incisions I barely notice. (except for the creepy one where the drain was inserted!) How long did it take for your pain to go away from Laparoscopic surgery? Am I near the end, or should I invest in an Abdominal Binder? Putting pressure on the spot seems to help, but I can't do that on my own all day. I'd rather not spend more money if I don't need to, but I'd also like to …

I’m one week out from surgery and my bp dropped from 130/90 (controlled with medicine) to 105/60 (without meds) just in the last week, and resting pulse has gone down from 65 and 55. I’ve only lost 8 lbs. My doctor says everything is ok and was the one who told me to stop taking my meds. My question is whether anyone knows what could have caused this to happen so fast? The only thing I can think of is that it has something to do with sodium intake, maybe?? I am taking vitamins and on protein based liquid diet. I was a low BMI sleever and was 30.5 on the day of surgery. I struggled with high blood pressure since I was 20, so this is amazing, but also very confusing.

I was told to take tiny sips and the first couple of days post op I understood. Now, I'm 3 full days out and it seems that drinking almost normal sized drinks is working fine. I can take 2 or 3 drinks at a time. Is this okay or should u still be tiny sipping? I guess I'm scared to stretching my new stomach and I sure don't want that to happen.
