I was able to drink a lot as well. I think its pretty common. Just try to avoid drinking and eating at the same time once you have moved to pureed foods

Hi Pat :)

I've read many articles that liquids go down pretty easily and that liquid emptying doesn't really change from before the surgery.

I had an ESG, but I too could handle liquids very well when my sister who had the same procedure last year, wasn't able to keep down any liquids.

That's really good you getting everything you need! I hope soon I will be at that level. Keep it up!

I was the same way. I only had trouble with liquids the day of surgery because of nausea. After that it was smooth sailing. By one week post op I could take normal somewhat large swallows (large for a bariatric patient anyway). I am now able to eat soft foods and I have a nice tight restriction so don’t worry. I was also afraid that I had a huge sleeve or something since it was so easy to drink fluids.

Yeah I’m doing pretty well with liquids as well. I’m still following a strict time schedule but I’m getin my protein and water in

5 days post op and I can drink a lot. I have no problem sipping through an 8oz cup of broth in 20 minutes. I haven’t felt full from the liquids but I do t have much of an appetite either. I could go for some spaghetti though ?
