Currently, I'm one month and one-week ost VSG and I love green salad with lemon and salt? my salad is usually parsley + Rocca + Lettus, my doctor cleared me for food (however, he said it will depend on your stomach) So if you can help me and tell me how it feels, my tummy sucks (FYI) I feel nauseous all the time

So I’m just over 7 months post op. I’ve lost 76lbs and am at 128lbs (5’7”). I think that’s a bit low for me...too bony! I’d like to maintain or maybe put a few pounds back on. Having a hard time getting to maintenance level calories without feeling like I’m going to explode or barf! I’ve been adding spoonfuls of peanut butter, an extra protein shake, nuts etc. I talked to my dietician and that’s pretty much what she advised in addition to adding condiments like mayo, salad dressings etc to up calories without the bulk Anyone have certain things they have done to maintain or even put on a few pounds? This is just too bizarre having to think this way after being so fo…

My surgeon's requirements for the pureed stage are pretty steep and lasts 4 weeks. I hate life and would like advice for "recipes" or survival tips. The rules are as follows: Lean skinless whole beans/chicken/turkey/shrimp/crab/lobster/tofu blended with spinach, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, green beans, zucchini. May use low calorie broths, salt/pepper, herbs, lemon/lime, worschestershire, soy sauce, vinegar, plain Greek yogurt to season.

Nearing my 6 month mark (May 1). Anything else different you'd be eating? Here's where I am at today. For dinner I'll be having a Turkey burger patty with a slice of cheese and some green beans or mashed cauli, putting me at around 800 cals and 85g protein (the Turkey burger has 23g alone). I don't feel comfortable adding in more carbs yet =/ Carbs scare me since they were my vice. I exercise regularly and intensely 3 times a week.

On holiday with the family for the first time since my sleeve in Jan. 12 weeks today. Holidays were always a cue for indulgence. Never did the ‘diet hard so I can splurge’ thing, but did think ‘two weeks of treats won’t hurt’. Not indulged, but have compromised. Had a couple of crisps during a marathon game of monopoly. Had a couple of sweet potato fries with a fillet steak (totally gorgeous one with brie and crispy pancetta on top in a puddle of red wine sauce...yeah I know! Got loads to bring home that I’m having tomorrow with salad), and tasted eldest’s desert (she was right, it was exactly like after eight mints), but didn’t have one of my own. All that may sound to s…

My surgery is fast approaching and being who I am (a planner to the enth degree), I'm trying to understand what I might need to have on hand for my post-op diet. My RD and nurse have advised me that I will be on full fluids for about two weeks and then on to soft foods. I know that full fluids means that it has to be able to pass through a fine mesh strainer. What is causing me confusion is that the food list includes things like applesauce, s/f pudding, and cream of wheat/oatmeal. Why is it that so many carb heavy things are listed for my first foods? Is it because they're basically slider foods and won't stay in my pouch long? I know that my #1 job will be to…

I'm two weeks post-op, and on Thursday, I have a big work dinner; it's at a conference, it's being hosted by some fancy folks, it's a big deal to go and network and blah blah. Last year was a four-course affair with tons of industry gossip. In other words: awesome. But I checked out the menu online, and I think there is maybe ONE thing I can get, maybe, and it's a soup appetizer. Any advice on how to navigate this? I'm honestly thinking of telling them all I'm getting over a stomach bug and need to be cautious with what I eat, that my stomach's still way off. The threat of vomit always scares people into leaving you be, right? But any advice on how you deal with din…

Hello everyone just wondering when you switched over to the puree stage did you feel sick. I'm doing the 4 oz, and I was able to eat about 1 1/2 scrambled egg. I made 2. Eating every 2 hours is just impossible to me right now. I'm not hungry and still full from the eggs. I tried to eat some refried beans and I just couldn't. The smallest thing gets me worried now.

Hi all, Been good and checked for answers for a while, but not found anything very decisive. I’m worried about training my body to subsist on 600-750 calories per day. Worried it will never maintain without gain on anything resembling what the nutritionist suggested would be likely - 1600 odd (though maintenance on some calculators says 2,400 - ho ho) I’m 218, down from 256 Jan 21st sleeve and 263 highest in December. Slowed to lose about 2lbs per week now, which is fine, but could be better. Also 5’4”, mid 40s and post menopause with PCOS. For my build (7” wrists that make my baby sized hands look freakish) aiming point is 152 for just out of top end normal. Reckoning …

I had gastric sleeve done on 3/18/19. I am having a hard time getting in the 60 grams of protein and 64 Oz of water daily. I'm supposed to be on pureed foods. I still have to do liquids a lot though. I'm trying really hard but I can only get so much liquid or food down before my stomach gets upset or I vomit it back up. Is this common right after surgery? Has anyone else had the same problems? Any tip or tricks to meeting my daily requirements? Thank you!!

Can anyone give me a sample day of full food diet for gastric sleeve. Eventually I'm supposed to go to 1 cup for 3x a day, but I can't eat that much. Should I be eating 6 small meals till then? Also, I don't do shakes and can't find a protein bar I like. My taste has changed drastically and everything is too sweet. Thank you!

Anyone out there do Crossfit and count their calories/macros? Every time I go back to the WLS Clinic, it's the 1200 calorie diet. Technically, for my weight and being female, I should be eating 1808 calories. Currently sticking around 1500 because I overeat-and overeat like halo top or chips, which obviously isn't good. My lowest weight was 183. I gained and got back up to 215, dropped and was down to 188, and now at 198. I'm a hot mess....I'm mentally frustrated as to what I'm even supposed to be doing. Can anyone relate or help?!

I will have my 8 week post-op appt with the nutritionist who will finally give me the go-ahead for vegetables! I have a big organic garden full of veggies I can't eat and it's killing me! So this appt is very exciting. The food restrictions will be lifted and I can start eating more normal food. But..... I am scared. I have been doing great for the past month on 500 cal/day - protein shakes and protein foods. When I add some berries to my morning smoothie, some veggies and a salad with meals, and then try to gradually add more legumes, seeds, and nuts, the calories are going to go up. I have been losing 4 pounds/week for the past month, and I don't want to lose that momen…

Hey all! I'm ao excited to find this forum. I've just been perusing the existing threads and have found so much great information! I will be getting the gastric sleeve, hopefully soon! I have finished all my pre-op work so now I'm just waiting on my surgery date which I was told will probably be in 6-8 weeks. I'm super excited!! Thing is I'm vegan and have been for almost 2 years now. Which means no animal products of any kind. No meat, no dairy, no eggs etc. So.... I was wondering if there's anyone else here who's had this surgery and is also following a completely vegan diet? The doctor is excited about that and told me she expects it will be perfectly fine. I'…

I have suffered from acid reflux in the past but found a cure for it. My problem seemed to come from tomato sauce. I spoke to an Italian friend and she told me that her mom would put baking soda in her pasta to neutralize the acid. I tried it and it worked! No more acid reflux! When my brother used to get acid reflux he used to drink baking soda in water and it made it go away. So Baking Soda can really help with this. Also Deglycerized Licorice or DGL found in any health food store really helps as well.

My plan has me adding in complex carbs at 8 months out; I am 4.5 months out. However, because I am doing fairly intense exercise with a trainer, both my dietitian and the trainer have recommended I go from the 40g-ish of carbs I am eating now to 100g of carbs by adding in the complex carbs now. I AM SO TERRIFIED. lol. I have kept this stuff out of my house for the last 5 months because I KNOW they are my vice. My trainer suggested I start with just 2 tablespoons of whole wheat pasta a day. I am super scared that I don't have the self-control not to stop eating my high-protein stuff, which took me a long time to even get on board with, and replace it with ALLLL THE C…

Before I start I would ask that you please be kind or don't comment. I'm very emotional this last week. I had surgery 1 week ago today. I was all excited I get to go to full liquids today. I had half a YQ yogurt today and was fine. I ate baby bites. I had 1 cup mushroom soup strained. For some reason soup I can get to go down without pain and relatively quick. I'm allowed to have cream of wheat and put a tiny amount of brown sugar (I do not use ss) and fair life milk. It seems clumpy and thick but I tried to stir and rolled it around my mouth. I had to stop. I felt extremely full. Not sure if I are to fast or what, but I though I was going to die for 15 minutes…

Hello! I have not even been scheduled for surgery yet but I've been doing lots of research and lately have been thinking a lot about my diet post-surgery. I hate protein shakes, powder...anything like that. I cannot overstate how much I loathe them. Is it possible to have a healthy diet without them? Would anyone be willing to share examples of daily food that doesn't include them?

Hi all, posted at the beginning that I had bloods 2 months prior to surgery, but no-one did pre-surgery baseline bloods. Now, 6 weeks post sleeve with orders not to take vitamins until after this consult I drive 60 miles to see my surgeon, let him know I'm knackered, I have joint pain more than before, skin is so dry it cracks, open weeping in skin folds, mucous membranes so dry I'm getting lots of spontaneous nose bleeds, lips are almost blue and he says "But everything else fine?" "Good! Glad to hear you're feeling restriction and eating a good range of food" (yeah, about 1 veg/fruit a day after protein). "Come back in 3 months and we'll check bloods at a year" Seems t…

So... I've just come out of hospital after having a catheter ablation on my heart for some AFib / tachy arrhythmias... only time will tell if they've fixed the problem - my second ablation in 9 months. Before I went in, I got to thinking that pickles would enhance my life - nice crunchy texture, nice piquant flavours - a good balance to protein. Well they might have been mighty delish but the 30g (only 30 measly grams!!!) of mixed pickled veg that I ate with a piece of chicken breast increased my weight by 4lbs!! unbelievable!! And, it took me 4 days to start to lose it because weight never goes down fast - those 4lbs decided to hang around for a while, just for the…

I tried to emulate what I buy at the juice bar in LA Fitness Gym. Didn't work out well. It tasted good, but turned into a drink, more than a shake/smoothie. I need some ideas on how to "fluff" it up or other input. The PB and or cocoa powder powder also ended up "bubbling" at the top even after mixing. Ice also just disappeared as soon as I used the immersion blender on low. My chocolate PB "drink" 2 tbsp choc PB2 1 tbsp Ghirardelli cocoa 1 scoop GENEPRO Protein Powder flavorless (not the think bully whey type powder, this is "miconized" 8oz fat free milk, 3/4 cup ice cubes from machine 1 tbsp pure maple Syrup (too bitter without) 261 cal, 35g carb (28g sugar, 12 fro…

Hey! I'm really sick of purees! But it's better than the liquid diet - that was brutal. I wish I never had to look at another protein drink as long as I live. I developed some serious food aversions on liquid because I was feeling so nauseous every time I ate something. So lots of things are cancelled. Moving on to purees. I'm doing much better b ut I still prefer to eat a large variety of food so I'm trying to mix it up a bit. Try some of these if you need ideas! (my favorite continues to be refried beans but I don't think I need a pic of that here) GREEK CHICKEN SALAD: rotisserie chicken, Trader Joe's tzatziki dip, black pepper, garnished with mint le…

So pre surgery Ive always had success with low carb. My surgeon promotes Keto. Ive done both or I guess Ive done lazy keto post op. Im right at 6 months out. Im wanting to swap it up and try something new to help my body stay on the losing side of things. Ive recently started working out more and the weight isn't coming off as quickly, actually gained a pound this week. Ive recently read Chris Powell's Choose More Lose More for Life and found that Im pretty close to following his Turbo carb cycling already. I just need to get a little more specific with meal plans. Just looking to see if others have tried carb cycling? opinion? results? any extra inf…

So I am just over 5 months post op revision to Bypass and I am coming to a block/stall/halt..... whatever it may be in my weight loss. I only lost 2.6 lbs last month. I do great during the day but in the evening and night my cravings and hunger/head hunger are out of control, which makes me snack and crave sweets. But, I really think that the sugar free tea that I am drinking in the evenings is causing my cravings to be worse. I only have water during the day, but after work and at night I drink this tea (which I have a bit of an addiction to) It is sugar free, calorie free, carb free, but when I drink it I seen to have really bad cravings for sweets and sometimes s…
