I have been feeling shaky, weak and tired! I don’t know what’s wrong In so tired! Could this be iron or low sugar?

  2. I had a sleeve July 2019 due to a lot of issues had a revision to gastric bypass 2/2020 had not had any candy at all in that timeframe. We had a 21st birthday celebration for my daughter and I avoided all cake, soda and other goodies at the party but while cleaning up there was one leftover peanut butter cup left in the candy dish and I rationalized it in my head that well it’s peanut butter and peanut butter is a source of protein (I know I was making excuses to myself to eat it) so I popped it in my mouth and chewed it up. About 5-10 minutes afterward I started feeling sweaty and nauseated (not like I need to vomit just an icky feeling). My family has a history of diabe…

Im 12 days post op rny and I have not lost any weight for 5 days... im hiting my Protein and Water goal and I exercise (focused) for at least 30 min a day (the last 2 days I've been doing an hour) the only thing that comes to mind that could be why im stuck already is that my period is about to come in and ive always gained before it starts. Anyone gone thru something similar♡♡

  4. Hello I'm new to bariatric pals, this is my first day actually. Im still trying to figure out how to fix my profile to show post op instead of pre op?? As far as my stomach issue, I do plan to call my surgeon in the morning. I am wondering if anyone else experienced this issue? I knew to expect pain on the left side however surgery soreness has improved everywhere except this one place is like along my ribs and an area about as big as my hand it is visible swollen and is a dull pain mostly except when I reach or bend I feel a sharp pain and it's gotten worse about every day. Am I alone in this?

  5. Started by Horseshowmom,

I just started the 14 day pre-op diet yesterday and am using the bariatric advantage hpmr powder, and I must say I find it totally repulsive in taste and texture. Don't get me wrong, I can and will gag it down as instructed, but wanted to see what some of you seasoned veterans may have to offer as advice. It is very grainy'gritty when I mix it regardless of what method I use, it is: hand mix, bullet, ninja. So I wanted to reach out and see if anyone has any suggestions that may help with that area of my distaste for the stuff. Thank you kindly for any wisdom you can offer.

For those of you who had gallbladder issues, what symptoms did you have? I've sent my surgeon a note but am curious what others have experienced while I am waiting to hear back. For reference, since bypass I've had what I thought was intermittent heartburn and neck pain. I mentioned the heartburn to my Dr at my 6 months, but didn't describe the actual pain. I was googling (I know, I know...) and it sounds like it could potentially be gallbladder. Symptoms are pain behind & below low my right breast, near my sternum. I also often have pain in the back of my neck and the same time. I also have fairly regular back pain (long standing) so no idea if that's rela…

I just scheduled my dietitian appts for the next 6 months. I need to loose 18 lbs before surgery but I know I can do it. This community, youtube videos etc have helped so much. I just gotta take the steps and get things down one thing at a time. I'm emotional because I never thought I'd be able to do this, to get the surgery and start this process. I guess all I want to say is I'm grateful for all of you. For coming here, sharing your stories and being so open and compassionate. I feel stronger because of it. There's going to be good and bad days, but it all will pass and get easier with time. Big love to all of you. ?

I am 5 days post op of my RNY and I am not at all able to even drink water without it being incredibly painful. Tomorrow I set up an appointment with my surgeon and nurse to follow their advice. As of right now they're going to give me fluids tomorrow. I just don't understand why it's like this? Any insight?

Hi everyone! I had my RNY surgery 2 weeks ago to this date and haven't experienced the scale budging but I've lost enough inches that I feel lighter and clothes fit better. From reading about surgery and results, it seems that people tend to lose weight and then stall out at week 3-6 (I know everyone is different!) I'm curious if there's anyone out there who lost no weight following surgery and continued to have favorable results down the road? I understand that everyone's journey is different, I just don't want to feel alone in this. I know I'm still in the healing phase just want to talk to people who have had similar starts to this journey ❤️ Thanks

Good Evening! I had a follow up with my surgeon today from a EGD in July. He's scheduling me for a revision to bypass and hiatal hernia repair asap . I'm scared! Then following that surgery maybe a few months later he'll schedule another surgery to repair another hernia with a mesh. I'm going thru it right now. how many of yall had complete relief from reflux after getting a revision? Have you had any other complications with bypass? any regrets? Of course I'm doing the research on it but I'm afraid of it, that's why I didn't get it to begin with. I had my RNY on 07/01/2020. Everything was going well until the first of September when I started having issues keeping food down. My doctor did a endoscopy on 09/14/2020 and found that the opening from my stomach to my intestines had closed up. I ended up in the hospital for 10 days and they redid my surgery on 09/21/2020. I went in yesterday 10/19/2020 for another endoscopy and they found that the opening went from 30mm down to 3mm and they had to use a balloon type thing to try to reopen the hole. I have to go back this Friday 10/23/2020 for another endoscopy so they can try an open the hole even bigger. Has anyone ever had this type of complication?

  17. Started by WhatATool:-),

I had gastric bypass 3 months ago. I had really hoped to be the kind of person who never felt hungry, and could go half the day without remembering to eat. That hasn’t been the case. I’m hungry every couple hours, and on top of that, I don’t always feel my restriction when I’m eating. Sometimes, I’ll eat 3 bites of something and know I have to stop. I wish that happened more often, because other times I don’t feel it at all. For example, I just ate almost a whole bag of popcorn, and I feel just fine. Physically, not mentally. Mentally I’m feeling mad at myself for doing that instead of eating some chicken. Mentally, I’m worrying that the way I was in the past is going…

Today marks 3 weeks post op Gastric Bypass for me, I’m currently down 50 lbs from my starting weight and 20 lbs from surgery weight. I was cleared for food 10 days out of surgery but haven’t seemed to be able to keep anything down and that’s kept me from eating. Given I haven’t been the best with protein intake but all I can seem to do is sleep all day because my body simply doesn’t have the energy to be up. If anyone has any suggestions that would help I’d greatly appreciate it.

I am three weeks postop. Since merging into my 2nd phase with some mushy foods, I've been having diarrhea for 4 consecutive days. I tried going back to my first phase and even taking Imodium AD tablets to ease the pain. And yes I am getting in plenty of fluids since knowing that diarrhea causes dehydration. Not sure what to do at this time. I am walking up every morning at 6am by this uncomfortable abdominal pain. I only feel better after bowl movement of what it seemw to be water based. If anyone has experience something similar please help. I will be reaching out to my doctor on Tueaday if this persists.

I have had clothing altered, not once but twice, I have had my wedding ring resized twice and refuse to do it again! I am so grateful and happy about my weight loss but I am afraid I will not stop losing! I was encouraged to eat good fats, olive oil, avocados, nuts, more fruits, protein, carbs and whole grains. Even the thought of drinking a protein shake makes me gag, I find them way to swe…

I am presently 7 weeks post op. I calculated 5 lbs per week loss thus far. Feeling great, no problem in nutrition due to ordering food from Bariatric Pal. For example the oatmeal cereal packets, I add in a small amount of old fashion oatmeal to it. My nutrition recommended me to increase to 1 cup verses 1/2 cup. Gastric bypass on Aug 28, 2020 with total loss of 37 lbs. Feel good, some straining in the beginning for BM but now it is much better with increase liquid intake of up to 8 cups per day. May seem like an odd question ? but.. I haven’t felt hunger yet. I had my surgery September 15th. I have had a lot of noises from my tummy tho. I’m wondering if this is my insides settling (kinda like a csection) or if this is a hungry tummy rumble without the empty hunger pains? ? I should be starving.. I’ve basically only been drinking with maybe a few sooonfuls of broth. I’m so over broth I just can’t stomach it anymore ?

I had my first and last appointment with my surgeon today. He is really cool, I feel like if we weren't doctor-patient we would move in the same circle. I scheduled surgery and paid my first payment ($1,050) and won't pay anything else until Feb of 2021, not sure what that amount will be. lol Just depends on how the insurance covers it all. But I'm soooo excited! It works out to where I will start the 2 week preop the day the kids and I return from our fall break so won't have to worry about dieting while I'm out of town. Unfortunately I will not be able to eat thanksgiving dinner, but in reality that's ok. My son is leaving for college Oct 26 so we are doing thanksgiving…

  31. I'm currently in the hospital because I believe I had some food stuck in my pouch. Yesterday at work I had leftovers from the previous nights dinner for lunch. Now, it went down just fine the night before. I ate about 4 small pieces of the grilled chicken, maybe 2 oz total, and from that point on I had nothing but excruciating pain and I would vomit every time I tried to drink so much as a sip of water. I only ever vomited a handful of times in the entire year since surgery it was always a one and done deal, I tolerated everything very well and never had strictures or anything like that so this was a bit ridiculous. I ended up leaving work (as an ER nurse) to go to …

I’ll have my surgery on November 3, and I take Lamictal for bipolar disorder. I saw a similar thread for this related to gastric sleeve, but I’m getting the roux-en-y gastric bypass. I’m a healthcare professional myself and have read up on the pharmacology of Lamictal, and based on my reading I think things should be fine. But I’m curious if anyone has specific experience related to a need for dose increase or decrease post-op. And how soon after surgery we’re you able to take your meds again?

Hey guys, I am 6 weeks post op and everything has been stable for me for about 1-2 weeks now. I’ve had some ups and down with my BM’s but got that under control. I have been walking and driving and doing some of my usuals activities. One thing that is still difficult that I’m not seeing a lot of on here is bending. Bending to sit on the sofa, bending to tie shoes or pick something up off the floor. It is tricky and feels uncomfortable. I happen to bend right where my bellybutton is and I noticed 2-3 days ago some discomfort in the incision that’s 2 inches to the right of my bellybutton, essentially right where I bend. It isn’t a stabbing pain, more of an ache o…

Today is my 4th day on my preop liquid diet and I'm STRUGGLINGGGGG....especially today, I cheated and ate bbq food. Now I feel so bad mentally and physically. I'm beating myself up about it but tomorrow I'm back on it. I have been tempted so bad and now I feel like once again food wins again. I just want to get rid of the hold that food has over me, mentally I'm in a constant battle. But I'm not going to give up, I have to overcome this.

I had the bypass on March 4th and have been having some post surgery issues. I have constipation for about three days followed by diarrhea and throwing up to the point that I actually pass out. I have had an endoscopy and a CT scan and nothing. I also had an appointment with an ENT and nothing. Cardiologist says nothing going on with my heart and my sugar level is not dropping. Reaching out in this forum in the hopes that someone else has experienced this and can offer help.

I had the gastric sleeve in 2012 and I just had my revision to the bypass on July 27th. So far I am regretting it. I was told I could move on to solids. I have tried eating chicken but it gets stuck in my throat and I have to throw it up. I'm scared I'll never eat normal again. The sleeve was much easier than this. I never had this problem. Will things get better soon?

Hi all! I had RNY Gastric Bypass on Friday & came home Saturday late afternoon. The pain level is severe! It does not feel like the pain reliever does anything to ebb it at all. I have been walking like a fiend even though it hurts. Every 2 hrs I walk 2 blocks. I even did it in the middle of the night because the pain was so bad I couldn’t sleep. How long does this pain last? Seriously thinking of going back to the hospital.

I'm due for surgery in T -5 days. I've been desperately trying to quit smoking! It's not required by my insurance nor has it been addressed by my surgeon. But, they did say in orientation that if tested positive, surgery would be canceled. I finally made it a day without and feeling more determined than ever. 5-6 days before surgery. If they test day of surgery (5 days), might I pass or have I completely sabatoged myself? I wish I was stronger and managed to get my head straight sooner. I'm disgusted with myself right now.

I had surgery on 12/31/19 and have done very well. I was very lucky to have an easy recovery, including no physical hunger. Well, I'm 5 1/2 months out now and my hunger has returned - a lot! I'm trying to be sure to eat dense protein at all my meals. My program doesn't like snacking so I'm trying to avoid that but if I am really hungry I'll have some greek yogurt. Does anyone have any advice on good, high protein, dense meals you like? I'm not much of a cook so simple items would be best. Thanks in advance, Lori
